That kind of comment is uncalled for. You have no idea what his working hours are or what his situation is. It could be interpreted as a personal attack.

Elon had hair transplants, his face worked on, and he promotes boner pills and testosterone.... some would call that "gender affirming care".

He actually does. He uses his feed just for that topic it seems like. He’s a good mayor otherwise. I’ve seen so many positive changes in service and operations. If you didn’t see his twitter feed or see him on fox 2 arguing it on The Edge or whatever you would never know those things. He doesn’t talk about it in public or appearances. I don’t like his take on that issue but I have met him twice and he’s fine. When running for office I had a sign up for his opponent, who is a friend. He said “I guess you don’t want any literature?” I was outside raking leaves. I told him “nothing personal. He’s a friend and I always told him to run once O’reilly was done so I have to support him”. He said “I can’t argue with that”. I also told him that this wasn’t a Trump thing and if he wins I know he will do well. I voted for him already in is state races. you all know my position on this war. But once it entered into Lebanon I started seeing the fear in some of my friends. They have family and friends in the line of fire. When they see each other they immediately ask if everything is ok. the mayor did not endorse Trump. He only said Harris didn’t earn his endorsement but told people that Trump cannot win and to vote their conscience. Yes he was toeing tbe line and being cute. But the mayors of Dearborn Heights and Hamtramck endorsed Trump. The Dearborn mayor would not have changed anybody’s mind really.

I also use threads but to me it’s more like Reddit. I get lured into it from either FB or Instagram because they push a topic. But the algorithm is way too targeted. I read some threads about air travel and I get them all know. But it’s also a clickbait haven. Someone just trolling for engagement. And do not ever click a picture of a female because that will never go away. I wish I could modify it. I don’t need that stuff. but sometimes I come across a topic that interests me.

They should hold the press conference at The Great Commoner in Dearborn, where Trump visited the Friday before Election Day, and invite the mayors of Dearborn Hts and Hamtramck along. They both endorsed him. Lots of “double takes” going on in my fine city. Wait for the deportations.

we all know if the results and trends had been exactly reversed that Trump would have called Harris that night and practically disappear a week later. Right?

Private schools should pull themselves up by thier bootstraps and get their money the real american way, by hard work, not by mooching off the public and accepting handouts from the government. Have some bake sales and make the kids go door to door begging for money. Maybe sell some T shirts or Entertainment Books for 50% off a pizza when you buy another pizza at menu price.

Rubio strikes me as one of the “I know this is all bull**** but I have to play along” republicans.

Out of sight, out of mind…. they can have a clean conscience. Vouchers are a scam. Taxes aren’t linked to people. If it were the DoD wouldn’t have a budget.

Schools that get to select their students do well. one reason public schools always score worse than private is because they have to take every student. Many students have disabilities across the board along with language barriers and horrible home lives. Many are homeless. It might surprise you to find out they don’t do as well. They also cost more to take care of. So when you callously speak about bloated budgets you should understand what much of that money goes to. It’s not an apples to apples comparison. 60-70 years ago these kids were discarded and thrown into institutions and forgotten about. You know…back in the “good old days”. It takes a special kind of cruelty to ignore our most vulnerable kids and citizens but with today’s GOP that’s ultimately the point isn’t it?

I live near Greenfield Village. Every year they do Holiday Nights for a few weeks, which ends in a fireworks show. Every night on our neighborhood FB page someone asks if anybody hears loud booms or gunshots.

Pharmacy drive thru should be for pickups. Not other business. Take that **** inside you lazy bum.

It’s to create a peasant class to do all the work of the migrants. Educated people are costly.

Very boot strappy isn’t it?

Franky anybody who claims to love America cannot be a Trump voter because his ideals and way he ruled run counter to what America stood for. Like his policies all you want and I don’t give a **** whether you served in the military or not. It’s a direct conflict. You can pick which flag to wear, the American flag or the Trump flag. But if you have both they don’t line up. Just like the confederate flag.

