Maybe it’ll be like falling off a cliff and landing on a trampoline then ascending at a high velocity to victory. Yeah that’s it, that’s the ticket, that’s what’s going to happen.

It did happen before, after the trade deadline last year. They are all capable of being in sync and firing on all cylinders at times. Here’s to the hope that happens!

That's an impressive playoff beard.  Its not haggard.  Its not scraggily.  It is the perfect blend professional and postseason.

It's the look of a good pitcher. A sign of maturity.

"In sync and firing on all cylinders" would need to include scoring an earned run or three or six, yes?

It's a starting pitcher beard, not one of those show beards that relievers wear for attention.

Just score 8 runs or so and make it a calm game. I'm not sure i can take another 1 run nerve wracking game.

I don't think at this point in time this team is capable of scoring more than 4-5 runs in a game. The offensive ability simply isn't there right now with the way they are approaching the plate and pressing. Over the last 60 games they have a total of 269 runs and are averaging 4.48 runs per game. Their team OPS in that time frame is a paltry .713 OPS. They are who they are. Every game with this team is going to be a nail bitter because they can't drive runs in and have to manufacture what little offense they get at times. The only time it won't be a nail bitter is when their pitching lets them down and gives up 5-6+ runs in a game.

So hope that Mize and Flahrety look good, give them 7 solid innings of 3 runs or less, and hope the bullpen holds. That's our ticket to winning this series and any that come thereafter this postseason.

This all super intelligent and probably right, but did you consider they may want to make Bert happy because now it matters more?

I didn't think of that scenario. Unlike the Tigers players, I was being selfish and only thinking about the numbers and stats. Not once did I ever stop to consider Bert's feelings. For that, I am truly sorry. I do hope our guys in the dugout are keeping him in mind though.

But we've seen in the past that this offense is capable of scoring multiple runs. Whether they've done it recently doesn't matter, just do it today. And allow Mize to give us 7 2/3 of shutout ball, he's done it in the past. And that's all I want, an explosive offense and some shutdown pitching.

Yes. As well as the serendipitous exploitation of errors by Cleveland.

If with a clear, cool head, the Tigers are also boiling over with a need to make good on the promises of this season, I’ll be happy with that. And maybe they don’t even need to have a vengeful spirit, just an acute recognition of circumstances that sparks something inside. And some luck.
