The other question is does he come back before he plays 3B? If so, he's probably off the table for 3B with the Tigers as well for any immediate future. Maybe a reason they want to give Jung the longest look they can stand despite the lack of any sign of life in the bat.

"Vierling is scheduled to play right field for Toledo on May 11, ahead of the Mud Hens' off day on May 12. He will play back-to-back outfield games on May 13-14, including center field, then he is expected to play one more game at designated hitter around May 15. From there, Vierling will split time between third base and outfield, possibly from May 16-18, to mirror the multi-positional role he fills with the Tigers."

Well…it appears as though my hope of seeing Max Clark this week in Richmond will not come to fruition as he is still at High A. This week is the only trip Erie will make to Richmond. 😢

Probably All-Star break, he goes up.

Considering Vierling is almost back, Javy Baez is playing quite well, as is McKinstry, Ibanez is loved vs LHPs, and with Lee/McGonigle/Rainer tiered in the pipeline — I can see Jung being traded since he’s still a well-regarded prospect and could potentially net a good return.  Offer him up as a 2B of the future to a rebuilding team for pitching depth.

If we’re grooming him for a trade, then we’d better send him down so he can start raking and up his trade value.

He also didn't play the full game, and it was only his first game in the field. It sounds like they were wanting to use the full 20 days alloted when the assignment started last week. I don't think an activation is imminent until we have consecutive full games in the field. I could be wrong.

It’s a lot easier to give Vierling the whole 20 games while we are winning games without him.

Could Gage Workman end up back with the Tigers?

Since the White Sox don't deem with worthy of being on their 40, I doubt any team claims him. So Detroit will have the option of buying him back if they are interested.

Best news for the week. Tigers are going to need starting pitching depth before this season is over.

You can never ever have too much starting pitching.

MCS commented in the game thread about Baltimore's rebuild flaming out. That's the advice they didn't take.

The one thing I worry about with Harris is that he may not as draft centric enough for pitchers.

Last year the top rounds minus Rainer were very pitcher heavy

Hearing from various pods that Sawyer Gipson-Long is considered a potential "weapon" as a SP by the Tigers org in a way that is Reese Olson-like.  I'm all for that.  You won't see me naysay having that.

I was at 5th 3rd the night he threw 12K in 6 IP. You never know how much of that will translate against MLB hitters, but they definitely want to find out.

Also they have done pretty well grabbing later round pitchers and enhancing their offerings, such as Hamm, Melton, J.Miller.

Funny I was just going through last year's draft and realized that Hill, Massey, and Swanson are all hurt, thinking I wish they used those picks on a less risky position type.

Pitchers - you can't live with them, you can't live without them.
