  1. And I don’t buy the wear and tear argument year to year. That these guys played last October doesn’t matter now. They had their rest. Repeating is hard because you are playing good teams and when you do win it’s often due to good health and that has a way of evening out over time.
  2. I think the times are the same regardless of who’s playing. Based on TV network wishes. Not the home team.
  3. That’s awesome. Also a dangerous place to stop. People speed there all the time. Years ago I was coming back from a game. Drop my friend in garden city and I take outer drive home. A car had plowed into that accountants building. Must have been speeding towards MI Avenue and lost control and went straight instead of right.
  4. I only hardwire it for work purposes because I often run DB queries and it seems stronger. Also almost every day around 10 am I lose the connection briefly and have to reconnect. That's not good when I am on calls and then I have to reconnect to some of my systems once the connection is lost. I don't know if a stronger WiFi will fix that. It could be something with my corporate laptop..
  5. Yes.. I don't care what it does once i get it into the basement. it's unfinished and flows through the floor joists along with the cable coax. My stairs bisect the laundry room and the furnace room. The cable line comes in from the outside and goes across my laundry room, along the ceiling in my basement stairwell to a splitter, which has a line into the furnace room and that is what threads out to the wall upstairs to my router. You can see the photo below, the cable and electric in that outlet are in the same 'hole' if you call it. that other cable going through the floor at the top is to an outlet right behind the outlet in the photo. The room the router is located is on a slap, you can see the step up to what's the basement in the photo of the outlet. That other cable going through the floor is to an outlet on the other side of the other photo. You can see the larger hole on the right, I can't see enough in that to tell anything but maybe I can use that.... I literally have to just go a few inches if I drill a hole next to the one that is there for the cable line.
  6. I still scream "Why wasn't he pitching to Ortiz in game 2?????"
  7. Any suggestions on wiring a cable through a wall? We're going to be working from home, probably permanently in some format, and right now I run my ethernet from my router, down the basement stairs, located a few feet away.... it's part of my routine to plug that in each morning and unplug it at 3:30, then it hangs down by my basement stairs.... I have it run along my basement ceiling. Where i want to put it in the wall is right next to where my cable line comes into the router. The other side of that is my furnace room ceiling and it's less than a foot away I just can't tell if that hole is the same one I see from the basement or if there's another one in between. I see the power outlet wiring and cable line coming through. I was going to drill the hole and find out if I can see the cable from the basement. If not, then I know I need two holes.... so how do I easily connect the two? I'm sure a cable guy can do this in 3 minutes. what do I need to do it? I don't want to drill the hole until I know I can do it, then I'll buy a proper ethernet plate and make it pretty, or incur the wrath of my wife of course.
  8. if you have an iphone you can add them to your wallet to take care of that issue.
  9. Speaking of parking.... the "district detroit" lots near Comerica and Little Caesars are both a blessing and annoyance. You can buy ahead of time using an app. It saves you a few $ and reserves a spot. But you have to scan the barcode to get out of it. That's the shitty part. For a crowded event you have dozens of cars all trying to get to the single exit point, that's not very big, and everyone's getting their phones out, trying to scan.... often they are not prepared. With the venues being cashless I find it convenient from my regular spot because I don't take cash... but I miss just pulling out of a driveway. In one case the barcode wouldn't work so I had to pay twice... I complained but it went nowhere.
  10. My rule on lines is to do a female check. They take longer. Going into a sporting events.. even the lines that say "no bags".... they dont listen. They've always got bags and blankets and purses... we're going to a baseball game, not camping. Going into the office they'd take up 3 times the elevator space. They'd have their laptop on wheels, a giant purse, a lunch bag, and a cup of Starbucks.. swinging around, getting in the way. one time I came across a situation that I really didn't know what to do. walking in after a dentist appointment, meaning it wasn't a peak arrival time, there was a lady in front of me in the parking lot going towards the building. She had a rolling briefcase/bag and the handle got caught on her skirt and she didn't notice. A whole ass cheek was hanging out as she's walking in. Dark colored panties. It was no worse than what I'd see if she was at the beach. Probably 20 yards in front of me. I was contemplating if I would say anything and what that would be.... luckily it resolved itself, I don't know if she noticed and fixed it or it just fell down naturally. She got into the elevator before I was able to get to the entry door so there was no "pretend you didn't see what you saw" action. I still to this day am not sure the best way to handle that if I needed to tell her.