Btw, his middle name is Francis. Fitzgerald was John’s middle name, after their grandfather “Honey Fitz” who ruled Boston like the Daley’s did Chicago.

I just signed up

I agree. When people say things like “your president” they may subtly be inferring an allegiance or servitude. I hear it from people who served in the military, which as active duty he is their commander in chief. But that absolutely does not transfer to civilian life. They are public servants elected by us. We do not have to respect them. And despite that famous scene in The West Wing where he confronted the Dr Laura type character, we don’t have to stand when they enter a room.

Christianity is a bogus religion because the Catholic Church covered up sexual abuse and we constantly see cases where pastors commit sexual crimes. do I have that logic right? How is it different?

The civil war is a huge blind spot for me in my history. I know very little about it beyond the bullet points.

it's been a few days and I've avoided all things about the election as best I could. I would scan this thread but am not invested in it anymore. I just don't care. I had my most productive day at work on Wednesday. I wasn't checking twitter or here to see the latest and greatest. I feel better about this that it was a blowout rather than a squeaker. I'm not saying I'm happy about it but it helps me accept it. I share both opinions I read about from Lee and MTU. He never should have been nominated again. That's on the voters. He never should have been elected again. That's on the voters. Our voters run the country. This is the country we have. He'll win the popular vote, I assume, I haven't been looking. So...... this is who our fellow citizens wanted based on these two choices. My hope now is that all the scary talk is just bluster and hyperbole and the political forces of our legislature will do it's work and big business will pull their strings beacuse they need employees and customers. The House has to get elected again in 2 years. I'm not going to listen to his stuff every day and worry about what he says or does. I am going to be one of those people who has no idea what's going on anymore and every election I'm voting for the democrat,. The whole Trump show is a TV show. This is the revival. The revival is never as good or interesting as the original. People may have voted for him but they won't be watching or whatever.... and that will bother him. It will be boring. The one thing that really bothers me though are the judges and the SC. Alito and Thomas can now retire in the next 2 years and we'll get their replacements for a lifetime. It's probably too much to ask for someone to pull a Ginsberg... is that too harsh? No.

I bet it's because nobody knows how to change the phone system. They probably fired the person who did know, and that was the only one who knew, and rather than spend the few thousand it would cost to get the vendor out to help them... they just let you suffer because.... what else are you going to do?

I'm checking out for awhile. It's not worth it for my mental health and the time consuming distractions. Presidential history was a hobby of mine but that was ruined now because it's not what it used to be. I feel guilty because I'm pretty sure I'll be ok. It's the vulnerable people I worry about. I gave up at 11 pm last night, put on an episode of Breaking Bad (My sis in law is watching for the first time so I am watching in parallel so we can discuss via text), went to bed, got up at 5 to get my son off to school, purposely avoided the TV and my phone so as to not know what happened, went for a walk, started up my laptop after being off since Friday at 5:30, and at 5:45 finally peeked to confirm what i knew. Then I had a meeting at 6, followed by more meetings.... so I have been distracted today. America was supposed to be exceptional but it's not. It's just like any other country. I know the rest of the world laughs at the sentiment that we think we're special but for the most part we've been there for others when they needed help. Now we won't be doing that and many people in our country will feel the persecution we see elsewhere and that many here felt 60+ years ago. I tried. We tried.

I made a recent trip to TN and nowadays there's little chance to be able to do cruise control on 75 going down there. Ohio offers a bit of a chance after Toledo. But I like to do what Dan said.... set a comfortable speed, I like to do 4 over the limit, the put on adaptive cruise control and relax. I only got a chance to do it for about 45 minutes though. Coming back in KY, before the OH border (and that giant hill that you don't realize is that high until you go North) there were 3 trucks that did the "take 10 minutes to pass each other" and it was creating a backup as far back as I could seein the mirror. I suspect 3 of them in the right lane were doing about 65, 65.8 MPH, and 66.2 MPH. And a work truck with trailer got sandwiched in between them. I was getting worried as traffic was picking up.
