  1. Past hour
  2. Larkin had 79 points...in no universe I'm aware of was Jack Eichel a better player than Larkin is now..and Larkin has a cheap deal with five yeears to run Vegas gave up more to get a damaged Eichel than I'm asking for (regardless of how Krebs turned out, he was considered a top prospect at the time and Tuch had a 20 goal season in Vegas) Larkin is a top 2 way C with 5 consecutive 30 goal seasons...he was a key member of the National team. Misa is a prospect...the 2nd overall pick will be a prospect. You think giving up a two way star for two prospects is too much?
  3. a friend texted me to say that Elon lost his billionaire status
  4. Would Duren go to Milwaukee is the question. Maybe if they were offering a lot more money.
  5. He got the #16 overall pick AND Alex Tuch who had previously had a 50+ point season. Take away Tuch from the trade and I'm sure Buffalo could have asked for a higher pick if Vegas had one to give. I presume Tuch was added in because pick #16 by itself wasn't enough.
  6. Wow… I knew JV had given up at least a couple home runs, but I didn’t realize he’d given up four. Can’t see limiting Montero‘s contributions to this team out of sentimentality, at least in relation to Verlander.
  7. Flaherty's walk rate is up, but he has the highest K/9 of his career.
  8. Part of why I was so shocked by the Larkin request was it seemed like the Wings have done extremely well by him and his family. Multiple leaves for family stuff. Putting his parents/wife/kid in a suite for home games, having his wife and kid in the tunnel for Dylan to say hi to before hitting the ice, etc.
  9. Today
  10. The hfboards person I referenced seems to think the Wings are going to trade Larkin and DeBrincat this summer. Faulk, Gibson and Copp at the deadline. Get a top 5 pick in the next draft. Would be quite a reset. It makes some sense but scares the crap out of me. Theoretically it would bring in a lot of assets though....judging by how people view our scouts and front office I imagine it would scare a lot of people.
  11. I did one in Gelsenkirchen, Germany in 2006 before Poland vs Ecuador as we made our way into the stadium (I saw your post on the previous page about being Polish-American; four of my greatgrandparents were born in Poland and I made around 15 trips to Poland in the 2000s). For a country that has seen its share of defeats on and off the soccer field over the centuries, our fans sure were (over-)confident about making easy work of the South American side. Instead got smoked 2-0, oof.
  12. Does Milwaukee want Duren? I'm not a huge fan of Brown (the person) and his contract is crazy, but a starting perimeter group of Cade, Brown, and Ausar would be insane. You'd probably have to use up all your picks/assets not to get laughed out of the room, so you're stuck with just the MLE and re-signing Tobias in order to fill out the roster. Still, that would be a heck of a "push in all your chips" move to get a second (real) All-NBA player alongside Cade.
  13. I'll drop it since I don't want to be a downer, I really wish I had this sort of optimism in me!
  14. Sounds like Reaves agent has been putting in a lot of work leading into free agency.
  15. Whether conservative or liberal, the youthful ardor and earnestness for ideological purity almost always get tempered by exposure to cold hard reality.
  16. eichel was 24 at the time of the trade and a better player than larkin. he waa also coming off experimental surgery which is why he went for aa low as he did. and he got the 16th pick in the draft in return, not the #2 pick in the draft. when was the last team that traded a top 2 pick for a 30 year old?
  17. When they arrive in DC they make already bad drivers worse.
  18. larkin and edvinsson for misa or #2 plus a player has been posited by some people. sharks need a top defenseman.
  19. jesus, i thought "i" overvalued dylan larkin...
  20. When Eichel was traded to Vegas, Buffalo got Tuch AND a first round pick back in return. I think the trade proposal with San Jose would just be Larkin straight up for the #2 overall pick. Not adding a quality NHL ready player to the deal, like an Alex Tuch, changes the asking price I would think. Thus, making our ability to get the #2 overall pick for Larkin that much more feasible.
  21. I've done a few marches through the streets for US World Cup Qualifying games. Gosh, it would be cool to do that for a World Cup Game. If I was smarter way back in the day, I would've realized when the US opened at the Silverdome there probably was a march. That was my opportunity that I blew. But I was a rookie just learning then. Had no clue marches to the stadium existed. If I lived on the west coast, It would be fun just to do the march even if you don't have a ticket for the game. Just walk to the point of the ticket gates.
  22. Driving in Boston? Who would want to? I've driven in a lot of big cities and I think Boston was the worst of the worst. Got stuck in the loop (if you call it that) downtown and couldn't get over to exit and was stuck doing about 10 laps until I could. Of course that was the wrong road, but I got out. I was trying to find a truck dealership on Beacon St. I was lost so I gave up. Came up to a toll booth and paid the guy a buck or two and asked where was Beacon St. was. He said, you just got off of it. Really, how do I get back on? Do a u-turn he says. Right, a u-turn across 3 or 4 lanes of traffic? Everybody else does he says. So I did. Of course I had to go through the toll both on the other side. Guy wanted two bucks and I said I just paid over there. That's over there, and this is here, give me the two bucks. OK. What a mess the traffic was. That was years ago during the "big dig" so that probably didn't help. The taxi ride to the airport was a hoot too. I think the guy ripped me off big time. I didn't care since it wasn't my money and a neat way to see the city without having to drive.
  23. Or when a groundball pitcher is on the mound for the other team...
  24. There will inevitably be some very strong teams (at least one) that somehow falls to third (in the past that would've been a shocking team out of the tourney) but gets one of those third-place spots and a first-place team won't be happy. 🙂 That's got to happen you figure. But in some ways it actually assures stronger teams do advance because they have the third-place option to still make it to the elimination rounds. So I'm guessing this format will actually help more good teams (again even if it is just one or two teams that need it) make it to the round of 32 and still have a chance to win this thing. Single elimination always opens up the chances for "not the best" teams as we advance, but I don't care about that. If a team makes it to the quarterfinal, they are going to have to beat a good squad in one of those two games and will still have to win one of those contests. Will the quarterfinals be weaker? I don't know about that. Again, any squad that gets there will have to beat two teams, and if they are a weaker team at the very least one of those teams will be favored against that squad, if not both. And if they win those two games, who is to say they are actually "weaker?
  25. Curious to see if the Giannis trade is done by draft night or not. Most of the rumored packages are pretty underwhelming IMO. The Celtics one for Brown is the best I think. I'm just skeptical Boston would give him up. I'm not sure it makes them all that much better if they do.
  26. Someone on the hfboards who seems to be plugged in somehow said that the Wings have discussed trading Edvinsson to the Sharks??? If that's true then I could see some sort of package around that bringing back 2nd overall or Misa. Was kinda shocked to read that though.
