Doesn't appear to be any lack of qualified Dems to take Platner's spot. The answer to the question of why none of them were in the Senate race is that they all preferred to run for the open Governor gig.

Ron Brownstein discussed that with Carville and Hunt on their pod.  He says they were all worried about steering clear of Schumer's preferred candidate Mills.

Haley Stevens has a lot of gumption calling out Abdul's attitude towards woman when she  endorsed a man for President in Mike Bloomberg who called woman fat broads, horse-faced lesbians, and made them sign NDAs to silence them. She obviously wasn't troubled by Bloomberg's misogyny and sexism.

Haley Stevens released hers. El-Genocide has it made it his omnicause about where candidates get their money from and he refuses to show us where he gets his money. How is someone who never had a real job and went to the most expensive and elite medical schools a millionaire?

The most embarrassing campaign ad I’ve seen. How is this real?

This is some insane stuff.  Fortune cookies being associated with the Chinese Communist Party?  How about BYD cars?

not to mention it's a bad joke to call China 'Communist'. It's an empire with an emperor, just like it's always been - it just isn't hereditary (so far), and agriculture is run more as a sort of neo-feudel system rather than anything recognizable as a commune. Xi's frames of reference may his Leninist education in Russia, his model is more 15th Century Ming than 20th century Russia.

The PRC is a more totalitarian state than the Soviet Union was from 1953-1992  ... so basically after Stalin died.  The control over spheres of life in the PRC during Mao was super crazy.  The control over thought and action during the period of the Great Firewall is a different kind of crazy.  Like all dictatorships, nobody can trust anyone.

China right now seem to be in a different kind of place than the typical Euro or even Maoist totalitarian seutp. I think a person can live an ordinary life in China today without much of the looking over their shoulder that you still get in Putin's Russia today - on the one condition that you stay out of politics other than play in the party.. It's sort of a 'we won't bother you doing most of what you want to do in life as long as the one thing you don't do is question the Emperor."   That's why it strikes me as more like a return to a long held historical status quo than any kind of new 20th or 21st century paradigm. It's China being what China was long before the West invented its forms.

is that even a standard any more? In all kinds of places if you own a middle class house you have a million dollar asset. I'm not sure of the exact break point but you probably have to add at least another zero to sniff the 1%.
