Only that amendment missing? That smells more like malfeasance to me.

I think they stopped at the Bill of Rights. If. You think about it they're kind of "woke"

Same with the 10 Commandments

It's been funny to see people on my FB feed object to terms like "Gestapo" when every seemingly every single day presents new examples of this administration sending thugs out to disrupt otherwise non-political and benign events.

Like seriously, a ****ing baseball stadium? Is literally nothing sacred?

Literally nothing is sacred.

At some point we’re not going to need to use the word “Gestapo” to describe them any longer. “ICE” will be enough.

Have they raided churches yet?

Next we'll be back to working 12 hour days, 6 days a week.

Minors will only be required to work 10hr days, though.  Have to leave Sunday for church and 1-2 hrs of “I love America more than you” schooling.

So, the federal contracting world has a great divide; between the FAR people who work onsite with clients who have to take time off according to a tightly controlled set of rules which does not include sick leave but rather pooled time off which treats an annual vacation the same as COVID;  and the back office corporate types who have "unlimited" leave.

I would rather be in the first group because if your corporation isn't applying rules to something that means they can judge you about how you use it.   "Unlimited" is a trap.   So, anything that gives you a day where it isn't your guilt complex about slacking requiring you to not work, is a good thing.

queue up the part of Red Dawn where the two Cuban officers are talking to the American Mayor and they comment to each other that this town is indeed fortunate to have a shepherd such as this.

Yeah, if you are in the pool of people with essential skills that require the bosses to worry if you leave, people can get away with that sort of thing.  In a place where your skills are very fungible and people at the top are actively cheering on AI  and AGI's arrival so they don't have to deal with your kid's illnesses, your need for mental breaks, or your "religious" observances, its viewed as a discriminator for getting rid of oxygen thieves.

Right, it’s not so much about the holiday as it is about which holiday.

Easiest prediction in the world: Juneteenth will be replaced by Flag Day/Trump’s Birthday as a federal holiday.

I think it's a trap.   The vagueness.  A friend's place does that but they have a German office and so that complicates things because they have laws so they hint "Model it after Germany" but don't explicityly say so.

I used to hate that my place didn't let us carry over into the next year but I've grown to prefer that policy.  It forces me to use it without feeling "guilty".  Especially towards the end of the year.  "Well, if you'd let me carry it over, I'd not take these 4 Mondays off in a row but....."

Unlimited PTO has a few main purposes:

1) PTO is no longer accrued, so it’s no longer a fixed line item on a corporate budget.

2) Eliminates the cost and effort of having a time management system in HR.

3) Marketed as a perk to employees but is really a corporate mindf as many people get scared to use more vacation time for fear of being thought of as a slacker and having it impact their chances of raises and promotions.
