Had a feeling that would happen once they sent Hurter and Horn down.

I wonder if this is the end of the road for Kahnle...

What other move is there?  Hanifee?  Give up on Montero already?

I can’t imagine they’d send Melton down at this point.

Agree that McKinstry, Baez, and probably even Perez really belong on the bench. Should be some solid options if Torres doesn’t re-sign, with Kim, Suarez, Bichette, Bregman, etc free agesnts. I just don’t see a path for Anderson, Jung, and probably Lee next year. Carp needing a RH platoon partner also makes bench construction difficult. Wouldn’t shock me if Carp was a trade candidate.

I’ve come around on Perez.  He came into the year with more good weight and he’s shown improvement all the way around. Can never be certain of future trajectory, but the trend has been good

Toledo has a slim chance of sneaking into AAA playoffs. Erie, WMI, and Lakeland are already in for their leagues. Florida Complex League rookie team made playoffs but failed to defend their 2024 title. Both DSL teams have losing records.

Trei Cruz is raking this season.  Might have figured something out.

I noticed that too but I excitement was tempered when I realized that he is already 27. For some reason I always thought that he was drafted out of High School in 2020 like Keith.

I don’t think his age is much of an issue here.  This is first time in AAA, so it’s not like he’s mastered it over a few seasons. Plus, COVID slowed down development for for his class.  The bigger question mark is small sample size, but at least he’s giving the Tigers something to think about regarding the 40-man this offseason (assuming he would need to be protected).

Could turn into a Dane Myers with the right org.

what's the word on Clark? He hasn't played two games since leaving the game on the 19th in his 1st AB but I don't see any DL notice on his transaction page - not that that isn't often not up to date...

All it says on the injury and transaction page is that he underwent tests on his right wrist.  It hasn't been updated since the 19th (he was undergoing the tests on the 20th)

So far in Erie, both McGonigle and Clark are 30-109 (.275). McGonigle has 7 HR and 4 SB. Clark has 5 HR and 7 SB. I would think Harris would give them both a taste of AAA in September, but won't be surprised if he doesn't

After seeing McGonigle for three games, I think he needs another full year until he's ready.  Sign him next year like Basallo.

Not sure what you saw, but I think he’ll be up next year.  Maybe not out of spring training, but at some point.

And would not be surprised to see both Max and McGonigle get a long term deal.

Max is a Boras client.

Who STILL has to negotiate per his client's wishes/ demands.

If Max tells Boras "I want one of those 8 year deals with little-to-no MLB experience"... Boras will get him the best 8-year deal he can on that basis...

If Skubal tells Boras "It's Detroit or nothing."... Same thing.

On Skubal... I think he desires finding out his market value on the open market; which Boras would agree with.

On Max and McGonigle and Clark... I like those 8 year deals for kids that you REALLY believe in...

I like the Keith deal, for example...

I am not sure where to put this post, but amI understanding this correctly ? Is Kreidler no longer with the organization?

He was DFA'd, so he's off the roster. He could be claimed by another team or traded (both seem unlikely). If he clears waivers (quite possible) and I read Ed's spreadsheet correctly he can't refuse assignment, to he could end up back with the Hens or be released.

Thanks for the clarification on Kreidler. I wish him well. While he had limited ability, I have often felt that his early and repeated injuries changed his career path very sharply.

Could he not field a routine grounder or throw to 1B?

Cause his bat doesn't need more time.

Saw some quotes from Hinch that he doesn't expect him to clear waivers.

Good luck to him if he does get claimed. He did everything they asked him too, the bat just never got there. Probably be a coach one day.
