oblong Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM Posted yesterday at 05:13 PM yeah agree. And beyond the one year wonder he had some notoriety but fans got over that through the years. Quote

RandyMarsh Posted yesterday at 05:52 PM Posted yesterday at 05:52 PM The Pirates just became the NL Central favorites with the news of the DKB promotion. Quote
IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 05:53 PM Posted yesterday at 05:53 PM Sorry to hear about Chet, but glad to hear that Don Kelly is getting a chance, even though there are few pluses in this world without a corresponding minus with the previous manager losing his job, but it’s a manager’s job to be fired eventually or to move on. Willie had a few really good years but 1984 set expectations too high. After all, he won the Cy Young Award and the MVP Award that year. Unrepeatable. Quote

I don't think he deserved either the Cy Young or MVP though. When Verlander won both the Cy Young and MVP, he earned both of them. I generally don't think a pitcher should get the MVP (because pitchers have their own award), but if you allow pitchers to win the MVP then Verlander deserved it. Quote

Willie was an All Star for a few years, too. That screwball..... Quote

I think he made the allstar team in 85 and 86 based on reputation. You could make a case for 85, but in 86 he wasn't even that good anymore. Edited 23 hours ago by Tiger337 Quote
IdahoBert Posted 23 hours ago Posted 23 hours ago On the official MLB site, the Tigers pitcher for the second game is still “to be determined.“ Quote

If Mize lays an egg and the BP is used really heavy, we'll get Skubal. Quote

Agree but Willie threw an enormous amount of innings a played often. Quote

Teams often do that for the SP when there's travel after a night game. Quote

I think theres a small chance of Skubal pitching the 2nd game for 2 reasons....Mize will go deep in game one. And...it'll be a Tiger blowout win and we'll only use mopup relievers. With the Tigers not officially naming Montero the game 2 SP, you just never know. Quote
