Coronavirus: Already In a Neighborhood Near You

I've talked to or heard from a lot of people who have gone through what I went through. They don't bother testing and assume it is flu and go around telling people it is flu.

Just googling, I saw some tabloidy type outlets claiming Adenovirus is the mystery illness sweeping the country. That is my suspicion, a particularly nasty strain. Sorry in advance if anybody gets that beast. It seems to be making the rounds.

And I’m guessing it will get worse this week and next as a lot of people were out of schools and work for a bit. My wife’s had a lot of patients in with “it” and a friends pediatrician office has been busy.

there is no lack of stuff circulating now. I've heard from people in the area that have had Flu A, Flu B, and Covid all in the last month, and if Edman is correct that Adenovirus is out there too, the more the merrier.

Round 3, and I probably exposed some people this time because I just went about life as normal not even thinking i was that sick. Minor congestion and morning grogginess for a few days starting late last week. I had a normal weekend: golfed, went to a house party... started losing my voice Sunday, left work Monday after I couldn't talk, but still went to my volleyball league when I felt better in the evening. Went to work yesterday. Stumbled across an old expired COVID test and I took it more out of curiosity: popped positive. If this is the current strain, it was mostly a nothing burger. Never had a fever, the "sickest" I ever was was when I lost my voice Monday and it hurt to talk.

Paxlovid is your friend if you get on it soon enough.

This is how it was when I got it in April. I was actually supposed to go to a concert that night, but felt similar as you did. Decided to test since we had one at home, and sure enough…

In no court would the defendents lawyer not be allowed to speak... if we are drawing a parallel between a rand paul chaired hearing (absolute circus) and a court of law

I watched that hearing live for a while and one thing i did think was interesting that bland paul raised was that fauci has the blanket pardon for the time period being discussed, but was still taking tbe 5th.    That does seem like an intriguing legal situation to me.

That Fauci was fine with testifying to congress in 2022 but took the 5th now is more reflective of a steep decline in congress since 2022 than it is a change in Fauci's willingness to testify.

Most of these assholes were vaxxed. They just need a boogeyman to yell at. In this case an 85 year old man that has accomplished a hell of a lot more in life than they have.

Some of this diary stuff does tarnish Fauci a bit.  Pretty clear he loved the attention, didn't want people to even discuss it being a lab leak, despite getting differing opinions from his own peers, and once things got political, he was willing to go along with what the science wasn't showing in order to keep a narrative in place (sounds like he knew about asymptomatic exposure, that masks weren't as effective as initially thought) .

As for Fauci taking the 5th but already having immunity (or pardon, may not be using the correct legal term for his situation), but whatever it is, that's for Federal.  Some GOP nut can argue that he's out of Trumps legal reach, but it just takes Trump to make one phone call to one (or more) of this MAGA State AG's.  As such, I think he's on good legal ground to plead the 5th.  That said, I do want more answers.  In hindsight there was a lot that wasn't done well.  Shouldn't mean that Fauci was criminal in his actions though.   Doesn't even mean he did a bad job, it truly was one of the most unique situations our country has faced.

In the end, no change in our normal political ways.  Dems want to make him a hero that saved us all, GOP wants to make him a villain that screwed us all.  In the end I suspect it'll come out that he was highly competent, that may have errored on the side of caution and may not have followed the science in situations where Dems felt giving some updated info may lead to idiots on the right to say "see, told you he has no idea what he's talking about."
