This gives me some hope that people were simply fooled by Trump's groceries, French fries and garbage get up. Now they realize who he is. Hopefully the damage to Republicans lasts a long time and we can all progress towards the future together as free democracies.

He has immunity but the rest of them don't. You get charged with corruption and you get charged for war crimes and you get charged for excessive violence!

If the dems start winning races, that will be a big part of the why. The MAGA voter that finally gets burned out on the whole Trump circus is going to become a non-voter.

I thought that would happen in '24... but I guess the thought of a "black woman" President revived them a little.

Thought after seeing last night, including a massive polling error in New Jersey and a relatively modest one in VA:

Are surveys picking up how unpopular Trump has become more broadly, or are they weighting too heavily on 2024 results?

I was wondering that about the Virginia Gubernatorial race. Trump did a very low key, almost backhanded endorsement of Sears. Basically said she was ok when he was asked at a press scrum.

I’m not saying that’s the reason she lost. Her performance at their debate played a big part as well. In fact that whole ticket was a bit weird for MAGA, black woman, gay man for Lt Governor…….

Bottom line enjoy the win, but be prepared for the next round

I put nothing past Johnson and Vance and the rest.... you know, the kind of thing where only certain results will be accepted.  Can you really imagine a scenario where that jag off will hand over the gavel to Hakeem Jefferies and smiling?  I can't.

Sadly, I think it's more likely that they'll find a way to impose Martial Law just before the 2026 elections than they are to allow Jeffries to become Speaker.     I would say that completely shutting down Social Security and Medicare in September would piss people off enough for protests and that will be used as the reason.   That or having a bunch of Democratic politicians arrested

If that doesn't happen, the other trick is hundreds of thousands of people show up to vote on election day and are denied because some obscure law was passed.   It's all about the messaging too.   People need to be made aware of any changes, because some will be enacted.   Gonna love the sight of the National Guard at our polling places too.  That seems very pro-democracy.      Michigan needs to stay strong here.   I think Mike Duggan is going to **** it up just enough for Trump bootlicker John James to win.

And no matter the 2028 results - even if it's a Republican that wins,  Trump will not leave office in January 2029.    He'll have the military seize Washington D.C. before that ever happens.   Will our military follow him or the President-Elect in 2029.   Doesn't matter what the Constitution says.    He'll do this even if someone like Vance or Rubio wins.

And I don't think Trump won last year.   The way all the big tech guys immediately knelt down for that bastard makes me believe they cooked it in advance.

Go ahead and release the Epstein files.  Nothing will happen to Trump.  It would be better for it to happen now, so he can pardon himself.  He could get caught on video with a 9 year old and his cult will still support him.    Oh, Clinton will get arrested (and he should), but not Trump.   Oh and speaking of Epstein,  let's talk Alan Dershowitz.....

Is Dershowitz going to keep his promise to blow his brains out on live TV over the NYC mayoral race?      Is it going to be Pay Per View?

Mike Johnson ceases to be Speaker at the end of the 118th Congress, and there isn't a Congress until electeds are swore in.

To quote Ulysses Grant:

"Oh, I am heartily tired of hearing about what Lee is gonna do. Some of you always seem to think he is suddenly going to turn a double somersault, land in our rear and on both of our flanks at the same time.

Go back to your command and try to think what we are going to do ourselves"

I understand the point Leah is making, but the reality is that literally everyone already has this inclination of what Trump will or won't do... Regardless of how bad GOP losses were or weren't last night, people were going to walk away with the same impression of what's to come.

It's more constructive to focus on your game instead of constantly dooming about what Trump's gonna do

Paraphrasing one of my morning newsletters. Republicans have already telegraphed that the Mayor-elect of NYC is the face of the entire Democratic Party.  Mamdani received about one million votes in one of the most liberal cities in America (aside, you mean to tell me there wasn't at least one Republican in that entire city that wanted the job?) The best Trump and his billionaire gang could put up were at best corrupt has been talk show host, given the choice liberals preferred a socialist. Meanwhile two moderate women with national security backgrounds won governorships in two states with a combined total of approximately 3.5 million votes, including a plurality of self described independent voters.

Which branch of the Democratic Party dominated yesterday?
