Where they could actually be considered a possible destination. I don't like getting shut out of this pipeline. We have a selling point in that Michigan has far superior weather than the west coast. . . . . No earthquakes. And a winter wonderland (Offer FREE Snowmobile rides!!!) It’s not constantly burning the heck down either! GO MICHIGAN! Quote

Tiger337 Posted yesterday at 02:01 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:01 AM I think the only way the Tigers sign a good free agent is if some pitcher is not happy with his offers and signs a one year show me deal with a team with a good pitching coach and a pitchers park. Michael King? Quote

Michael King? I don't think King will go for a 1-year. If he is not happy with the long term offers he gets (or doesn't); I think some team will be happy to give him a shorter contract (3-year) at a high AAV with opt outs. Plus he costs a draft pick. Who would want to sign him to a 1-year and also lose a draft pick? Quote

RatkoVarda Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM Posted yesterday at 04:11 PM if Cubs are thinking about moving Hoerner, I would be all over that. Move him back to SS; he has the approach Harris wants. Because he lacks power, he won't get a huge FA contract going into 2027, so maybe you could sign him long term and move him to SS or 2b as needed. don't know what Cubs need. Mize also under control for one more year. Carpenter could replace Tucker's offense. Quote

He’s been on a Hall of Fame-level run the last four years and he’s one of their most popular players. But man, what a pickup that guy would be. Not sure what we would end up doing with Torres, though. Quote
1984Echoes Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Posted yesterday at 06:04 PM Hoerner would be a 1 year stopgap at SS, and then resolved once McGonigle and/or Rainer make their way to MLB. I approve. Quote
Shinzaki Posted yesterday at 07:24 PM Posted yesterday at 07:24 PM (edited) Per Passan on ESPN..Kenley Jansen and the Tigers have reached a deal on a one year contract Edited yesterday at 07:28 PM by Shinzaki 1 Quote
JackMorrisStache Posted yesterday at 07:27 PM Posted yesterday at 07:27 PM Jansen had a 2.4 WAR and 57Ks in 59 innings last year with 29 saves. Seems to still have some left in the tank at age 38. Quote
Tigermojo Posted yesterday at 07:30 PM Posted yesterday at 07:30 PM Ilitch won't spend and Harris doesn't make bold moves...who shot who in the what now? Quote
casimir Posted yesterday at 07:32 PM Posted yesterday at 07:32 PM Ok, I like this. There was a rumor earlier this week, but I didn’t consider it likely to happen. Now go get Kim, King, and Fairbanks. Quote

Graterol Posted yesterday at 07:44 PM Posted yesterday at 07:44 PM Assuming no more moves and good health, rotation would be Skubal, Flaherty, Olson, mize, Anderson. Locks in pen would be Vest, Finnegan, Jensen, Melton (or swap with Anderson), Holton, Hurter. Still would love another pitcher or 2 but doesn’t look horrible. Quote
chasfh Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM Posted yesterday at 07:50 PM I like Jansen for a year. He’s not in his prime, but he’s earned a shot at the back of this bullpen. Keeps runners off the bases, walk rate is lowest it’s been in several years, even if he didn’t strike out the world last season. And going from the Angels to the Tigers is a definite upgrade for him. Quote
RatkoVarda Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM Posted yesterday at 07:56 PM would like another LHR, but Hurter could be that guy i suppose Quote
Edman85 Posted yesterday at 08:04 PM Posted yesterday at 08:04 PM (edited) So... Jansen being a borderline HOF-er (seriously, a bit easier for relievers to get in) has me thinking: who are the most likely 2026 Tigers to be hall of famers? I'd say: 1. Skubal 2. Jansen 3. McGonigle 4. Greene? Edited yesterday at 08:04 PM by Edman85 Quote
Tigermojo Posted yesterday at 08:18 PM Posted yesterday at 08:18 PM $11 million for Jansen plus a club option. Quote
IdahoBert Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM Posted yesterday at 08:28 PM What? He’s only 37 years old? Aren’t there any 45 year-old retired knuckleballers who’ve undergone years of surgery available? Quote
Edman85 Posted yesterday at 09:18 PM Posted yesterday at 09:18 PM Fun fact about Jansen is he is a lifelong close friend of an old intramural teammate of mine. 1 Quote
Tiger337 Posted yesterday at 09:22 PM Author Posted yesterday at 09:22 PM Jansen seems like the kind of guy that might fall off the cliff any year - 37 years old with declining k rate and velocity. He might be a Joe Nathan signing or maybe they can squeeze another good year out of him. 1 Quote
buddha Posted yesterday at 09:43 PM Posted yesterday at 09:43 PM maeda, morton, and now jansen. fetter can fix a lot of things, but he cant turn back time. Quote

Motor City Sonics Posted yesterday at 11:23 PM Posted yesterday at 11:23 PM This Jensen move - feels like it's going to be Joe Nathan 2.0, And Joe had a 3.2 WAR season the year before joining the Tigers. I hope it turns out better. Quote
