This is about as random as it gets! We were in Chicago over the weekend to visit my daughter at college. Here college gave us free tickets to the Cubs game yesterday. So we go and the seats are in 405L, nose bleeds way up in the LF corner. It's a windy day and everyone is bundled up and covered with blankets. A guy comes over to our row and asked if anyone is sitting here and I said no. He then ask us where we were from and chatted for awhile. People started looking at him and pointing then finally asked for a selfies and to shake his hand. Long story short it was Tom Ricketts Chairman of the Cubs! He asked my daughter what she was going to school for and they talked about her boyfriend who is attending Detroit Mercy Law school. He gave her a phone number to call and said they could pick a game next year to sit in the owners suite! What a great guy and I could never seeing an Illitch doing something like that.2 points

until they can make the other team punt, every game has loss written all over it.2 points

He just posted it, didn't even comment let alone gloat. It needs to be pointed out that getting the vaccine is beneficial, especially if you're older and therefore at a greater risk of this virus. Note, this is coming from the husband of a women that is still dealing with hypersensitivity to getting the Covid booster and flu shot at the same time last year. She just got done with another round of testing and she is officially #X (can't remember the exact number and if it was specific to Moderna or Covid booster as a whole, but it was something around number 20) that is dealing with long term issues related to this vaccine. The odds you or anyone you know would deal with her issue are closer to the odds of winning the lotto, but if you have anyone with any auto-immune issues already, I would suggest spacing out boosters and the flu vaccines.1 point

The new one that's driving me nuts is the "How'd you like to be in an electric car trying to get out of Florida right now?" How about a nice, fresh cup of STFU?1 point

I understand where you're coming from but I don't think the differences between the two in terms of hitting come down to batting average or luck. Greene has been consistently decent. Tork has been completely awful in every phase of hitting for all but a 3-week stretch this year. Luck plays some part but Tork has completely sucked outside of that hot stretch.1 point

I was convinced the woman in the flag bandana talking about the kids in school was going to tell the group how affordable it is to enroll in Colonial Penn life insurance.1 point

We all know that the first time the defense holds an opponent to 17 pts the lions will score 16 or less. This franchise may never figure it out. They keep trying and nothing ever works.1 point

For the same reason nobody talks about Robb Deer and the 1992 Detroit Tigers1 point

Are you new here? This has been happening with regularity. 😆1 point

Greene has a 99 wRC+ and a 0.9 WAR. Torkelson has a 69 wRC+ and a -1.2 WAR. Those are big differences.1 point

Other than batting average Tork and Riley Greene's stats are eerily similar, but no one is screaming about Greene being a disappointment. Greene has a BABIP of .355, Tork .250.1 point

Just what we needed: Midnight baseball in the final week of the season. Imagine if we were in a playoff chase?1 point

their personnel isnt good, but they were outcoached. seattle ran perfect plays against the lions over and over again. the lions blitz, and seattle runs a perfect run play. over and over. glenn got abused. yes the lions arr still talent deficient, but seattle's offense is one of the worst in the league. they scored more points today than they have in their three previous games combined. it was embarassing. an organizational embarassment.1 point

not really. michigan's linebackers sucked. when hutch played at michigan he was going up against big ten left tackles, not nfl left tackles. the seahawks outsmarted the lions on defense. they made great play calls and made glenn look stupid all day.1 point

The Mariners promoted their assistant GM to GM today. That tells me the Giants or Tigers were trying to get him for their vacant GM spot.1 point

It's ok to give Tork more time. His defense seems pretty good there and lets give the org an off season to look at things and hopefully give him some valuable instruction and feedback.1 point

I don’t know that I’d call it rolling the dice. The kid is 23 years old and only 2 years removed from college and the draft. It’s been bad, but this isn’t an unheard of MLB rookie season.1 point

I thought the Ryan Day is a born-on-third-base bich stuff was just propaganda. But, man...they are just classless and soft as baby poop. I hope we beat them in the Shoe. They need to be brought down a couple pegs.1 point

I would not have guessed this. I would have thought this score had surely happened before.1 point

That Rutgers kick returner is my player of the week for decking the OSU guy out of bounds. A fake punt up by 39, you deserve to get slammed to the ground.1 point

all you guys are hardcore baseball fans (some might say....baseball nerds). most casual fans know who cabrera is but probably dont know he sucks now and would pay attention to him - as much as they would ever pay attention to baseball. in other words, you all are outliers. i imagine the tigers want the marketing opportunities for miggy's "last dance". try to make back some of that $40 million they have to pay him next year.1 point
-
When he comes to bat with two men on the crowd still gets loud. For us, he's done, for the average fan, he's still a hero.1 point
-
He may have nothing left to offer on the field, but Miggy is a revenue generator based on his name, and it is not time for the Tigers to move on from that.1 point

I think your need to look down on and go after people who have had their lives destroyed as if they did something wrong is just a bit rude and tone deaf. Not every house in a beach area is an oceanfront mansions. Many are trailers and manufactured homes that do not require one to be wealthy to live in. I don't get that mentality. Blame the victim. Call them names. Nice. Why aren't you down there price gouging bottled water?1 point
