I really doubt he posted those. Someone else does it for him.

I think if they want to tweak the settings they can just adjust the ball within their wide tolerance band a bit between seasons to account for the ebb and flow of the player pool. This is what they have already been doing to suit their desired outcomes already, isn’t it? If I remember correctly they did it midseason a few years back to juice homers.

I think if anything it’s self-motivating. I don’t see it at as a dig at the tigers in the slightest. I suspect now that he got that real 40-man spot he’s probably pretty happy and excited. I’m sure he knows he’s ticketed for a return to Toledo at some point soon given how many guys are on the IL. But he probably also feels pretty secure against a DFA, and that 40-man spot means he’s going to be getting these promotions more frequently. I don’t think a guy like Jung feels similarly now that workman has those 40-man bona fides.

agree with your assessment. This is a case where many things are true all at the same time. There is a genocide in Gaza and what many in the IDF and others are doing is horrific. I just read something yesterday about rapes and beatings of women and children. What happened on Oct 7, 2023 is equally horrific. Netyenyahu is a bitch and finally got Trump to do his bidding. He's a horrible individual. Jews are being targeted with antisemitism and also people conflate criticism of the government in Israel with anti semitism. It's all true. But too many are forced to pick "sides" and have to tread lightly without offending someone who they also agree with on nearly everything. I refuse to pick a side and pretend that's pure and free from atrocities.

the protests at universities, the harassment of jewish students, the violence against jewish students, the increase in violence against jewish people all over the country, especially in large cities. swastikas painted in new york and other places. there were violent attacks last week against jewish people in new york again outside a synagogue. there are security details in chicago assigned to synagogues up here by me. multiple jewish people have been shot walking down the street in chicago over the past few years. there has been a huge uptick in anti-semitic violence in major cities. yes, the far right is always against jews (see tucker carlson and that nutty band of ignorant ****s), but now you've seen it in liberal areas as well. the human rights commissioner for chicago recently resigned because mayor johnson insisted that she amend her report on anti-semitism in the city. the report cited the huge upsurge in violence and threats against jews in the city, but johnson refused to release it unless it was changed to focus on other minorities. the equivalent of making "black lives matter" into "all lives matter" so the report could be diluted and it wouldnt upset his far left supporters on city council like sigcho-lopez or rossana rodriguez. the anti-israeli art exhibit at the chicago city museum. the attacks on the two israeli students at depaul. again, protesting israeli military actions in the middle east is one thing - everyone is entitled to their opinion on the war. but its spilled over into a huge surge in violence in urban areas, fed largely by online agitators and the hysterical and over-the-top way we present news on social media now. people are taking out their feelings about israel on jewish citizens. its akin to people assaulting asians after covid, but on a much much larger scale. we have 3000 years of history telling us how people treat jews differently.

A few things bothering me. First, how easy Detroit is switching when Cleveland sets a ball screen. There was a play last night where Cade was on Harden and Harris on Mobley. Harden was just crossing mid-court when Mobley set a screen where Cade and Harris just switched without Mobley even touching Cade. Why not try to fight through the screen? You are 45 feet from the basket. Better yet, blitz Harden and use the mid-court line as a third defender and try to force it out of his hands or him turning it over. Second, the lack of double teams. I understand they don't want to double because of Cleveland's three point shooting. But Detroit has multiple guys getting beat on the perimeter which causes them to rotate and leave three point shooters open anyway. Send the double before the defender is beat. It gives you a shot at a turnover. But more importantly, it allows Detroit to dictate a little more how the rotations will go. When a guy is beat, the closest defender has to come off of his man to help. You don't get to pick who that is. If you double, you can pick which Cavs player you come off of to send the double and most likely you're picking one of their lesser 3PT shooters. Slight advantage, Detroit. -
And yet I’d bet money the vast majority of MAGA veterans will either give him a pass on it, or fully embrace this as a respectful gesture of support. Or am I wrong, @Tigeraholic1?

You’re close—more like, they’ll explain it to you like they’re a four-year-old.

This makes it look like the mechanic in color is the Republican and Rickets in black and white is the Democrat. Either way, whoever wins will caucus with the Republicans anyway.

I honestly don’t know what you’re referring to when you say this. I might be a bit ignorant of the details you’re aware of.

I’m guessing those picks would have been in addition to 50. If it didn’t include 50, I would make that trade all day. -
Theoretically, I’m not opposed to the idea of moving the mound back measurably, like a couple of feet or so, to provide extra time for the batter to react to the balls, although there would be a bunch of consequences to reckon with. One of the big consequences would occur when a pitcher moves up from a 60’ 6” league to a 62’ or 63’ league. Besides the extra strain that gets put on a pitcher’s arm as they try to make up the difference without losing their velocity (because pitchers are human and they’re going inherently to want to preserve that as is), they would also have to rework their entire repertoire of pitches to go 62’ or 63’ instead of 60’ 6”, and there are going to be casualties along the way, both in health and career terms. Also, that would mean all the minor league teams would have to move their mounds back, as well all the independent pro teams that feed players into the systems, and probably all the college teams as well. Elite high school teams in California and the south, which feed pitchers into organized ball, would feel pressured to move their mounds back, too, which might force entire state high school athletic associations to mandate the move, which would cost taxpayer money. And if the Asian leagues don’t comply as well, that would reduce the amount of pitchers that could step right into a rotation or bullpen and contribute to a big league team. So all the mounds in Japan all the way down to the high school level (and HS ball is HUGE in Japan) might well have to make that move. There are probably other consequences as well, but that’s one big one that occurs to me.

so reed outplays duren all series (all playoffs) but only sees the floor when the team is down 20. ausar has two bad plays in a row and sits for the rest of the half. -
He's just got this huge pile of whatever substance (adderal?) in front of him and his sister just eloped with his friend...he's got troubles because Sosa is angry he failed to kill the guy who testified at the UN. Or, He's got this cocktail of drugs administered to him in the bunker by his doctor to keep him going, and his field marshals keep telling him the war is going badly and so he needs to rail about his old political adversaries. Or, [insert some Hunter S. Thompson-esq ref to Nixon in the final days of Aug 1974] He's got nothing left to gild, destroy, or to make shabbier so he's got to go against Obama.

stewart is hurt. has to be. he cant even jump. which is concerning because that's two years in a row when he's been hurt for the playoffs. maybe being undersized is causing it, but whatever it is, its not helping when it matters. -

If this goes 6 games the ECF's will probably start the 17th. 7 games and it will be the 19th. That is 7 or 9 days off for NY. That is pretty valuable rest even if it means a little rust in game 1. Well worth it.
