  1. Why do gun nuts want to be around children so often?
  2. I always assumed that. Wahlberg/Damon/Leo was such a head spinner for me to keep straight in that movie.
  3. ha ha... mine also had a similar memory where Buster said it's like watching Ruth in 27, Williams in '49. HOF caliber at their peak.
  4. Good point. How many times do we see an OF jump for a ball that's about 30 feet up the wall or into the stands? TV tech wasn't the best prior up to 1999 so we can't really tell where the ball were hit. My seats at Comerica are midway between 1B and RF and I saw some epic VMart, Papi, and Prince moon shots. In this scenario I think the short RF hurts the cause of this ever happening. The point you make on the wind is valid though along with any other factors like spin.
  5. how hard would one have to hit the ball at an extreme launch angle to travel 330 feet yet come down at that angle? Do we have data on current trajectories given all the lidor and high speed cameras in use now? Seems like you could analyze what's been hit since we have that tech just to see if any would fit this profile. I'm not saying it never happened but from listening to old timers they make it sound like it was a regular thing.
  6. I saw a tweet referencing the RF overhang at Tiger Stadium and it brought back a memory of a discussion that I'm sure existed on this site previously. The legend of a RF'er standing under the overhang waiting to catch a ball only to have it land in the overhang or off the facing to be a HR.... I have my doubts but will defer to those who understand trajectories of batted balls better than I do. Is this a myth? People swear to have witnessed it but I am willing to believe it's one of those things that we hear about so often it just becomes assumed as a fact. Is this something that could be analyzed given the information we have on home runs today and the likelihood of a ball needing the specific kind of arc required to do that in Tiger Stadium? I recall a detailed discussion on this a long long time ago.... I think Brian Bluhm participated in it.
  7. I'm not convinced that Caitlin didn't do that simply for publicity. It's extreme, I know, but wealth and fame can do that to a person.
  8. There's a shock.... When someone is pro Russia/Anti Ukraine... it's a good indication of certain things.
  9. that doesn't seem very 'free'.
  10. My cable system never had WOR. At the time I was just as mad b/c WOR would show wrestling. The summer of 1989... I was 15. Too old to "go out and play", too young to drive around all day. My friends with licenses either had no car yet or we didn't have gas money. So I watched the Cubs a lot during that season especially. When they won the division I felt like a fan.
  11. Oddly enough, for my 28 game package, outside of opening day, I only have one day game during the week, at least until July which is as far as I looked. Usually they sprinkle them in earlier in the year. I know group sales are a big consideration for that, along with travel on getaway days.
  12. I love day games during the week now. With my home office set up I have my two monitors and in between the gap I have my TV spun over so I can glance over at it between systems and spreadsheets.
  13. I have a boss form the south side and he's very particular about what region gets referred to as the "South side".
  14. Two of my best non playoff game highlights were the games 2 weeks apart in May 2013 where he struck out 17 and then took a no hitter to 1 out in the ninth. Seems like a good guy and I also recall one very good game near the end of his Tigers career. Glad he got a ring.
  15. https://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-65602182 some new 3D pics of the Titanic.
  16. like accuracy matters when firing off dozens of rounds into a crowd. Jesus the stupidity....
  17. Ignorant. You are not pro life. You have no idea on medical issues and the body.
  18. Makes you wonder how well Ron would have done against a quality candidate in 2022. He barely beat Gilliam in 2018.
  19. I can see that. The hardcore protestants think dancing is a sin (Footloose is real, people) so I also wondered if it was meant to convey a "safe" style of dancing, that wasn't devilish. The old joke, why don't baptists have sex standing up? Could lead to dancing
  20. So the record extrapolates to a 77-85 season. Not bad, oddly enough same record as 2021, I don't remember that team being so good. Would you take it?
  21. She found a sugar daddy.
  22. I've noticed I wear deodorant less and less these days. i work from home. It's not an automatic thing but I often work out during the early evening so I won't put any on if I know I'm doing that, except a group class. Then when I get home and shower before bed I obviously don't wear any. Weekends I do of course. If I go into the office I will too.
  23. Chris has soul.... I always got Peter Wolf vibes from him. That video is relatively recent so I never shared it. It has their new drummer, bassist, and keyboard players. I wish I liked Aerosmith so that I could justify seeing the Black Crowes when they come here. Chris played at the Crofoot a few years ago and I couldn't go, was very bummed. To see him in such an intimate setting would have been great.
  24. Did Durham outline his prosecutions and make recs on who else should be charged? I assume that’s what took so long.
  25. They live in Canada. You wouldn’t know them.
