The Tigers' record is 9-5 since the 1-12 horror stretch. I consider 9-5 to be acceptable and respectable. I'm not going to use more positive adjectives than that because 10 of the 14 games were at home and 10 of the 14 games were against teams under .500. I'm not going use more negative adjectives than that because 9W 5L is a .642 winning percentage.  In those past 14 games, the Tigers have averaged 5.6 runs scored and 4.1 runs allowed, for a +22 run differential.  In the 13-game horror stretch, the Tigers averaged 2.3 runs scored and 6.3 runs allowed, for a -52 run differential.

Was that in the Hargrove era? I do remember a game when the Indians were losing, maybe like the bottom of the 5th, and it started snowing. One more out was n÷ded to make it an official game.  Hargrove came out and started arguing and stayed out there long enough that the snow got too heavy and you couldn't see the ball.

The umpires had to stop the game, and it never resumed. It had to be replayed from scratch, and it saved the Indians a loss.

Here's the rule:

Prior to the 2020 season, if a game was terminated early due to weather before becoming official, the results up to the point of the termination did not count and the game was started over at a later date. But as part of MLB's health and safety protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic, all games cut short due to weather before becoming official were resumed at a later date, rather than started over from scratch, during the 2020 campaign.

The rules below remained in place.

If a regulation game is terminated early due to weather, the results are considered final if the home team is leading. If the home team is trailing, the results are considered final if the game is not in the midst of an inning when the visiting team has taken the lead.

If a regulation game is terminated early due to weather and the game is either tied or in the midst of an inning in which the visiting team has taken the lead, it becomes a suspended game that will be completed at a later date from the point of termination.

Based on this, the game would have been suspended at that point and picked up again at a later day, meaning either Tuesday or Wednesday.

I quite like the bar-like conversations they have during rain delays. It's the chucklehead stuff during actual play that I am less enamored of.

I definitely see your point there. I guess the idea is to cast the net wider to catch a more substantial set of fishes i.e. ordinary viewers than minnows like us who slip through that net.

Also - the improvement over the years in short term forecasting and the shift to postponing games before they start has made a difference since the 'old days' as a lot fewer games are started than would get called before 5 innings - which is better all  around - IMO.

Daniella on camera doesn’t hurt.  And frankly it’s a generational thing. If you have had kids or seen kids in the last 10 years attending proms then you know her outfits are not unusual.  “How do they sit down?” Is a common question.  Most wear spandex style shorts underneath. I think.

The weather service will hard time maintaining that with thousands fewer employees.
