  1. I think it’s interesting that criticizing the play calling (which he took over), the time management, in game decisions, wearing a fucking helmet to a press conference, and all else is characterized as starting a riot. The dude is making mistakes left and right. I don’t care if the Lions win or lose. I would like to avoid losing 16 games again just because of the stink of it though. I think there are a lot of moderate arguments that are being mischaracterized here, which isn’t really a surprise when so often people are trying to win these conversations rather than just have a conversation. Dan Campbell has been objectively bad at being a head coach. I hope he stops making bad decisions. I don’t see the value in ignoring the bad decisions because the team is bad. I do understand ignoring the results.

  2. Seems ironic you invoke a guy with maybe the best plate discipline on the team to describe swinging wildly at pitches out of the zone. Robbie's career o-swing is better than Mike Trout's.

  3. And over and over again when in a court of law, the “allegations” of fraud turned out to be baseless. Over and over again the loud talk outside the courtroom got weaker and quieter inside, with timid admissions that no, they had nothing in terms of evidence of fraud. If it had ended there, it would have been bad enough, but instead the majority of the Republicans still continue to lie about voting fraud. None of them have shred of honor. They are thoroughly dishonest people and should be scorned and shown the door at the next election. That shows they do not believe in the rule of law. Instead people like Archie parrot the lies and will keep them in office. No shame. None.

  5. HaHa. So according to the Nature article the variant was going to be NU - as in the 13th letter of the Greek Alphabet but it's already been relabeled in this story as Omicon, skipping the Greek letters NU and XI. I guess 'NU virus or Xi virus were going to be politically unacceptable! I can understand 'NU/New' virus was going to be too messy to deal with, but I bet Trump would have jumped at the chance to call it "Xi".

  6. If losing this game saves Nagy’s job then I think it may have been a sacrifice worth making.

  7. I like Dan Campbell the dude. Seems like a genuinely great guy that you'd want to coach your high school kid, and I really wanted him to succeed as Lions HC. But after 10 games, he seems completely overmatched. Talent deficit aside, this team -- coaches included -- makes way too many unforced errors and looks utterly unprepared in pressure situations. That's on the coaching staff. If they fired him this off season, I'd have no problem with it, but if they don't, his seat should be among the hotter ones in the league next season.

  8. Maybe re-read these threads where things like “let’s see what he does with a better roster” or “what do you expect him to do with a bad team” are uttered. I don’t care how bad the team is, making bad decisions on a weekly basis is not ok.

  9. That wasn't the point of the vaccines. It was to avoid hospitalization and death.

  10. All of this is true. It is also true that Campbell has no fucking clue when it comes to clock management, end of game strategy, and pretty much everything else a coach has to decide real time between the lines. He has not been good at all and his decisions certainly played a big part in them losing a few games at the end. I’m not sure why so many here just don’t seem to care that he’s terrible in this incredibly important part of being a good head coach. I’m not suggesting he be fired and I haven’t given up on him but he hasn’t been very good at his job this season.

  11. Could also be talking him up for a future trade as well, especially if they do land a big fish.

  12. I know Baez is alot of people's 5th choice and who knows how serious these supposed contract talks were but it's nice to still hear rumors of us discussing things with one of the top 5 guys.

  13. This is like being promised to go out for ice cream and dad instead comes back from the IGA with monkey puke yellow Sealtest ice milk. I really liked the idea of a fancy, good hitting slick SS.

  14. https://www.detroitlions.com/news/four-downs-offense-struggles-in-loss-to-eagles-goff-swift-campbell "I freaking hate what I did before halftime," Campbell said after the game. "I hate it. I don't hate going for it, but I should have used a timeout going into the 3rd and 1. That didn't help, either. Look, I got outcoached, man. I got outcoached. I didn't help these guys."

  15. Looking at reviews for electric snow blowers. It is truly unbelievable how many people rate it before they even tried using it on snow and admit it in the reviews. Thanks for making the aggregate scores useless you jabronies.

  16. I am willing to stipulate that the 6 holding calls hurt the Lions a lot more than any clock issues. When a team gets a lot of penalties, I think most fall under two causes: 1) they are physically over matched 2) the team has poor execution discipline and obviously both can be true. Now given that the lions have a lot of bad players, we can chalk up a hold on Kraemer to number one, but not so much a hold on Decker.

  17. Dan Campbell is one of the best at using timeouts (as of week 9) but lets not have that get in the way of a good fan rant. https://operations.nfl.com/gameday/analytics/stats-articles/how-do-nfl-coaches-use-their-timeouts/

  18. I mean, does much matter at the moment? I'm amazed at how much passion there is in this debate over Dan Campbell given how low stakes it is in the grand scheme of things. This is a historically bad football team... it's not a huge shock to me that they are struggling to win games. The previous regime left a flaming dumpster fire behind... different sport, but reminds me a lot of the flaming dumpster fire Randy Smith left behind pre 43-119 for the Tigers. Maybe Dan Campbell is a failure in the long run. Either way, canning him and bringing someone else in right this moment does not fix this. It just doesn't. The only thing that even begins to fix this is fixing the personnel

  19. I had low expectations to start that year and that was before all the injuries. I liked the hire. I liked some of the things I saw early in the season. I want Dan Campbell to be good. Unfortunately all I’m seeing right now is the second coming of Rod Marinelli.

  21. I agree that if Trump won, Democrats would have had similar concerns and there would have been lawsuits while the Republicans would have been just fine with it. The difference is Trump didn't just express concerns and file lawsuits. He flat out said that the election was stolen and pushed baseless conspiracy theories as supposed proof. His lack of respect for our country and democracy is unforgivable.

  22. That's the first time I've heard that one of the 2 main goals of vaccination was to stop masking immediately. I don't know of anywhere in the world that allowed vaccinated people to stop wearing masks.

  23. Some people in here are getting too emotionally invested in this team. If the four game deciding field goals had gone their way and they were 4-7, would you feel better? Less than 10 players on this 53-man are likely to be on this team in three years. If Campbell sucks when it matters, he will not remain here. For now though, put a cardboard cutout of Hue Jackson out there to coach this team for all I care. Relax.

  24. No, because most of those people support the death penalty in spite of the fact that innocent people have been put to death over the years. Additionally, many pro life activists on the right are the first people to scream and holler about people mooching off the welfare system. They are some of the most vocal critics of programs like WIC, SNAP, TANF (AFDC), and Medicaid that help keep people subsisting and living. Many in the pro life movement also believe that gay, lesbian, transgendered, and non-binary people are condemned to a life of sin that will ultimately lead them to going to hell. They view LGBTQIA people as less than in some cases, looking at them as not only immoral sinners, but almost animalistic creatures. Meanwhile, they have no problem donating billions of dollars and making a cottage industry of the very God they claim to support while millions go hungry or without adequate medical care. They do this by giving their money to and propping up grifters like Benny Hinn, Creflo Dollar, Jim and Tammy Faye Baker, Jimmy Swaggert, Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, Kenneth Copeland, and their mega churches. None of that sounds very pro life to me.
