My father was raised to do household chores (quite rare in the Depression era, I would think). He also encouraged my sister and me to get an education so that we could support ourselves and use whatever talents we might have. My mother ended up going back to school, too-I think at least partly because she watched her sister end up with nothing after becoming a widow at a young age (after giving up school because he didn't want his wife earning more than he did). My SIL was raised by parents who paid for her brother to go to college out of state-but she had to stay home and commute (because he was the one who would be supporting a family). She was also told that her only choices were teaching, or nursing. When her parents came to visit, she would take off from work and pretend to be a stay at home wife, while my brother, who at times was a stay at home Dad, had to leave the house during the day and pretend to be at work. I've heard many variations of this-but this is already a long post. Let's just say there's a reason a lot of middle-aged and older women encourage girls to be serious about their educations. It all seems like nonsense to me-even though I know that it was a different time. I don't know whether you have HBO (or MAX or HBO MAX or whatever the heck it is), but I have just started watching the Ms. Magazine doc, and it's pretty good. 1 Quote
LaceyLou Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago I still don't get how people could be honestly ignorant of how much of a creep "The Donald" was and is. 2 Quote

A lot never paid attention to all the crap he pulled back with the casinos and bankrupting Trump Tower. If they knew him at all it was because of the Apprentice. Where they fixed up his dump of an office and made him seem bigger than life. As PT Barnum once said "A sucker is born every minute" or something like that... GalagaGuy Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Funny how Trump started calling the Epstein case a Democrat hoax right about the time he was contacted by the WSJ about this Epstein birthday letter. 🤔 Quote

guy incognito Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago I’ve had passive s*******l ideations, off and on, for decades. Typically they come maybe 2-3 times a year, and subside after a day or two. Now they’re here for a big chunk of the day, every day. Still passive, which in some ways makes it worse because I can’t even imagine doing anything to relieve the misery. I know we’re supposed to think of ourselves as responsible for our own mental health, but I’m 100% blaming Pig-King and the ghouls backing him for my current state. I just am. 1 Quote
RatkoVarda Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago The only logical explanation is that Trump did this to get close to Epstein so he could expose Bill Clinton's crimes. Quote

mtutiger Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago One thing noticed the past couple of nights is that local news (WGN) has gone long on unhinged clips from Trump/Leavitt the past couple of nights. I don't know if it means anything, but as an editorial decision, it's been a lot different than how they've generally covered Trump since returning to office. Quote

Just take it day by day, man. My hopes are that this is the bottom, and this ****storm will swing the pendulum back to better in a few years. Just need to fight and hang in there. Quote
