I’ve been to two in person (US Cellular Field-White Sox and Comerica Park).  Way more fun to see in person.  For Comerica, I was in LF bleachers when Bobby Abreu went off and hit a bunch there.  Even ended up on the tee vee for a brief, shining moment.

I was in the right field ones

Bryan Woo Was pitching a no hitter for the Mariners who are leading the Yankees 5–0 in the bottom of the eighth before he gave up two hits. Unfortunately I can’t watch this game, but I like seeing the Yankees lose.

The Orioles just defeated the New York Mets in a doubleheader in Baltimore and the faces in the New York Mets dugout were very, very very grim.

It was very amusing that ESPN did something like 5,000 words recently on the Mets now being a 1st class org and how both NY teams were now dominant in their leagues, just in time for both to fall out of 1st place....🤣

My favorite 2005 All Star memory was what didn’t happen. I went with my wife to the media party at Comerica. It was the last year she managed the team’s radio network.

As we were leaving, she headed to the rest room while I took a seat on a nearby bench. This little old guy sat across from me and I kept thinking he looked familiar. Right after he left, it dawned on me, Earl Weaver.

Maybe it was good I didn’t interact because I would have definitely brought up the 1971 and 1979 World Series. Back when I was a big Pirate fan

The sale of the Tampa Bay Rays from current owner Stu Sternberg to a group led by Jacksonville developer Patrick Zalupski for about $1.7 billion has been agreed to in principle and is expected to be completed as soon as September, a person briefed on the process who was not authorized to speak publicly told The Athletic on Monday.

The word is the Rays will continue to be in the Tampa Bay area.

In Tampa, says the new owner. I think that market would be happier with that.

Actual Tampa, and not St. Pete, would be much closer to most of the population and a heck of a lot easier to access

Seeing the celebrities was cool.  I saw the "hot guy" from Desperate Housewives as my wife called him.  He was in the celebrity softball game, I went to that with her and made fun of him, saying he probably can't play.  THen he hit a "softball" HR.  Then on another night I saw him at the bottom of the ramp from the 300 level smoking, that was where they let people smoke.  I also saw Richard Schiff, Toby from the West Wing.  He smiled when I said Hi.  Also saw George Will when we were leaving the stadium.

Did George Will smile?

Except for those of us in Sarasota 🤪.

the Trop is an easy hour drive when traffic is reasonable.  It was an extra 30 minutes this year to Steinbrenner Field.

But yes, Tampa makes much more sense overall.

So the Rays sales price of $1.7b is lower than the $1.8 the NHL’s Lightning sold for last year. That seems off. Is there a big real estate disparity or something?

Maybe the Lightning draw a lot better?

There at least used to be a lot of real estate that was owned in common with the Lightning; there was a whole development around the Lightning's arena (which took off better than 'the district') and the Lightning ownership group manages (i.e., gets paid for managing) at least some USF Bulls sports stuff.
