  1. I don't because of the drama. I have very nice neighbors who are very catholic and pro life. Very good people. But that's their calling. They told me they were surprised when I had my biden sign up. Of course nobody has offered me a sign either. I had to drive out to the East side for my Biden sign in 2020 and was more than happy to "get out" and do it. But one person with nothing to do can go around and beg people to put up a sign. Whitmer supporters are busy working.
  2. Its grotesque because it's not a blowout.
  3. and while I know you disregarded defense... was Schalk even any good, at least a HOF type player. My impression is he got in because he was well liked and wasn't part of the Eight. A good old boy.
  4. I think the signs near us are because of one person. I won't say where they live but I've seen her going around house to house, she came to ours. Her original candidate for Gov got like .5%.
  5. Tram was beset by injuries beginning in 1988. But he still was a decent player when he did play. Made the ASG in ‘90.
  6. It's ok to give Tork more time. His defense seems pretty good there and lets give the org an off season to look at things and hopefully give him some valuable instruction and feedback.
  7. 8 mile run followed by sitting in the sunshine. Can’t beat it. Beautiful day to close out another season of games.
  8. Harris is a smart guy who knows baseball and has other information and concerns at his disposal than anyone here. Nothing said is this thread isnt anything he doesn’t already know.
  9. Working from home my second car could definitely be electric. The longest I drive it is a 160 mile round trip from flint from time to time.
  10. Right. Everyone has a circumstance that’s unique. Lots of people did evacuate. Lots didn’t. Here’s another unique situation. Hospitals still needed to be staffed. With one spouse working 4 days straight at the hospital during the storm maybe the rest of the family says “no way we are leaving mom down here by herself. She will need us when she’s finally able to stop taking care of people on ventilators.” others might have stayed behind because they have heavy equipment and a 4x4 or big boat that could be useful in the days after getting help to people. Or they simply wanted to be there to help in any way. They took the risk so they could support.
  11. What policy did Biden implement that caused inflation here. And everywhere?
  12. I think your need to look down on and go after people who have had their lives destroyed as if they did something wrong is just a bit rude and tone deaf. Not every house in a beach area is an oceanfront mansions. Many are trailers and manufactured homes that do not require one to be wealthy to live in. I don't get that mentality. Blame the victim. Call them names. Nice. Why aren't you down there price gouging bottled water?
  13. not everybody has people. Not everybody has somewhere to go. Some people may have been living there for 40 years before it got expensive and know nothing else. I saw an elderly lady who was practically in shock while talking to the media after her paralyzed husband was saved. I'm not going to get on people like that for not making the "right decision". Maybe they only had one small car that wouldn't fit anything. Maybe the car is unreliable and they'd rather take their chances inside instead of being stranded on the road. Point is you don't know everybody's circumstances.
  14. all I see is a nice pair
  15. Not everyone has a car. Not everyone has the internet or a smartphone. No the state doesn't do that. You can't just call the Red Cross for a ride either. Some people really are vulnerable and it's not their fault. Some people can't leave because they are first responders or health care workers. Being in a vehicle in a wal mart parking lot is not very safe either.
  16. some people can't leave. I saw some over head video of where we stayed in July in Ft. Myers Beach. It's devastated. Gone. The condo in the upper right on the after photo is where we were. From the over head shot it's the lower one on the left side, where the pink icon is. You can see 3 houses as you pull into the driveway are gone as well as the 4 houses across the street. I've circled them. The whole island is like that. For giggles when we got back from there I went on zillow to check those houses and they last sold for $1.7M. That's for a 1 BR 600 sq foot. But it's on the water! If you've been there and know... the Times Square area is gone. The pier there is gone as is the restaurant out there. I think Estero Island is toast. They're building a Margaritaville right next to the bridge... The causeway to Sanibel Island is, for lack a better word, broke. As in collapsed in some places.
  17. I just finished Astronaut John Young's book and he devoted some time to the work one of the Shuttle missions did to salvage Hubble. It was a good book but very technical and a lot of it flew over my head. But it is neat to read about a guy who's active career spanned from Gemini to the Shuttle program.
  18. And while we’re apologizing, we’re really sorry about our governor’s recent habit of calling President Biden names, such as “President Brandon” or “The American Nero.” If DeSantis only knew that Biden’s immediate response to the Florida-bound storm would be magnanimous — “We’ll be there every step of the way,” Biden said — our governor may have been less petty and juvenile in his Fox News performances. Oh, and Massachusetts, thanks for sending us whatever you can in storm relief. I know, we’ve recently sent you some desperate asylum seekers from Venezuela, unceremoniously dropping them on Martha's Vineyard. Looking back on it, we behaved like a bunch of delinquents playing a game of ding-dong-dash but with people’s lives. That’s not us anymore. Not since Hurricane Ian. Now we have newfound appreciation for displaced people in need of help. And we don’t think it’s funny anymore to abuse them. So, we appreciate anything you can give us. Hey, and while you’re at it, you can start by sending back those migrants we gave you. We’re going to need a lot of workers to clean up the storm rubble. And the snowbirds surely aren’t going to do it. When the going gets tough, they’ll just stay up north this winter and start looking at real estate in western North Carolina. So, please give us back those migrants. There were a lot of able-bodied workers in that bunch. And we need lots of people with good backs and strong arms now. In fact, we can use all the Central American labor — documented or undocumented — the rest of America can spare. And we promise, as long as they’re here, working and putting our state back together again, we will not to cast them as evil drug mules, pedophiles and terrorists. We’ll just find some other marginalized group to pick on.
  19. I will watch the games but my heart rate or blood pressure or pulse is really unmoved by football. Yes I want the lions to win but even on Sunday it didn’t even move me. I don’t have that gene in my system. It could disappear tomorrow and I wouldn’t even flinch. I wish it were otherwise because my son loves football and I would like to bond over it. I get the chance to go to MIchigan games all the time and when I go I am so bored. I appreciate the atmosphere and passion but the seats are uncomfortable and I can’t get a beer.
  20. I’ve been to a few of the games and going tomorrow. They’ve been good games to watch.
  21. was listening on the radio while working and can forever remember Champion's call.... "Look out Sharpe wide op-touchdown"
  22. I think the Snowden thing, not him, but his situation, is an enigma for many because they have to think about what "side" they are on and who agrees with him and who doesn't before knowing what to say. There's a little bit for everyone there. Who wants to grind whose ax?
  23. Unless he does something very drastic like go vegan I don't see it happening. When you get to 40 you have to make substantial changes to do what he is saying. He already doesn't drink, I presume, so unless he's just pigging out on fast food and junk food it will take something like that.... to lose weight at this point you need diet and exercise. Not just one or the other and I assume he's getting a decent dose of both. I suspect during the off season he's a good boy because it's training time. You can control your day. Spend a lot of time at the gym. Once the season starts, you get the long days and odd hours and time on the road. He's probably predisposed to just being a big fella.
