Trump kneecapping the housing bill in favor of the SAVE act is really all about helping the PE friends he has who don't like the Housing Bill restricting them from buying up all the housing stock.

Yes, but there’s more.

This is not the only bill Trump is trying to hold up until he gets his voter ID bill passed. That tells me getting voter ID passed is his primary goal, for obvious reasons: It helps his party win seats, because enforcement is pushed down to the precinct level, where poll workers can use their discretion to disenfranchise, based on arcane technicalities, certain registered voters who are known or appear to be Democrat; while the same poll workers can wave through people who they know to be or appear to be Republican without their even having to show ID at all. Since the SAVE Act has no explicit requirement for documenting compliance on-site and any complaint would have to be lodged after the fact and make its way through the court system to get adjudicated, the election could be stolen at the precinct level times a thousand long before any justice would be realized.

IOW, the integrity of the SAVE Act relies more on penalties for misconduct after the fact than on a tamper-proof on-site compliance system in the moment, and an election can be easily stolen before consequences are realized—if ever.

Some of the commentary i listened to after I typed the above about the PE goons hating the Housing bill seems to downplay that aspect.  I guess real estate not so popular when there is all this AI money being thrown around.

But that's disingenuous. You can as easily turn the formulation around exactly 180 and say whenever mentions Genocide in Gaza someone brings up Oct 7 and it's the same as all lives matter. Don't all lives matter? Does Israel kill 5 for 1, 10 for 1, 20 for one? When is enough, enough? When is Israel going take responsibility for a generation of policies that help produce and empower the most radical Arabs and try something else?

Just because Hamas is outrageous and blood thirsty doesn't make the people Israel kills neatly any less dead.

They've been at this for my entire life time now and still hate each other.  Evolution of our species apparently fell a step or two short of where it needed to get.

It’s not a genocide. The population of Gaza has increased since Israel responded. Bringing up October 7th is relevant because that’s why Israel is attacking. Many of the people killed are Hamas soldiers and who are still firing rockets at Israel. These leftists were screaming genocide before Israel ever responded.

Lankford - (GOP conference ViceChair)  quoted to the effect he thinks Trump won't sign but won't veto either but I'm sure Trump will try to come up with some harebrained strategy in 10 days.

Put another way…. Speaking about Oct 7 then someone brings up Gaza or the West Bank is the same as “All lives matter”

What is a way to critique the Israeli government's policies (and US support for them)  that wouldnt elicit this feeling for you?

Celebrating Hamas murdering Jews is not criticism of Israel.

Believe it or not, 99% of those critical of Israel are not celebrating Hamas murdering Jews. That’s ridiculous. Most of know Hamas are horrific and make a horrible situation for the Palestinians infinitely worse.

Believe it or not, one of them celebrating Hamas murdering Jews just got elected to congress and thousands of people voted for her.

It would be nice if American voters had standards - 77 million wouldn't have voted or Trump.

Listening to a Bulwark pod this morning and Tim Miller is calling it that NC and Georgia are going to be token efforts for the GOP because of their weak positions there.   They will be spending elsewhere.

He says that like it's a bad thing and not why I'm probably going to send some of my fun money to the local house challenger.

He also says it like he knows for a fact how guilty as sin of actual crimes they all are.
