Dickerson is older than Ernie was when the Tigers last won the WS.

He was the last of the Titans. First one to go into space 4 times. Only 6 Apollo guys left now. Apollo 13 still holds the record for the farthest distance from Earth due to its emergency free return trajectory loop around the moon.

Similarly, this is sunrise taken from the same spot showing the angle. I can always tell the time of year based on how the sun hits my basement windows. During peak summer it is a straight shot into one that covers the full length. You think lights are on. And during June and July it also hits directly into our bedroom window. It makes getting up early easier. 8 am sunrises blow.

Do they not understand what state and climate they live in? How long have they lived there? I've only been there 4 times during this time of year for a week at a time and know full well that thunderstorms can pretty much pop up anytime anywhere in the afternoon.

Spiro Agnew would have been able to keep his job in today's environment. So would have Nixon. Gary Hart's issues wouldn't have even made the news. Teddy killing that girl would have been filed away and forgotten. Clinton's womanizing and Whitewater would have not have even been mentioned. Jimmy Carter's Chief of Staff had to resign b/c he was thought to have done cocaine and stared at a lady's cleavage for too long at a WH party. Every scandal in since Roosevelt wouldn't make the top 20 Trump scandals and problems. And the odd thing is Roosevelt's big issue, which was hidden, would have been exposed today, his "illness". It shouldn't be an issue but it would be today. You think anybody in a wheelchair could get elected? And Roosevelt's health in 1945 and 1946 was known to be very poor. That's why Truman was selected as VP. He was seen as weak by the party and they knew they were picking the next POTUS.

man, for all my bitching over the years for being stuck with games started by the likes of Mike Pelfrey and Jordan Zimmeman, etc.... this is like my 5th Skoob start this season.

He also exposed the basic idea that it's ok to be wrong. To lie. It really doesn't matter anymore. You can say the earth is flat and there will be a place for you in public life as long as the voters pick you. The media, what's left of it, will go along. Years ago, I pointed out a historical coincidence. In 1952 The GOP Nominee picked Richard Nixon as his running mate. He mainstreamed the concept of dirty politics and his legacy shaped Washington for decades. 28 years later, the GOP Nominee picked George HW Bush as his running mate. He himself was tame and didn't do much but without that I doubt his son Dubya becomes TX Governor and President. The affects of the Iraq War are still being felt 20 years later and it changed things for generations 28 years later the GOP Nominee picked Sarah Palin as his running mate. They didn't win and she didn't really do much after. But what she mainstreamed was the backlash against making fun of stupid people in office. She was an airhead. Ignorance became a badge of honor. If you corrected these people you were called elitist. The entire Trump presidency today and his cabinet are the ideological descendant of Sarah Palin. The people who don't read, who believe every conspiracy theory they come across on social media. Dumb became something valuable.

She's the smart one. Uday and Qusay will turn on each other.

I also think society in general shares some guilt. We want to squeeze every last point out of our investments.... well this is how they do it. We don't want 8%, we want 8.5%. It's all about the next quarter, not quarter century.

the funniest thing I read yesterday was "Nobody's making moneyball 2 about an old guy who has lunch with Lynn Henning 2x a year"

one person constantly complains that Hinch wears a hoodie or sweatshirt.

and those who build a brand being "anti Harris" and have to stick with it at all costs. Hard to do when the team is playing at this level for a year but they keep trying. I think some root against the team so they can vent.

MLB must have changed their protocols because in the last few years they make you clear the stadium when there's lightning around. That wasn't a thing before. Fans bitch. "It's not even raining..... they can play....."

ah, the "best white guy" award

wonder if they are mormon. Just sayin'

the best teams will lose 3 times a week.

There is a big of unintended consequences though in the voting rights enforcement mechanism. I don’t know if that’s what happened here but in general by having to create specifically “black” districts that are guaranteed you inadvertently create whiter districts nearby.

You have to answer the question of what purpose does the sports media serve today? Analysis? Nope. We can get better analysis here and on the internet in general. You have to weed through it obviously. Insight and background information? Maybe but the leagues all have their own media and the athletes are don't talk about that kind of stuff anymore. There's no meeting up at the hotel lobby bar or Lindell AC to bitch about the GM. Players are walking corporations. Their interviews are done with the official team podcast sponsored by a law firm that's hosted by organization employees.

Carpenters HR was as epic as any I saw from my seats from Prince or Victor or any visiting player. I legit lost it in the air as it went up right in front of me.

I feel like given that if you are a playoff team then you have "good" players, the differentiator is a good bullpen and good defense. So if the idea is to build a playoff team you make you are as good as you can be in those areas. If you get into the playoffs then you probably already have 2 good starters, at least. And you probably have a good offense. But when runs are scarce and every at bat is critical over a 3-5-7 game series those are the elements that prevent that single in the hole that scores the runner from 2nd. ANd the bullpen shuts down the late rally.

and throw in a 2 of 3 series for the first round....

It's not as bad as it was a few years ago, when you could smell and see it. You look up at the trees and it looked everybody was having a bonfire in their backyard. I don't smell it this year but it makes the blue sky disappear so it looks overcast. And in the evening the moon is orange and it does make nice sunsets but not for a good reason obviously. We get so many overcast days here from January to April so it is aggravating that we miss out on these beautiful blue sky days like this.

What did he say last year? This org earned the benefit of the doubt and Carlos and lost legacy media don’t have the knowledge to speak intelligently n these matters

Rochester Hills. Family moved when he was 2. Dad was in finance and moved around a lot.
