Until then, what I say goes, and I say no earrings on the field". Leyland offered to have his own ears pierced if Cabrera won another triple crown, but alas, it was not to be. Quote

I think I'd rather have that than listen to the TV broadcast on the radio John Sterling sometimes simulcasts an alternative reality onto his TV broadcasts, but I don't think that's exactly what you are looking for. Probably not this well Don’t know what Isaac did last night but Wednesday night he recorded a double and a home run at AAA Durham. This trade may work out well for both clubs, hope so. Quote

So, we all realize that RPs can have their ratios, at least the traditional ones like ERA & WHIP, dinged up pretty good by a rough outing. SPs have the QS and QS% stats (which admittedly are not perfect if the floor is a 4.50 ERA). The question for the room is do RPs have a similar stat? I suppose BSs is somewhat in the realm of that, but I guess I'm thinking about something more based along the lines of something ERA or WHIP based with an IP qualifier. Something along the lines of a quality relief appearance being at least an inning with an ERA of no more than 4.50 or something like that? Tider337 is a proponent of the "clean outing" in which your inherited runners do not score, and none of your own batters score either. The inherited runners thing is huge. There was a guy here, Zach Miner, who would come in and give up a 2 run double and then settle down and keep his own ERA nice and low. Shane Greene's greatest value, I always thought, was before he was the "closer". He was the high leverage guy who could come in with runners on and put out a fire. Quote

Inherited runners can be a bit misleading. Inheriting a runner on 3rd with 0 outs is different than inheriting a runner on 1st with 2 outs. Now that you mention Lee, I seem to recall seeing some sort of stat that attributes partial runs to RPs if a runner on base scores. Something like if there is a runner on 3rd and there is a pitching change, the runner scores, the P that allowed the runner to 3rd gets 3/4 ER and the RP gets 1/4 ER. Perhaps that was in Lee's book? I can't remember. Quote
mtutiger Posted April 15, 2022 Posted April 15, 2022 Two games in a row where the Tigers opponent was spotted over 1 additional run on these metrics. Quote
