My recent pissy post and my testy text arguments with other fans has proven to me that this ^#^&%* team has gotten way too far under my skin. I love what Fetters has done to make a great BP, Greene has been a sparkplug of sorts, and I am amazed that they have played near .500 ball since the dismal 9-23 start, despite losing their entire starting rotation, and despite the continued failure of half of their lineup. Regardless, this is just not a fun team to watch, other than Greene, and hes barely OPSing 700. Moreover, Chris is "very happy" with this team, seemingly no matter whether they succeed or suck. I am convinced that this team will not achieve anything better than mediocrity for the foreseeable future, as a result of the owners personal myopic focus on "safe" low risk profits. The last straw will be if they take the option on Cabrera. Keeping him around for that kind of money in 2023 would be a stupid PR move with zero upside on the field. A smart GM could do a lot with $30 million. But Alas we don't have a smart GM, nor a wins-oriented owner to help drive the GM to build the roster for success on the field.3 points

remember when they did this over the phone on a league wide conference call? they'd get the whole thing done in a day or two, iirc. all 40 rounds or however many they had back then.2 points

i knew james mccann was special, but living until 3035? the dude really is a machine.2 points

That was a good trade and great initial contract. The length of the extension was very questionable, but it has ultimately worked out. He’s not blocking anyone and has given the fans some very memorable moments and distraction from the on-field product the last two seasons. Personally, I’m glad he’s retiring a Tiger—would not have wanted to see him elsewhere.2 points

Today was a good day for a long hike in the remote wilderness of New Hampshire.2 points

I think most of what he does "makes sense". He correctly identifies weaknesses and tries to fix them with trades and free agents. He just hasn't been good at it! He lacks innovation and perhaps negotiation skills.2 points

As bad as this is, can you just imagine how bad it would be if the rebuild wasn’t complete 🙄2 points

I should have trademarked it. Probably my only positive contribution at the old board.1 point

Orioles make a bold move drafting a 14-year old SS in Jackson Holliday. Signability pick?1 point

I DO have a recipe... that I believe would be appropriate... It's for a Russian Quaalude: One shot of Stoli's Vodka, one shot of Kahlua, one shot of Bailey's Irish Cream, one shot of Frangelico hazelnut liqueur. Shaken over ice, and poured into (4) shot glasses. A "White Russian on steroids" shot.1 point

Good grief, we’re all going to be bitching and moaning at each other for a long, long time.1 point

Hopefully time away from Coolbaugh will help Tork get things straightened out. He has the complete opposite of the Midas touch when it comes to working with hitters and their approaches. Guys just perform worse the longer they are around him.1 point

I was just teasing you in good fun. Besides, if Hinch were around, it would be wine and not water that I would be walking through.1 point

They're going to sign a giant squid to play first base. (Note to @buddha: I don't really believe this. I am just being sarcasticalistic.)1 point

The 2022 Detroit Tigers Highlight video needed a title…well done!1 point

Why don’t they start Harold Castro as the opener?1 point

If they somehow get Klingberg I wonder if they move Hronek, he is basically the wish.com version of Klingberg.1 point

Are we simply seeing the flip side of luck from what we saw last season? There has been a lot of bad luck with injuries, but I think that's more on the pitching side. Meadows has been the flukiest of all and it has impaired the offense. But this awful season from the sticks isn't solely due to Meadows, and its got to be time to make some sort of changes (including demoting Torkelson to work on his game).1 point

Yeah, I remained skeptical of AAs skills, but the Meadows trade seemed to be the indication that this FO was serious and capable enough of putting an interesting and winning product on the field, esp with AJ and Fetters' added value. Heaven knows I don't like Avila at all, but I think he has been a victim of some extremely bad luck this year.1 point

I don't think there are two distinct sides of the board in regards to Hinch. And I don't think anyone considers him Hitler.1 point

I was going to say that the Tigers had better pitching, but they are about the same this year. I didn't realize how poor the Angels offense was this year. On the other hand, Trout and Ohtani are a lot more entertaining than anything the Tigers have.1 point

But Clemens had to be sent to Toledo as there is no role for him.1 point

I’d like to see more Grossman and Barnhardt in the lineup.1 point

I can’t see that the Tigers have anyone at all in the futures game. So we have no future. The future is usually that which will be, which is predictable, foreseeable. But the French have a second word for the future, L’avenir (to come), which refers to something whose arrival is totally unexpected and unpredictable. It’s a future that is, if not more pleasant, at least more interesting. But we’re not French, so we’re screwed.1 point

If the Tigers can carry todays momentum into tomorrows game they still have a really good chance of stealing last place in the division from KC before the AS break.1 point

I just turned on the game and turned it right back off.1 point

is there a point to summer league now? no one of consequence is playing anymore. seems like the teams have decided to get their rookies properly prepared for the regular season by sitting them in 1/3 of the games...just like in the regular season. load managment.1 point

Speaking of the Castros I saw somebody post this mindblowing stat that would have gotten you killer odds before the season started and that is that Harold Castro has made more pitching appearances for the Tigers this season than Manning and Mize combined.0 points
