For large races they ask that you go in a corral  based on your pace. After doing the freep marathon twice I learned to ignore that.  For a half my pace is about 11:00. I had to dodge walkers for 2 miles.
to go along with this are people who run or walk more than 2 astride.
I could go on and on.

This was a large one. I was in the 8-9 min corral and was juking around them the whole way until I just walked off because it was hazardous and my foot was already going numb from the ankle trauma.

A group of friends used to do the Susan G Koman 5K every year.  We all had younger families, small children in various stages of infant through kindergarten.  We stayed towards the back, referred to ourselves as the stroller division.

Good news, my wife had knee replacement just over a year ago. A bit surprising that it is now basically outpatient surgery. She's just about fully recovered except for the occasional flashes she gets from a nerve or two. We did several longish walks/mini hikes while on vacation, including a few tough hills with no problems.

The only really scary part was when she fell in the bathroom the first night post surgury. She had the walker but just went down, nothing was damaged in the process outside of her pride. She had a minor tumble earlier in the evening which turned out to be instrumental in getting her back on her feet the second time. i was asleep and she didn't wake me til she fell.

Yikes! That sounds scary. I'm glad everything worked out all right.

In my case I think I was still affected by anesthesia enough to not be spooked too much.

Related to this, when I ride on the Bloomingdale trail here, people frequently go three or four abreast, which they have a right to. But I really dislike how some of them bleed over into the other way lane, the directions being clearly marked with yellow stripe down the middle.

I also dislike single walkers/runners who walk smack down the middle of the lane, right on the yellow dividing line. I tend to pass them on the right, staying in my way lane, which feels wrong, but keeps me from veering way over into the other lane.

Along the same lines.... it's frustrating when people are in a big hurry to get in front of you, but then slow way down. This is especially annoying when there's no-one else in sight.

We've got a lot of construction and dirt moving around here these days. Between new lanes on the  interstate and subdivision building there is a small army of dump trucks who may or may not be properly licensed and pass saftey inspections driven by folks who seem to be paying half attention.

Between the "Not Responsible" signs and drivers deciding on their own what the speed limit should be at any given time, getting around is a challenge. Especially on the interstate that includes tourists, young military personnel who love to pretend they're NASCAR drivers and larger trucks carrying huge containers to the ports in Norfolk and Hampton.

I've lived in Chicago and Detroit, those drivers don't hold a candle to what I see around here on any given day.

Family member decided, back in November, to have his third wedding next weekend. Yeah... because nobody's busy or stressed in December.  And it's a big wedding.  300+ people.  My wife has to buy her third bridesmaid dress for him.  It's ugly.  Ugly shoes.  Now we get the notices for not only 1, but 2 rehearsal dinners, along with her instructions for hair/makeup.  She's dropped $500 on this damn thing.

Just complete lunacy.

I made an appointment to receive a phone call today at 12 pm EST. I also asked for a reminder text, which was to be sent 2 hours before the call. Both 10 am and 12 pm came and went, with no text and no phone call.

I received the reminder text finally at 12:35. So now, who knows when or if the phone call will come.

UGH.

Reminders for doctor's appointments. I don't mind a reminder a couple days before or even a text confirming an appointment the day before. I really don't mind having to fill out the questioner before the appointment, it does save time.

But the constant reminders on MyChart about the appointment, confirm the appointment, aign. in again and confirm that I confirmed the appointment is a bit too much. I'm 73 not 13

Whatever Boxing commission or authority that allowed that fight last night are lucky that Jake Paul didn't get himself killed.

What people think is entertaining these days is sad and bizarre, but it encapsulates the overall state we're in as a country.

Can we stop it now?   Can he just go back to being another annoying "influencer?".

Non-Boxers shouldn't be allowed in a ring with real boxers.    I don't care how much training he's done.  It's something you need to have been doing since youth.  It has to be in the DNA.  It takes a lifetime of dedication to go into the ring wtih other boxers.

Not a peeve, just a full out WTF. We've been going round and round the past week with Wayfair. My wife decided she would like an electric fireplace after visiting family over Thanksgiving. She found what she wanted on Wayfair. OK, the price was reasonable, it's Christmas, let's do.  She ordered a combination TV stand and fireplace. Two boxes were delivered around December 6. One contained the TV cabinet the other a fireplace insert. We put the cabinet together, the fireplace insert was two big.

That started a whole chain of calls and texts to Wayfare. Pictures included to show the boxes and the problem. OK they shipped a second box, this was supposed to be the correct stand. Nope, its another insert, the same size as the one they sent before. Wayfare is blaming it on the manufacturer. Meanwhile I'm trying to get clarification on whether or not we need to return something since they are giving us mixed symbols. I forgot to add, I broke down the box that contained the stand, trying to be helpful, and get it ready for the recycling center.

We spent the morning taking apart the stand and taping together the box that evidently they now either do or do not want depending on who we get on the phone. The stand and both inserts are now sitting in the garage either waiting to be returned or put on the next neighborhood yard sale. There is another delivery coming at an undetermined time with either a new stand or a third insert.

Meanwhile the TV is sitting on the floor, waiting for someone to attach it to the wall tomorrow morning.....
