He'll play a lot, but I think Onwuzirike will start, if healthy.

Oops, he's out at least four games, so they will need Williams to play there.

I think the Lions are going to have a down season. Injuries/retirement/players leaving/lots of unproven rookies have made both lines big question marks going into the season, add in one of the toughest schedules I've ever seen and I can easily see this being a 9-8, 10-7 season. I do think they'll be a dangerous team if they get into the playoffs but it's going to be a real grind this season.

They’ll almost certainly step back from 15-2. The real question is how far. The start of their schedule is so brutal that the goal really needs to be to just tread water.

If they’re 3-3 after @Packers, vBears, @Ravens, vBrowns, @Bengals, @Chiefs, I’ll be happy. Any better will be great shape. Likewise, if they’re even 5-5 after vBucs, vVikings, @Commanders, @Eagles, they’ll be in good shape to hit an on ramp to finish the season, so long as they can handle divisional business in December and January.

This is the most injured football team of all time.

I hate to be that guy, but I do wonder if how hard they practice has anything to do with all their injuries. I'm no medical expert by any means. But they seem to push it hard at practice and I wonder if that has a negative effect that translates to increased injuries. If the injury bug that got to this team last year continues on this season I suspect this narrative, rightly or wrongly, will get more traction.

a lot of it is luck and just random variance regarding the number of injuries, the severity, and the timing

but yes, lots of people looking to take Dan down a notch will be pushing that - I assume they are very deliberate regarding how hard to go

Practicing hard is a big reason they play as well as they do on the Sundays, if you ease it up you may get less injuries but you're probably not gonna be as sharp come gameday.

Most of the injuries haven't been at practice, but on gameday. Last year was just a freaky amount of players going down.
