  1. Past hour
  2. I think there is a cascading effect of losing meadows steady defense in center…lots of guys moving around…plus Gleyber looks like a corpse. offense and starting pitching will be fine in the macro…bullpen and defense I have no idea.
  3. By the way, we all know this will not be the extent of Republican attempts to fix the election, right? Especially given all the open talk of impeachment and imprisonment of Republicans once Democrats take the House and Senate. If this bald-faced upfront cheating on redistricting doesn’t work, there will be other strategies employed during the election and on the backend, because if anyone thinks Trump and the Republicans are going to just sit around and allow a free and fair election to strip them of power and expose them to criminal liability, they’re delulu.
  4. Well, this was inevitable, wasn’t it? I debated whether to put this in the Election Fraud thread, because it does relate.
  5. Nobody in this draft needs a DE and certainly not one from a blue chip program like Michigan and it is purely coincidental that the team Detroit traded in front of also took a DE and certainly there is no way that the head coach of that team Detroit traded in front of who was that players defensive coordinator for a national championship year had any interest in drafting him and he was a first time head coach anyway so there's no way he had any say in who was getting drafted and he would have been on the board anywhere Detroit wanted to pick him... It is insane the extent to which people invent conspiracy theories to try to disprove conclusions that are obvious.
  6. Last 7 days of Bullpen Issues Harris is going to need to upgrade this by the deadline or we will flame out again
  7. i dont know. im just venting. that being said, he's done this multiple times in the past that had people scratching their heads and its those times that he's missed the most frequently. otoh, those trades were for obscure players who werent on anyone's radars. Moore was a knwon quantity and is generally considered - like miller as you point out - high floor, low ceiling players. the exact opposite of broderick martin and giovanni manu.
  8. It would be really unusual for a bat to be hanging around the playing area of a major league stadium without anyone noticing it or play being stopped to deal with it.
  9. This is only the second time in history this specific situation occurred in history: (1) Tigers take a five-plus run lead, then (2) lose the lead to go down two-plus runs, then (3) retake the lead, but (4) end up losing the game: July 19, 2008 at the Orioles: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/BAL/BAL200807190.shtml June 25, 1934 at the A’s: https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/PHA/PHA193406250.shtml That 1934 game was extra special because between (2) and (3), we tied the game, then went down a run before retaking the two-run lead.
  10. The answer is also in the Umpire Manual. Interpretation #78, titled “Ball Strikes Bird or Animal,” reads: If a batted or thrown ball strikes a bird in flight or other animal on the playing field, the ball is considered alive and in play, the same as if it had not touched the bird or animal. If a pitched ball strikes a bird in flight or other animal on the playing field, the pitch is nullified and play shall be resumed with the previous count. So in the Randy Johnson scenario, the umpire nullifies the pitch entirely and the count simply reverts to whatever it was before. No pitch recorded, no ball or strike added, no dead ball award to runners. Just wipe it off the books and go again. After a moment of silence, of course. The closest numbered Rule in the Book this interpretationt probably draws from conceptually would be Rule 8.01(c): “Each umpire has authority to rule on any point not specifically covered in these rules.” Me, I’m just trying to imagine how a pitched ball could strike any “other animal”.

  12. Today
  13. Turn the page. Bounce back. And, maybe, try throwing strikes?
  14. So what are the Lions remaining picks? Go for secondary and linebackers help?
  15. The Tigers pitchers inability to throw strikes was the biggest issue. Hitting 4 home runs while scoring 8 runs and losing? That's on the pitching.
  16. How do you know that they would have been there at their original pick? Because of scouting grades? It always drives me nuts when fans say this as if a smart GM like Holmes doesn't have an inkling or some intel that his guy might get taken earlier.
  17. DEN-MIN and NYK-ATL will play their 4th game today. Same day we play our third.
  18. I feel similar about the Miller and Moore. I like them, I get the picks, they filled big needs which is the important thing but I feel like some upside was left on the table. It seems like Brad has changed his approach a bit of swinging for upside by playing it safe which is actually fine since the Lions should be in win now mode and could use some high floor prospects that are Day 1 starters. Lets say I'm whelmed, content might be the right word but not excited.
  19. Im not blaming Hinch just asking him to fix it.
  20. Rockets and Blazers both choked away leads tonight.
  21. Harper is having a game.
