I wonder how deeply Seattle is thinking about pushing all in and offering a few of their untouchable prospects for Jose Ramirez.

They would have the strongest lineup in MLB.

They expect Sewald to be back in early September.

Great. He and Alex Cobb can talk baseball together.

I think he's scared. Terrified of trading away a prospect who ends up being an All Star. All of these other teams making trades and improving their postseason chances and the Tigers bringing in waiver wire pickups. Ugh...

He's not scared. I guarantee he's not scared.

I like it. Build for October and get options in place. I still think something bigger is afoot.

I have no problem with these moves because you always want depth and they cost very little.  But how is this building for October?  What are the odds of Montero or Sewald making an impact in October?  I hope something bigger is afoot.

no idea if Manning ever had any real trade value; now he has none

Manning is 27, he's a bust.  It's not like the Tigers are giving up on a 22 year old.

Nah, I just don’t think he feels desperate. He’ll pull the trigger if he feels it’s a good value, as it should be.

The impact they could possibly make is a disaster type impact.

Trade pieces I might like:

  • Willie Castro
  • Mason Miller
  • Emannuel Clase (seriously)
  • Merrill Kelly

Class can’t be traded.

3 of the 4 would be dandy.

The day is still young.  I think he will prove you wrong and trade some of the prospects outside the top 7 for a Bednar, Keller, or Alcántara.  Maybe even 2 of them.  🤞

Hmm, if he is willing to let that go - there may be more that he could actually acquire. I am just not sure Harris has the ability to make deals for proven MLB talent. We will see before long and I am willing to give the benefit of the doubt. They are there now, so he should take a chance - and he does not have to mortgage the future.

Maybe “proven major league talent” is not what we need. After all, Tommy Kahnle came here as “proven major league talent”.
