Is that in the ballpark (no pun intended) to the stat and scouting reports? 11.78 secs on his first triple. He reportedly did in 11.44 secs for Toledo. 1 Quote
IdahoBert Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM Posted Saturday at 01:39 AM Well, that was quite the beat down, and we did fight back, but not enough. Tomorrow is another day. Quote

Back in the early 70s they measured it by the yard at some tryouts when they used a school field that had them. They needed to beat 8.2 for 60 yards, or 180 feet, the distance from home to second base. They also did it on a track, so they didn't have get out of the batters box after hitting a ball. This guy has wheels... And that was long ago. One of the five tools. And the most important one. No wheels, you ain't going anywhere. 1 Quote

I don’t know that he was quite full sprint until after the ball went under the fielder. He definitely kicked it up into an extra gear rounding first base Quote

I have watched that interview and while I appreciate him owning it, it did seem like he was being a bit too hard on himself. Yeah he is up here to perform, but he IS making his second start in over a year, so there’s gonna be some things that aren’t 100% working for him and hopefully he doesn’t beat himself up too much when those things happen. The stuff is definitely there, just have to get that location dialed in. Those first two HBPs seemed to affect him a bit based on what he said in the interview. Quote
IdahoBert Posted Saturday at 02:16 AM Posted Saturday at 02:16 AM I really like these young guys. The only thing I can think of to describe them is the antiquated term of “Moxie.” They have this old-fashioned grit and Moxie. They play hard, real hard, and if it wasn’t outlawed years ago - and I don’t know if it’s even technically possible - they’d be sharpening the spikes on their cleats just like Ty Cobb. Quote
papalawrence Posted Saturday at 05:40 AM Posted Saturday at 05:40 AM Rangers lost. Det still in the WC. Toronto is coming on strong, only a game behind Det. I could see all 3 WC coming out of the East. Quote

A restaurant down the street from me is called Moxies. I down my drink with verve and dig into my beef bowl with gusto when there. https://moxies.ca/restaurants/west-georgia/ 1 Quote

He was not that slow before his body broke down in his 30s. He had below average speed for an MLB player, but was not embarrasingly slow. I think hitting is the most important tool in the modern game, but speed is very important. It's not just sprint speed, but quick acceleration and lateral quickness. Quote

Along those lines, forum favorite Josh Naylor is up up to 23 SBs vs 6 CSs this season. Now that’s just a microcosm of base running in total, but that dude is going to get another 30 SBs? And this after double digiting in just one other season before last? Come on, that’s just nuts. 1 Quote
