I definitely would have gotten put out of the eighth-grade spelling bee on that one!

I did the phonetic spelling at first and then still got a squiggly after the copy/paste.

I just checked my Peacock account and see they are exclusively covering both feeds of various contending teams almost every other day and these games will not be available through a local subscription service you are paying for or through mlb.tv. You will have to have a Peacock premium account.

From what I can tell these games will be considered a national broadcast even though you will be receiving Jason and whomever he’s with that day. Fortunately, or unfortunately, this will affect Tigers fans only a few times a year. I could be wrong about this. But but when I do a search, that’s what I am being told.

Maybe this is already been discussed, but it didn’t feel like combing through every post in this thread to see.

To clarify, those daily games you are seeing available on peacock effectively replace the old “mlb.tv free game of the day” where one out of market game can be watched if you are not already an mlb.tv subscriber. These are just simulcasts of the local broadcasts that the in-market folks get.

Peacock does have some exclusive games, but that is mostly just Sunday night baseball (just like espn used to have). Many/most of these will also be on NBC. These Sunday night national games are the games Jason is doing.

The other exclusive is the Sunday early game that starts up midseason (like peacock and Roku had previously).

Basically, NBC/peacock took over Sunday night from espn. And the tigers own network takes over for Fanduel.

Thank you so much for the clarification. It doesn’t affect me too much because I have both MLB TV and Peacock, but I’m glad it doesn’t affect others who follow the Tigers too severely. Looking things up on the Internet is a lot sketchier now than it used to be. There’s just a lot of bad information out there, so once again thanks.

Looking forward to when President [insert name] nationalizes the entire X/starlink/boring co/tesla conglomerate and it all becomes the US postal service.

Days away from Opening Day and I have no clue where I’m going to be watching games.  I have Xfinity when I’m in Detroit, but spend half of every week in Chicago.

What am I supposed to do?  (Asking for a dumbass)

I have directTV. I have seen unequivocal statements that DirectTV will carry DSN, but they also tell me that it be on the same channel number that currently belongs to fanduel. But the Wings season - as well as the Pistons, remains on fanduel for a few months after the Tiger season starts, so the some total of information I have been able to find appears contradictory. Well, possibly not. There are two fanduel channels on DTV so maybe one of those will convert, in which case the Wings and Pistons will not able to broadcast simultaneously for the rest of the season, which doesn't seem like it can be right.

Nor have I yet seen anything about the price tag. Fanduel carried a surcharge of something like $6/mo.

The delay is curious to me.  Part of me thinks they have it worked out but just want to see what the demand of the streaming portion will be.   When this first came out the article, or maybe their press release, said it pretty clearly that it would be available on existing services before opening day.  How do they know that if they haven't settled the business questions?

But i can't make sense of why it's taking so long.  I saw one game on TV this year.  Hardly any casual conversation going on amongst people I come across. Maybe with the first week being on the west coast they know numbers are lower so to the org the season doesn't start, in terms of marketing, until the home opener.

The delay in communication is poor customer service regardless of why there is a delay.  Its Monday morning, Opening Day is Thursday.  Everything should be hammered out by now.  No excuses.

For those of you who don’t want to log onto X:

Whether you plan to watch the Tigers through cable/satellite TV or streaming, here's what you need to know heading into Opening Week.

Cable/Satellite TV: One frustrating reality in sports media is that distribution deals often finalize right up against a hard deadline. For Detroit SportsNet (DSN), that deadline is Tigers Opening Day on March 26.

Ultimately, we expect DSN to be available on most, if not all, of the same cable and satellite providers (such as Comcast/Xfinity, DirecTV, and others) currently carrying FanDuel Sports Network.

If you watched Tigers or Red Wings games through your cable package last year, there's a good chance no action will be needed to watch moving forward. Assuming everything goes as expected, the new channel will appear for you later this week, likely in the same neighborhood as FanDuel Sports Network on your TV guide.

We'll share a full list of cable/satellite providers carrying DSN, along with channel assignments, soon after the agreements are finalized. Full disclosure: this could come as late as the morning of Opening Day.

There's nothing to worry about here - though it's not ideal, we've been told since the beginning that it would play out this way. All the other MLB teams transitioning away from FanDuel are in the same boat on this timeline.

Direct-to-Consumer Streaming: For those looking to stream games without a cable/satellite package, you can set that up now. Visit

tigers.com/detroitsportsnet

to learn more and subscribe.

Pricing is $19.99/month or $189.99/year (annual saves over 20% and includes access to the next Red Wings season). In-market subscribers get blackout-free access to all games, except those selected for national broadcast (NBC, ESPN, etc.).

For those looking to stream, today (March 22) is the last day to subscribe and pay $0 until April 1. Taking advantage of this gives you free access to the first five games of the Tigers season, including Opening Day in San Diego. Waiting until after 11:59 PM ET tonight means you'll miss out on this bonus value for being an early subscriber.

Please reach out if you have any questions! Happy to try and help.

it would seem there still has to be shoe to drop on cable system fees. If we are still going to get the 25-26 Wings and Piston seasons on Fanduel, and now are going to get the '26 Tigers on DSN, I find it hard to believe we well get both through this June without a pricing increment. I remain pessimistic but willing to be pleasantly surprised.
