  1. Past hour
  2. Not really. It could all be true and he could still be out 2-3 months.
  3. I suspect they will go BPA, but would not be shocked to see a pitcher here.
  4. Wake me up when he starts to “long toss”
  5. Seems to fit the profile - solid bat to ball skills with questionable power - sounds similar to Yost and even McGonigle (not saying his bat to ball is anywhere close to McGonigle)
  6. BURN THIS MUTHA DOWN
  7. A bit disheartening but not unexpected. The way the state constitution is written negates any effort to copy the true gerrymandering of MAGA states
  8. Maybe this is wrong but the comfort I take in the team not playing great is that most of my baseball fan experience is at the games themselves. I don't like empty stadiums but packed stadiums annoy me. I enjoy being at the ballpark. My seats are easy to get to. The bathroom is 30 feet away. I can see the entire field. I'm outside. It's great. When the team is in contention the stress level goes up because I actually care if they win or lose.
  9. Silva and Mattison both hit hard.
  10. He hates America and thinks African Americans are not real citizens
  11. i caught some of the mudhens game on mlb network last night (i was able to watch -- i don't know how). the announcers didn't identify the pitcher and i didn't bother to look up who it was but he looked pretty bad. memphis was hammering him
  12. i never understood the reasoning for cutting this guy loose as nonchalantly as they did. he seemed like a great fit for tiger stadium and early comerica park. 'randy smith' is all i can say
  13. I honestly think the Raptors would have given a much better series than the Cavs. Harden is sooooo bad. Mitchell doesn't try at all on D.
  14. Today
  15. Walks are up to 3.63 per game so far which would be the highest rate since 2000. I am not sure whether walks are typically up early in the season, but walks also went way up after they started using it in AAA. Of course, there could could be other factors which cause the increase, but it is plausible that ABS would be the reason.
  16. If he returns and shoves...I'll be happiest. I'm just concerned this is designed to secure ticket sales for the rest of the year or some other financial reason.
  17. the key is you have to enjoy watching a baseball game in an of itself, not only as a piece of a standings race or WS quest. Ernie did. This also goes to the root of why some people say they don’t care if the team is bad for 10 yrs if they can win 1 WS per decade and others don’t care so much about championships but don’t want to watch a bad baseball team yr to yr. Baseball is both a team competition and a pastime.
  18. That's a great attitude which I used to share. I find it more difficult to do now since I have too many competing activities.
  19. Is it true that ABS is expected to increase scoring?
  20. doubly true if ABS increases average scoring.
  21. Indeed it is! I saw an article in which Ernie Harrell was asked how he as a broadcaster can stay engaged while calling games when not only a team’s chances to win the division was loooooong gone, but they were mired firmly in last place, and he replied that you simply have to look at each game as a discrete event, one that’s the most important thing in the world right now, and you treat it as that in the moment. That makes so much sense to me, and remembering that helps keep me engaged with the team when things are going rough overall.
  22. I don’t think bunts could ever get back to what it was in 1978. That was a hangover year in the AL from both the pitchers’ era (low scoring) and from pitchers have recently batted (terrible hitters), so managers were still conditioned to sacrifice outs for a single run.
  23. Tigers put their update out Friday afternoons. It will probably say he had successful surgery Thursday and is completing rehab daily.
