yes and everyone was going to sue them. Conservatives were going to sue a private business because that private business didn't want to do business with another private business. Something about free speech which is odd because no governments got involved in restricting anyone's speech. It's almost like conservatives were full of shit.2 points

When I watch Duren and Stew get dragged away from the paint on defense every play because opponents figure out they can get whatever mismatch they want all night, it doesn't make me feel good about their development. I want to see Duren in the paint, learning to box out big men and swat shots. Hard to do in a soft switching scheme when your big men are constantly on the perimeter. The same could be said in reverse for the guards having to guard out of position and stop Velanciunas from getting rebounds rather than being able to hit the gas in transition after the big man secures the board. Being able to switch is one thing, but doing it 100% of the time before the screen even arrives is a terrible system that puts every player at a constant disadvantage. That's not playing to your strengths and maximizing your team's potential, and when you're playing to your weaknesses and constantly putting your players at a disadvantage it affects both confidence and development. Same can be said on the offensive side of the ball. The lineups and offensive schemes aren't designed to play the strengths of the players we have. Running DHOs that don't shift the defense doesn't work and it forces guys to play hero ball, but we don't have a team built around one-on-one heroic players. We should be running action to get guys open with more movement and more off ball screens/cuts to free us up from defenses that overplay with tight perimeter coverage. This stagnant offense is forcing them into bad plays, bad habits, and ultimately impacting both confidence and development. Killian's confidence issues and their affect on his development are a well known fact at this point. I don't think Cade has been put in a position to succeed at all. He's just good enough that he still put up numbers regardless. Bey is a fan favorite, but look at his efficiency and some of the things he was asked to do last year to try to salvage plays rather than playing the game the right way and playing to his strength. These kids are being forced to play a lot of Casey Hero Ball rather than learning to play the game "the right way", move the ball, find open cutters, and so on. Bottom line, I feel that when you're putting your players at a disadvantage on both ends of the court rather than playing to their strengths, you're negatively impacting their development. Obviously this isn't quantitative, because we have no way of knowing how they would develop under LB or Carlisle or whomever. But I just don't see how being trained wrong and constantly put at a disadvantage can help your confidence or development. These players are developing despite Casey's on court strategy (and I'm sure partially because he's good off the court), not because of it.2 points

Of course I picked the 65 number as relevant to our Tigers. If we signed Correa we would be a ~$100M payroll(last time I checked), 66 win team paying top dollar for marginal wins, would we not? Now I suppose if Harris does a Svengali act and somehow has the roster rebuilt into an 85 win team and then signs Correa, that's a scenario. But then you have to ask, if he got the roster from 65 to 85 wins without paying $9M/win, can he get it to 90 wins at the same lower marginal cost per win? 🤔 (and of course, to be clear, given that we don't care about Ilitch's money, but just considering the logic of the hypothetical)1 point

Thanks, this is why Alex Jokes is getting hammered. The misinformation era we are living through is remarkable.1 point

You know what? That went right over my head..............how did I miss that? Well played, sir. I apologize unreservedly. I deeply regret any distress that my actions may have caused you or your family and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such behavior at any time in the future.1 point

I want to prioritize fixing SS and the lineup. Correa is still young, won’t cost us draft capital and is looking for another team (presumably). Good walk rate and power. I don’t think the other free agent SS will ultimately switch teams (Swanson, Boegarts, Turner). Would be open to all of them, too.1 point

It's scary movie month. You can take Freddie Kreuger, Leatherface, Chucky, Jason Voorheesm Pennywise - all of them and put them all behind Piper Laurie as Margaret White in "Carrie". Some say Carry is the scary one. She is not. She is a sympathetic character. It's Carrie's mom who is FAR scarier. And all apologies to other actresses who have played the part, but none come close to Piper Laurie's take on it. There is this inner rage in every frame she's in and the character so desperately tries to hide it, but it's there the whole time and it is scary as hell, especially when she smiles.1 point

I get annoyed at Al Michael's saying Uh-Oh when a player is laying on the ground with a head injury, so I am using it on Under The Radar Radio tonight. This is how Al sounds in the final mix Al Michaels on UTR.mp31 point

First of all, “Y’all”, what the fuck dog does Texas Woman have in Michigan’s Prop 3 fight, “Y’all”? Secondly, this kind of misdirection seems to be getting bolder and more on the nose. Illinois has an Amendment 1 initiative on the ballot that would change the state’s constitution to, quote, state that employees have a right to "organize and bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing for the purpose of negotiating wages, hours, and working conditions, and to protect their economic welfare and safety at work" and that would prohibit any law that "interferes with, negates, or diminishes the right of employees to organize and bargain collectively." Sound eminently reasonable, right? Even Republicans can’t argue that state employees should have no such right. So how do the Republicans get ordinary people of modest incomes to vote against it? By calling it a Trojan horse tax increase, saying “While Amendment 1 is being promoted as a workers’ rights initiative, in reality, it is a disguised tax referendum, a Trojan horse that, if passed, is projected to cost a typical family over $2,100 in additional property taxes within the next four years”, and that “This is a conservative estimate, assuming the rapid growth of Illinois’ property tax burden holds steady. It’s likely property taxes would grow at an even faster rate, because Amendment 1 would give Illinois government unions unprecedented bargaining powers that don’t exist in any other state." Of course they don’t say how it would give such unprecedented powers to unions that would lead to what those tax increases are, or what those powers are that will increase property taxes. They say only that it will increase property taxes, and as far as the how and the what are concerned, they will simply leave it up to your imagination.1 point

So my dad is a conservative Republican and I've mentioned that here before. We had lunch and watched part of the Michigan game together. We got to taking about the Georgia Senate debate. Even he told to me today that it's downright shameful that the Republican Party could trot Herschel Walker out there in the condition he is in and with his mental capacity. My dad said being a Senator requires a serious ability to think critically and decipher complex public policy.1 point

the nfl is weird. one day youre the best offense in football and the next day someone figures you out and youre back to the drawing board. the lions got figured out by the pats. they are also missing their best playmaker in the backfield and two of their best receivers. injuries play a role, especially with a rebuilding team like detroit. let's see how they adjust after the bye. i'm not optimistic, but they finished strong last year. i think they need to do so again or else you might start to lose the locker room.1 point
