So has Johnny been permanently displaced?

Did he laugh himself out of a job?

Recall that at the beginning of the season there were reports that the Tigers wanted him out so maybe it just took them half the season to find his replacement.

Tigers win! 4-game lead for the bye into the ALDS!

Have passed Toronto for best record in the AL by 1/2 game, but Toronto holds the tie breaker (I think,,,,)

Detroit back on top in AL and second best in MLB. Very nice turnaround

The Detroit Tigers: first in your hearts, first in the American League.

And I hear Vlad Jr may be hurt...

Toronto TV showed him motioning to the dugout and clutching his hamstring before the game during warmups. Then stretched for a ball at first base and seemed to aggravate. Then was replaced midway through the game. They're calling it "hamstring tightness" for now.

I don’t have much faith in Lange. I think it’s 50/50 he makes it to the end of the season, and 20/80 he makes the postseason roster.

I agree.  I see him as a reliever with poor control who got hot for a few months one year, walked way too many batters the next year and then got hurt.  I am not expecting much.

Over the past 21 games the Tigers' 14-7 record (.667) is the best record in the AL and tied with San Diego for 2nd in MLB behind Milwaukee. Since the night of July 26 when the Tigers fell to 60-46, as of this moment but with some of this evening's games still in progress, they have picked up in the standings:

- 0.5 game on KC

- 1.5 games on Boston

- 2.0 games on Cleveland

- 2.0 games on Seattle

- 2.0 games on the Athletics

- 2.5 games on NY Yankees

- 2.0 games on Baltimore

- 3.0 games on LA Angels

- 4.0 games on Toronto

- 4.5 games on Houston

- 5.5 games on Minnesota

- 5.5 games on Tampa Bay

- 7.0 games on Texas

- 7.0 games on Chicago White Sox

Whenever Flaherty is interviewed, you can't tell if he got lit up or pitched a shutout. He's always very lowkey.

Or got lit up.  As in lit up… if you know what I mean.

Every club in the AL Central that played today won and every team in the AL West that played today lost. I’m not sure how often that happens, but I noticed it and thought it odd.
