  1. The young people use that app for everything. It's their search engine.
  2. Here’s some more on some of the left’s antisemitism.
  3. I do not know how these advanced stats get created. But I wonder if at some point there is a subjective element? A decision is made to give weight to some element? To me that can introduce doubt. Someone made a decision. Plus it doesn’t roll off the tongue. I can’t very well mention at a game “well this guys RC25 is blah blah blah”. I sit in the second row in the second level. They might toss me over.
  4. That letter is great.
  5. Is there any reason why you would use BA over OBP? I get old school sensibilities but I have wondered for 25 years why OBP never became the dominant stat that BA did.
  6. Any stat that can’t be easily explained and calculated is going to have issues gaining mainstream acceptance. It’s gotta be a counting or ratio based stat. This year at Comerica they began listing OPS instead of BA next to the names. Started it in may. My theory is it was because everyone except one or two were under .200. I’ve had to explain it to people. That one is easy to comprehend and it makes sense those.
  7. Apparently McConnell slapped him down in a GOP meeting. “You wouldn’t be in the senate if not for citizens”
  8. The Arab nations don’t care who has to die or suffer. As long as in the end Jews also die then it’s fine.
  9. I follow the Webb telescope on FB and it's amazing. that clip is so infuriating to me for some reason... the smug way she says it. James Webb was a titan of a man. He deserves that honor of the telescope. Apollo had over 400,000 people working on it. Here's a clip from the great HBO series From the Earth to the Moon. The dad from Wonder Years plays James Webb. So so great.
  10. Uncle Ralph at the Villages in Florida got the message though. Now he and Carl and Ray and Lyle can have a good laugh over it at the Moose lodge for the 3 pm dinner special over cheap beer.
  11. If you were a server in a restaurant and you saw Sidney Powell sit down at one of your tables, you would cringe. "this one's going to be a handful, I know it"
  12. Ignorance is key to their sides success
  13. Maybe. But I never else said liberals so if a point is made in refutation against what I say then I will go off on the words I used.
  14. Two rabbis attended the funeral. I saw a photo of them with the Iman of the mosque and parents. condemnation, when it happens, of Oct 7 aways comes with a caveat.
  15. i stumbled across this. I don’t know who this person is but it’s a sentiment I have seen expressed many times the last few weeks.
  16. No, nothing triggered. I’m just kind of surprised. The far left being not terribly friendly to Jews is a thing.
  17. Clearly you aren't seeing the same things I am seeing. https://www.timesofisrael.com/us-democrats-lash-socialist-organization-for-backing-rally-supporting-hamas-attack/ https://www.thenation.com/article/society/bds-dsa-antisemitism-israel/ I would strongly argue that a lack of outrage over what happened on Oct 7 or to try to justify it amounts to antisemitism. Just because it's not the same words as those on the right make it's still antisemtism. Think of it as being anti black because you think they are inferior to whites or being anti black just by suggesting they have their own schools and bathrooms and such and such.... both schools of thought are wrong. Anti semtiism can have more than one definition.
  18. The point isn’t that the left or liberals are displaying antisemitism. It’s that some elements of the left, the extreme portion I guess, are. Whether it’s anti Israel or anti Semitism is semantics to me.
  19. I signed up for in Oct 2011 because the Tigers were in the playoffs and there was a rain delay. I noticed people on this site were using tweets to indicate when the game would resume. I was with friends tailgating and signed up so I could follow along and know when we could head in. I think it was an Oakland series.
  20. But what does that have to do with treatment of Jews who are not in Israel and have nothing to do with what the government does there? If someone's targeting Jews in a university, and many other places, who are not in Israel and not part of the government then I will call that antisemitism. Not everyone at a Trump rally are racists and confederates but when you see some of the flags and T shirts and slogans mixed in.... I see no difference here with regard to Israel and Jews.
  21. Democratic Socialists of America. They've had some high profile defections over the last few weeks.
  22. and it's disappointing to see it so prominent on the left. This is not a right wing thing. Sure there's extreme right wing anti semites but I don't think the increase we've seen the last 2 weeks is due to them. It's the college crazies.
  23. I think even bigger markets won't make a difference. It would in ratings beause more people in those markets will watch, and by default those fans in other markets, but I don't think ratings matter much everywhere else. A random person in Milwaukee or Charlotte or Alberquerque, not from Boston/NY/LA isn't going to be more likely watch the WS if those teams are in it. It all comes down to the rise of other sports, especially football, and viewers having more options. Until the explosion of cable and satellite, and streaming/DVR, viewers watched what was on. And the World Series was often the only thing on at that time. Now they can watch the NFL or a show on Hulu or Netflix. People who watch TV have a backlog of shows/movies they have to get to. It's not because the game is suffering or did anything wrong.
  24. I'm using it less, not intentionally, but just because it's not giving me anything I want so I naturally just don't go as much. It's not informative. I might do another purge of who I follow to make it more specific to sports and entertainment rather than news. I keep trying threads but it's not doing it yet for me.
  25. In that aforementioned Posnanski book he talked about one of the old time pitchers, I can't remember which, but he was good enough to be on his top 100, that purposefully avoided strikeouts. He wanted them to hit it. He thought he was more effective at getting outs. By going for strikeouts he risked hard hit balls.
