  1. Past hour
  2. The Corrine Brown example cuts the other way: Florida’s mapmakers used race and partisanship together, and when Black voters were cracked out of the district, Black representation fell and Republicans benefited overall. But the VRA was intended to prevent minority vote dilution, not to engineer “competitive” districts for Democrats. Without Section 2, legislatures would have far more room to crack or pack minority voters until they no longer have a realistic chance to elect candidates of their choice.
  3. No, maybe best player to fill in, short term. Protect SS in case of emergency. Don't have to worry about options or putting another player on the 40 man roster And a RH bat. They're leaving the better, future player, in Toledo. Instead of sitting on the bench in Detroit for two weeks. Or....you were being sarcastic? 😅😅
  4. This seems backwards to me. Majority-black districts are not just “pack Dem voters to help Republicans”; Section 2 exists because Black voters were already being cracked and packed so they couldn’t elect their candidates of choice. A fair opportunity district can be both legally required and politically Democratic-leaning, but that doesn’t mean it’s a GOP-favoring gimmick. Minority representation and partisan advantage are related, but they're not the same thing, and the legal question is vote dilution—not whether Democrats lose a seat somewhere else.
  5. Probably true. I have to admit I’m tired of waiting for Jung to break out. This is one of those situations for which there’s no easy fix within the organization right now.
  6. That could be like Anderson pumping up Pittaro. It is just hard for me to believe that someone who has become a journeyman infielder is worth getting excited about.
  7. Both offenses being terrible causes issues for guys like Stewart or Ron getting more minutes. You run into diminishing returns by playing guys that provide defense and no offense.
  8. I guess that’s true, although I’ve heard the manager of the Mudhens claim otherwise. I’m not sure how many chances the Tigers owe Jung. Maybe he’ll stick this time.
  9. Can't say I'll lose any sleep over this list. Maybe Reader would have been nice depth, but they replaced him with youth which is fine. Maulet and Cunningham are maybe a little surprising just in terms of the depth at those positions, though they're both older guys who again could be replaced with youth.
  10. Those are my favorite kind of retorts.
  11. I think the Tigers see Jung as the better player.
  12. I don't know that Workman is more worthy than Jung based on one month at Toledo. Since they let him get away two years ago, I think they see him as a flawed player. Not that Jung isn't!
  13. Today
  14. I don’t care who is “a prospect” or not. I just want to see the best player possible, but there are rules and protocols that need to be followed and I guess that’s what this is.
  15. It’s my backyard that is the nightmare. Flower beds and rose of Sharon etc. .
  16. Problem with Stew is he's too easily baited into doing stupid **** and drawing T's. Duren has been locked up by Orlando jamming the paint, Ausar refuses to shoot...he drives into the paint and then drives out again without even trying to shoot...he's like Dennis Rodman at this point. They have about 2 hours to figure this out
  17. It could be argued that Jung isn't much of a prospect either. Kind of sucks that merit didn't win out.
  18. Over after today's moves... assuming frozen roster the rest of the way. As guys get healthy and more guys are on minor league split, this will go back under. 19. Gage Workman is not an actual prospect, and despite any number of snarky retorts someone could reply with, Jace Jung is.
  20. He is not much of a prospect anymore and the Tigers 40-man has gotten more competitive. He has bounced around between three different organizations recently.
  21. Is bet365 offering odds on who gets injured today?
  22. McGonigle SS Torres 2B Keith 3B Greene, R LF Dingler C Carpenter RF Torkelson 1B Pérez, W CF Jung, Ja DH
  23. Indeed. Nothing will get by him today.
  24. Jung is DHing today, which is his best defensive position
