CMRivdogs Posted Wednesday at 07:06 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:06 PM We need a health thread. Anyway, I found this study interesting and the snarky comment at the end very true. Meanwhile I've switched to Half-caff, a bit too early to give an opinion here Quote
CMRivdogs Posted Wednesday at 07:23 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:23 PM (edited) This is really cool. One of my favorite Rockwell Paintings being donated by a former Il governor. https://www.audacy.com/wbbm780/news/local/former-il-governor-makes-major-donation-to-chicago-museum?utm_campaign=Evergreen&utm_term=19537483989&fbclid=IwVERFWAP5td9leHRuA2FlbQIxMQBzcnRjBmFwcF9pZA8xNzM4NDc2NDI2NzAzNzAAAR6xf0avp-uahodJis8-E3EzZVuJc0X_qoV0FO3pyEr9vkkoKJL8Pas1jHK9sw_aem_1Xz9Vl51PXQxv54BNVEXFA Edited Wednesday at 07:24 PM by CMRivdogs Quote

Meanwhile I've switched to Half-caff, a bit too early to give an opinion here I drink one or two 12-16 oz. servings of coffee a day. I grind Ethiopian beans and usually brew a rounded 1/4 cup in a French press. And if it allegedly helps me not have dementia I’m all for it. Quote

And then I eat five strips of bacon. And for lunch, I eat a bacon sandwich. And for a midday snack? Bacon! A whole damn plate! And I usually drink my dinner. Quote

(although to be perfectly honest, what's in an actual fire probably isn't all that much worse than what's in the bottle.....🤷♂️) Edited 10 hours ago by gehringer_2 Quote
CMRivdogs Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago I had a big battle with boredom eating. Basically a long commute had me picking up a "snack" along the way. My weight ballooned to about 250. Right now health problems and reactions to medication has brought it down to around 155. It helps in a way my medication does no tolerate soft drinks well, and my appetite is a lot less than what it was. I'm still trying to get in around a mile walking each day when possible. I still need to concentrate on light weight training to build muscle. Still a struggle but as a wise man once told me, "Take it inch by inch". Quote
chasfh Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago I am super lucky that, while blissfully ignoring my New Year's resolution by sitting on the couch munching a bag of shelled peanuts and watching TV after another day at the salt mines, I was motivated by a Vic Tanny ad in the Free Press on January 31, 1989, to go join up. As I remember the cost was $72 a year which was supposed to be fixed for a lifetime. I became aware six years later that the fine print allowed them to jack up the price after six years, which they did, to $99. Either way, because I was motivated to use the gym if I was going to have to pay for it, and I have been working out on the regular ever since, 37 years this month. And here is that ad. Quote
