Way more fun to see in person. For Comerica, I was in LF bleachers when Bobby Abreu went off and hit a bunch there. Even ended up on the tee vee for a brief, shining moment. I was in the right field ones Quote
oblong Posted Thursday at 05:27 PM Posted Thursday at 05:27 PM The 2005 HR Derby was probably the highlight of the stadium until the 2006 season. Abreu had the whole stadium chanting "Bobby! Bobby!" Quote
IdahoBert Posted Friday at 12:08 AM Posted Friday at 12:08 AM The Orioles just defeated the New York Mets in a doubleheader in Baltimore and the faces in the New York Mets dugout were very, very very grim. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Friday at 01:30 AM Posted Friday at 01:30 AM Bryan Woo Was pitching a no hitter for the Mariners who are leading the Yankees 5–0 in the bottom of the eighth before he gave up two hits. Unfortunately I can’t watch this game, but I like seeing the Yankees lose. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Friday at 02:42 AM Posted Friday at 02:42 AM Mariners blew a 5–0 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning and lost in the bottom of the 10th 6–5 to the Yankees. Quote

It was very amusing that ESPN did something like 5,000 words recently on the Mets now being a 1st class org and how both NY teams were now dominant in their leagues, just in time for both to fall out of 1st place....🤣 1 Quote
chasfh Posted Friday at 11:47 AM Posted Friday at 11:47 AM YMMV, but I don’t mind seeing the Atlanta Braves doing a complete face-plant this year. Quote

And it’s probably mostly true and mostly justified. I was not aware of this, but it makes my day. Quote
CMRivdogs Posted Friday at 10:57 PM Posted Friday at 10:57 PM My favorite 2005 All Star memory was what didn’t happen. I went with my wife to the media party at Comerica. It was the last year she managed the team’s radio network. As we were leaving, she headed to the rest room while I took a seat on a nearby bench. This little old guy sat across from me and I kept thinking he looked familiar. Right after he left, it dawned on me, Earl Weaver. Maybe it was good I didn’t interact because I would have definitely brought up the 1971 and 1979 World Series. Back when I was a big Pirate fan Quote
1776 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The sale of the Tampa Bay Rays from current owner Stu Sternberg to a group led by Jacksonville developer Patrick Zalupski for about $1.7 billion has been agreed to in principle and is expected to be completed as soon as September, a person briefed on the process who was not authorized to speak publicly told The Athletic on Monday. 1 Quote
1776 Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago The word is the Rays will continue to be in the Tampa Bay area. Quote
