Speaking of ice cream, that’s really how this playoff appearance feels to me. A lot of people are mad at how the Tigers make the playoffs, which I have trouble truly understanding, since we are one of only 12 teams even in it no matter how we got there. (My buddy the diehard Mets fan knows what I mean.) But I will say that the way we got there has made me realize how precious it is to even have a chance in the dance. It almost completely slipped away from us, but by the grace of 1,000 gods, here we are. It’s another thing to appreciate just being able to have. Win or lose, I’m thrilled we’re playing today. 2 Quote

kdog Posted September 30 Posted September 30 (edited) Meadows, Carpenter, Greene, and Perez...those guys have to get big hits or they are going home. Edited September 30 by kdog 1 Quote

I don't buy into collapses and all of that. You play 162 games. Sometimes you win a lot up front, at the end, or mix it up throughout. There will be winning streaks and losing streaks sprinkled in. None are more valuable than the other. The Tigers won 87 games. The Guardians won 88. If they played 170 games maybe the Tigers win 93 games and the Guardians win 92 games. It just happens to be the numbers after 162. A win or a loss by either team will not be surprising, esppecially a 3 game series. 1 Quote
kdog Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Williams has a pretty high walk rate...they need to take walks and actually cash in during leverage. 1 Quote

Doesn’t matter who but at least half the lineup has to figure out how to put quality AB’s up against Williams and Bibee. Got to make those two work harder than they had to the past 4 times. Quote
Sports_Freak Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Another chance for Skubal to show he's a big-time pitcher. Somebody the Tigers can count on to come through in a big game. The Cleveland gameplan should be to try to get him to throw a lot of early inning pitches and get to our bullpen. Maybe bunt some more to see if he can field today. The Tigers gameplan should just to put the ball in play. Double digit strikeouts won't help us score many runs. Quote
kdog Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Horn, Urquidy and Jung were not available for this series..they are still in the options cycle per Evan Woodbery. They would be available if the Tigers advance. Quote

Tenacious D Posted September 30 Posted September 30 My Delorean and I just returned from the future. <Spoiler Alert> Guardians win 5-2. Skubal pitches well, but our lineup and pen struggle. (Don’t kill the time-traveling messenger.) Quote

Yes, and I’ve been shut out from postseason viewing for years because I’m a cord cutter. The only reason I can watch it now is that my son-in-law includes me in his YouTube TV subscription that he gets primarily for NBA. Quote
lordstanley Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Tigers are putting ball in play so far but …2 pitches 2 outs. Quote
GalagaGuy Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Oh look, Tigers already being morons. 2 pitches, 2 outs. Quote

IdahoBert Posted September 30 Posted September 30 I hope Skubal doesn’t serve up two strike zone first pitch home runs in the first inning. Quote
chasfh Posted September 30 Posted September 30 Two pitches, two outs, then two hits, one run. Just like we drew it up on the board in the locker room. Quote
