  1. Past hour
  2. The entire team is unlikeable. Dumb guy with a stupid looking jump shot. The abuser. The guy who runs a 1AM gun delivery service. Annoying white kid from Duke.
  3. Today's Free Press trolling Chas; On Saturday, I asked Toledo manager Gabe Alvarez who could move up and help the Tigers? He answered without pause: Gage Workman, a versatile infielder who is hitting .375 with a 1.090 OPS. “Gage Workman's playing really well, really swinging the bat,” Alvarez said in Toledo. “He's a great baserunner. He can steal a base for you. He's a plus defender at multiple positions - short, third or second.” Speaking of Workman, consider the talent the Tigers found in the 2020 MLB Draft. First round: Spencer Torkelson. Second round: Dingler. Fourth round: Workman. Fifth round: Colt Keith. Not a bad draft ... for former Tigers GM Al Avila..
  4. Does MAGA even care if the nominees get confirmed by the Senate? Hes got several 'acting' cabinet officials currently and had dozens and dozens of them in Trump1.
  5. WHY HAVEN'T WE CALLED HIM UP YET!??!?!?!?!??!
  6. I certainly do no wish the worst for Meadows...he is a quality ballplayer and, from what I hear, an even better person. But, I like what his absence has opened for this Tigers team. McGonigle can stick at SS...Keith can stick at 3B...DH can still rotate as needed. I really like the IF stability for your young hitters. CF now flexes more rather than the infield. Baez and Vierling and Perez as mix-and-match options in CF are fine options (even if they aren't as good defensively as Meadows). That said, I'm still wishing Meadows a very quick recovery.
  7. it's not a criticism of Jackie but a reminder of why we know of him beyond being a great player. When we say he broke the color barrier what we mean is he was picked by racists as acceptable in an attempt to make it look like they were righting their wrong. To me it's like someone writing a check to charity for domestic violence support after being discovered as an abuser.
  8. Particularly in a country that has a Confederate History month in the month those traitorous losers lost the civil war.
  9. They should have an Andy Messersmith day? All the things you say are true. He is a reflection on the bigotry. But there still had to be that one guy who broke that barrier. Hank Aaron had to face death threats for breaking the Babe's record. Willie Horton had to try to mollify a mob in his uniform. America has and will suck regarding race relations. Plenty of evidence about. Be it woke virtue signaling or actual bravery in the face of ignorance...I'm giving him the nod.
  10. El-Sayed was just on Fox News, but sure, going on Bill Maher that one time is the issue.
  11. Besides, everyone knows the way to curry favor with MAGA is to create an award to give to trump. Voting for somoene hes going to throw under the bus within a year.... isnt.
  12. I have to do my taxes tonight. I have my thoughts on Jackie Robinson day. It's great we honor him and what he had to go through and he deserves all of it. But I've always felt that the way MLB frames this is an attempt to absolve them of the reason we need a Jackie Robinson Day. There's one reason we have this day and it's because MLB was run by a bunch of racists who didn't want blacks in baseball. Jackie didn't break the color barrier because "finally we had a qualified back person that could play". He broke it because of the courage of some to decide it was time. Still others didn't believe that and orgs like Boston and Detroit held out even further.
  13. Banking on goodwill capital with maga is foolish. I prefer senators who arent foolish
  14. Today
  15. I think I would be annoyed to have to work for any of these people. I once interned for a GOP rep and the guy was getting free labor from me but insisted I use his title when talking to him. While that seemed pretty innocuous to me at the time, it really bothered me when i saw how he treated others. Now Slotkin seems like she'd be a bit more difficult than others to work for, just a feeling. Daughter from a wealthy family and all that. That said, they are ham sandwich and I'm voting for that over any GOP person until Trumpism and MAGA is no more.
  16. lamelo ball has to be one of the more unlikeable players in the league. 2-16 from 3? intentionally hurts the other team's best player? totally selfish and stupid player. immensely physically talented but just a **** and a dumbass.
  17. I hope the boys all got their taxes done and don't have to rush to finish up before gametime.
  18. Once again with feeling: prospect ratings have very little correlation with results on the ice. wheeler and pronman are great, but their ratings have much more to do with draft position than anything else. and if you are to take them seriously, all they show about the wings is that they have a lot of players projected to be 3rd liners and second pair defensemen, and no stars. nate danielson and marco kasper were both top ten picks. both dropped like a stone in those rankings once they got on the ice against men. asp now too. most of us really overrate red wings prospects. me included.
  19. It's not unique to the Times, but the tendency of American outlets to frame Trump attacking the Pope as a "feud" is a way to "both sides" a conflict that really has only one side to it. Which comes across as bringing Leo down to Trump's level (he's not) and making the conflict seem like it's mutual (it isn't)
  20. I read that book for a book report in grade school. I don't think the teacher was happy that I chose it. But she audibly laughed when I read aloud Sparky's entry about clinching the division. He got cut by a bottle of champagne and remarked how the mixture of blood and bubbly looked good on his jersey.
  21. I care less about my senator's vote for a cabinet official who would have won anyway and I care more about my senator's appeal in the rest of our state that outside of a few metro areas, can be as red as Alabama and if that vote makes it more likely they'll get some votes they otherwise wouldn't get, then fine. What Obama did in 2008 is ancient history. The world and landscape is different now and he's not running. Al-Sayed is not Obama.
