oblong Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 On the surface it seems weird. But depending on what he could have been responsible for then the start of the season could make sense. He’s been with them for a long time. Maybe he was fulfilled and wants to move on. Quote

Or maybe he wasn’t very good at the way Scott Harris wants to do analytics, which wouldn’t surprise me if it’s true. The timing is kind of interesting, though. Reddit is all in on the scandal angle. Edman85 Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 My theories... Crowded front office, personalities clashing. Between Greenberg and the new VP of Analytics hire shifting Sartori into more of Menzin's duties, he may have felt marginalized. He was named in the racial discrimination suit by the fired clubhouse employee a couple years ago. Maybe something came from that. Could just be burned out... A lot of hours. Quote

He was more that by default in the Dombrowski days, but once Avila started building up the analytics staff, Menzin's duties were more of a traditional assistant GM/jack-of-all-trades type... Edman85 Posted April 4, 2025 Posted April 4, 2025 As for timing, if your point person for contract negotiations resigns right after extension season and not getting anybody locked up long term, that may be a scab to pick at. Quote

He was reasonably well versed in baseball analytics, but I didn't get the sense that he had the sophistication of the modern analysts. Quote

IdahoBert Posted April 22, 2025 Posted April 22, 2025 Cleveland is breathing down our neck like a high school boy with beer on his breath and a pocket full of condoms. I don’t like it. They have even allowed more runs than they’ve scored and still have a 13–9 record. Quote

Especially if it’s Cleveland, the nearest major league city to us, and one we have so little rivalry history with that last year was one of few times ever we went head-to-head with them for pennant stakes. IdahoBert Posted April 24, 2025 Posted April 24, 2025 In the “good news“ department the Tigers will not be facing Baltimore’s best pitcher, Tomoyuki Sugano, because he pitched on the 23rd. Quote