  11. In 2019 we went to Dallas to visit family. They took us to a rodeo in Ft. Worth at the Stockyards. When chasing one of the clowns a horse ran into the wall and was down for a bit.... I thought "I'm on vacation and came to Dallas for some fun and now I'm going to see them shoot a horse?"
  12. I went maybe 20 times in two years. I got a $30 membership for a month at powerhouse. Went twice. In 2003 we got a membership to our city Rec center. Went a few times here and there when I would be in my latest “I gotta get in shape phase”. My wife started to go regularly once both kids went to school all day. Then she took up running. I got a herniated disc when I was 39 and the PT said it was due to my hamstrings. Then and there I made the call. The pain I went thru was bad and I know not as bad as it could have been. No surgery. I considered that luck. Been doing classes and running ever since. Dropped 30 the right way. I’m not sure I was in this good of shape in HS. I couldn’t run 1/4 mile without feeling like I was having a heart attack. Now I wake up every Sunday and do 7-9 miles and so 3 miles a few other times in the week. And do a kettlebell class once and a boot camp style twice.
  13. A friend had a membership and roped me to with him because he had a free pass. They cornered me and talked me into a 2 year deal. It was a nice facility, a pool, sauna, etc. with plenty of machines and a track. But then after i paid it off they tried to hit me up with an $84 "Dues" fee. To hell with that.
  14. knock on wood, like I always say when I do this, but MI's 7 day average is at a 2 week low. I track the daily updates, not the official totals. The difference is the daily updates is just the # of positives returned that day. When they get logged offically they are added to the date of first symptoms. But to detect the trends I think it's fine, I started this back in March 2020 so I stuck with it. I'm on row 591 on my spreadsheet. Last time our 7 day average dropped over 3% was at the end of June. We've essentially been flat for 2 weeks but now it's going down, which you hope is the start of the other side of the curve.
  15. What's the over/under on # of GOP votes this gets? 2 1/2?
  16. So basically since we ahouldn't have statues of traitors then we shouldn't have statues of anybody? We're smart enough to decide who should and shouldn't have one on an individual basis. Personally I have to question the motives of someone who wants to put up a statue on US Soil of someone who shot at and killed US Soldiers but that's just me. I don't see the equivalence to a statue of a murder victim.
  17. I need a tree looked at and finally got someone to come out.... they're 10 weeks behind and by then it's too late to trim as they wouldn't know what's dead and not. Plus he said my tree looks like it's dying.
  18. if the house was built more than 50 years ago that is such a pain. It seems the boxes and holes are never right. We put up a ceiling fan in our dining room in place of a light fixture and had nothing to work with. Luckily I had a helper, an old timer who could do anything, and we drilled into the metal box for one of the support screws. Once the bracket was up I held myself on it to test it and it was good. Dealing with all the excess wiring and getting things flush is tricky. I am always worried about cutting off too much. It's probably a lot easier with 2 people so that you don't have to hold the figure and wrap the plastic thing around the wires yourself.. but you also don't want the wife to see how easy it can be. Gotta milk that baby.
  19. That call to Eovaldi is not as horrible as I thought it would be based on the reaction I read. If it's the pitch I think it is, the green one touching the upper right solid box. You can play the woulda coulda shoulda game in perpituity.
  20. I read Halberstam's book The Fifties which had a huge section on civil rights and the history of lynchings was sobering and terrifying. We did NOT learn that in school. We should and it should be taught today. Those who think otherwise have a guilty conscience.
  21. I've bought 2 TV's in the last 20 years. Finally got an HDTV in 2008 or 2009.... 42" for like $1000, then last year finally upgraded to a 55" for like $300
  22. Basically what Trump did was redefine what it means to be a Republican. The ironic thing is those republicans who oppose him are called RINO’s. Check your history. He’s the ultimate RINO. Even Goldwater would have renounced him. The Birchers won.
