  1. Past hour
  2. If Duren looks out of sorts at any point in the first quarter I want Reed in the game. I know Duren is supposed to give you better defense and more rebounding ability. But so far in this series, and for most of the Orlando series, Duren hasn't given us anything off the glass and only limited defense and shot blocking. He's had what, 2 rebounds in the last 60 minutes of play or something crazy. Even if Reed doesn't give you the defense you'd want, with the way Duren's playing right now, he can't be any bigger of a liability. In-fact, I feel like he is more of a net positive because he is producing points.
  3. I had to listen to Saturday's fourth quarter on the radio in the car making my way to our niece's grad party. Listening to Mahorn go ballistic about everything was pretty entertaining in a way. I forgot how much a potential deep run with the Pistons can be impacted by the spring graduations and my own work. Now, I have to mix in the changing TV venues on top of that. I'm going to have issues with game #6 as well for parts of it. Probably will be listening to a lot of it on the radio as well.
  4. i think the russians value upsetting the us more than any relationship with iran. the russians will turn on anyone. china is more likely.
  5. LOL - China would be odd-bedfellows. The Russians may value Iran too much to go there.
  6. I'd start Duren, but I'd have an itchy trigger finger with him. He's got to show something.
  7. FWIW I saw somewhere that Mize might not go to rehab because it was a short DL, but I still kinda doubt it.
  8. Of course - you know he's still obsessed with a Nobel right? He'd throw almost anything under the bus if XI gives him a way to settle Iran that makes him look good.
  9. Get ready. Numbers out showing wholesale prices up 6%. This is what happens when a criminal operation is put in the White House led by a lifelong conman that’s built an empire on fraud. “Starting on Day One, we will end inflation and make America affordable again, to bring the prices down on all goods.” - 8/9/24 at Bozeman, MT rally “Starting the day I take the oath of office, I will rapidly drive prices down and we will make America affordable again.” “We’re going to get your energy prices down. We’re going to get your energy prices down by 50%.” - both at an 8/17/24 Wilkes-Barre, PA rally. “Energy is going to bring us back up. That means we’re going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon, bring down the price of everything from electricity rates to groceries, airfares, and housing costs.” - 9/5/24 Economic Club of New York Of course, I could go the same with the Epstein files, but instead this Administration chooses a criminal cover-up in a situation where Trump’s name is mentioned at this point 38,000 times. This is what happens when you elect a person who has been a con man his entire life.
  10. 0% chance Hinch goes anywhere.
  11. the thought leaders for the democrats have all turned against israel. israel's cozying up to trump is a big driver in that. that will eventually burn israel as they have now alienated their biggest historical supporter (american democrats) and will alienate their current american supporter (trump) because trump will turn on them after this iran business humiliates us. they'll blame israel. and then they'll REALLY have no one. because lord knows Europe wont support them (nobody loves a good pogrom like spain and germany). they'll turn to russia at that point. or china.
  12. You expect a little drop off in the offense for a rim running big like Duren in the playoffs...but he's not doing ANYTHING. He's working on defense, but the rebounding and interior scoring have dried up completely. Now he's pressing...thinking too much and looks completely out of synch. I'm also not 100% convinced he's recovered from his knee issue at the ASB. He is costing himself a ton of money....that great chemistry with Cade has all but disappeared. I've gone from assuming Cade would force them into resigning him to wondering if Cade would be open to letting him walk. Mara won't be there when we pick...but Morez Johnson might be. He has that 7ft plus wingspan.
  13. I think you are underestimating what is occurring in the democratic party. the same people who tell you that the republicans have been captured by maga - which is very true - are telling you the democrats will never be captured by anti-israeli sentiment? i hope youre right, but all the signs point the other way. the strongest supporter of israel is fetterman, and the democrats are ready to kick him out of the party. josh shapiro has basically been ruled out for a presidential run because of it. i think that the democrats are currently "the sensible party" who believe in government institutions and maintaining the status quo. i also think their activist class does not want that. and the rising tide of voters dont want it either. and anti-israel sentiment is part of that. i dont understand how anyone can pay attention to politics and not see the democrats moving away from israel. hopefully the next israeli election changes that, and we can get back to supporting our democratic ally in the middle east. and hopefully the next american presidential election changes who is in charge here. i have my doubts on both of those happening.
  14. I'm embarrassed to say that it's literally been over a decade since the last game I was able to attend in person. Where is the best place to park these days? What kind of cost should I be budgeting for parking? "Back In My Day", I used to park in an underground lot below Grand Circus Park that was steps from the park and it only cost $5. Is that lot still around? I imagine the days of it costing $5 are long gone?
  15. Today
  16. No, I regard them similarly to how I regard Max Clark. I am still very hopeful and will be excited to see them when they are back.
  17. I agree. Cleveland is in first place because they have a consistently performing superstar, a solid bullpen and good defense and we do not. Our strength is based on depth and starting pitching which the injuries have decimated. What is worrisome is some of our depth is starting to look shaky.
  18. Surprisingly, that is true about the pitching, but I was expecting them to improve significantly with Valdez and a full year of Melton. I am not disappointed with the hitting. I was not expecting it to be a strength and it's pretty much what I thought it would be. Their fielding has been a disaster and I think the impact of injuries to Meadows and Baez have been understated.
  19. I don't think Hinch can do anything about having poor players. Hinch is about as good managing a pitching staff as I've seen and that is 90% of a manager's job. Yeah - I think his motivational talent is maybe marginal but I don't think that is all it's cracked up to be in baseball and we don't seem to have clubhouse issues. I haven't seen figures for this year but I still feel like the Tigers take too many strike ones, but I'll live with the two latter nits for the sake of the former.
  20. So, you're not counting on them to ever contribute to the Tigers ever again, but also, you're not counting them out for their entire careers? In other words, out of sight, out of mind? is that fair?
  21. Also a touch of bad luck: we are at 19-23, and pythag says we should be 21-21.
  22. Bultman says Cossa will no longer be waiver exempt next season.
  23. I didn't know anything about Olson that anyone else didn't know. I have just come to the conclusuion that pitchers with long-term injuries can not be counted on. I am not assuming that Olson and Jobe are done for their careers. I just am not counting on them. I am hopeful that Olson will some day return to form. And really, Jobe has never proven anything at the MLB level. He is still a good prospect.
  24. Pitching and hitting stats roughly the same as last year. Defense went from average to abysmal. Base running went from ok to meh.
  25. I have Stathead and FanGraphs subscriptions and that is it. FanGraphs also is mostly unusable now without a subscription. Pretty much any major news or sports site is really hard to use now without a subscription. This was inevitable, but I miss the old internet. I don't subscribe to read opinions and propaganda which is what news has become
  26. I think a lot of people thought all winter that we would get something out of Olson this year. I was myself hoping to. You probably knew something we didn't, but It wasn't until February when he went under the knife and was declared out for the year. I also think some people expected (still expect) something out of Jobe, but again, even if he does come back in August, he won't be going full bore until next spring. If you don't bake players into your projections because of injuries sustained during previous years, does that mean you regard Olson and Jobe as being done done for their careers?
  27. Just as true now as in 1963
