breshard perriman, dj chark (so far), the brockers trade, the trinity benson trade. failures. the anzalone and raymond re-signings are questionable as well. failing to upgrade linebacker has hurt them. i would add that the "getting the whole gang back together" offseason strategy from a 3-13-1 team and expecting different results has not been successful so far either. especially on defense. but again, this all must be taken in full context. 1) they are still rebuilding and still dont have the biggest piece of all: a qb; 2) it doesnt make a lot of sense to bring in big time free agent players if you dont expect to contend; 3) they are devastated by injuries to multiple key players on offense and defense.2 points

Watching JV shutdown the Yankees the other night brought back memories to his first playoff start 16 years ago at Yankee Stadium. Seeing him and Zumaya dominate the a Yankees at Yankee stadium to give the Tigers their first playoff win in almost 20 years is one of my favorite Detroit sports moments. Just crazy to think he is still dominating them in the playoffs 16 years later, that kinda playoff longevity is almost unheard of. I can think of only Clemens in my lifetime that was a playoff ace over 16+ years.1 point

Matter of fact: my buddy and I were Ginger vs. Amber Lynn. I liked Ginger's sweetly pretty good looks and my buddy was into Amber's obvious curves. Ginger was like a tumble in the late summer hay in the barn where as Amber was like some gritty back alley on a rainy night in Tokyo where the stakes were life or death. Of course, Ginger's young lithe body was kept lean by copious amounts of cocaine so she was clearly not Mary Ann...1 point

What would happen here is: I'd care about it a lot less than the president of the United States being a traitor. Normal people don't care about Hunter Biden one way or the other. But if we can't lock people far more important than him, why should anyone go to jail? If Trump can steal classified info, and almost certainly share it with dangerous and crazy people, why should anyone care if hunter smokes crack? Why should anyone care about a simple robbery? If the law doesn't apply to the most important people, it shouldn't apply to anyone. You're looking at it backward.1 point

both things can be true: 1) the lions have signed free agents to be stop gaps in the rebuilding process; and 2) those signings have been failures.1 point

And I didn’t fully grasp it at the time myself. We have cousins that live nearby and they aways tell us we can stay with them. DC is great with so much free stuff. Our kids were small at the time so things were hectic. I almost want to go back by myself.1 point

He signed cast offs to one year deals. They were literally duds before they signed. They were filler while the team rebuilds.1 point

Close: technically, they won the rights to the land in court, then sold the land back to the US government for 150,000 1883 dollars. In practical terms, though, that’s tantamount to a direct settlement.1 point

Most of you who are not guitarists probably don't read the "hey guitar guys thread" but it's worth visiting for this fun fact:1 point

Its probably not an exercise of how to get to the threshold of 40. Its probably more of an exercise of how many does Harris see any actual value in.1 point

People in NYC are geometrically challenged, that building is clearly round.1 point

Also Clemons, Miguel Díaz, Harold Castro, Brendan Davis, Luis Garcia, plus those already listed. heck we could probably get done to a 30 man roster without missing anyone.1 point

a couple observations: 1) that game was fun! 2) were going to lose a lot of games.1 point

Duren definetly impressed me the most, physically and athletically he reminded me of a young Dwight Howard, just looked like a Greek God chiseled out of stone. Yeah as far as I can remember all his points came on putbacks with the exception of and one out of the post but still considering his age and experience level I still thought it was impressive.1 point

Oh sure, Mike was really hurting financially during those times. I have no idea how he survived.1 point

I reflect often on the fact that the man on the left (I assume that's Mike I) fired his GM in 2015, who then went on to win four straight years with three playoffs and a WS with BOS and has his PHI team in the playoffs in year 2 after a lost decade before his arrival. And the GM that the man on the left hired in 2015 (AA) went on to lose 6 out of 7 seasons (all of the losing seasons happened after Mike I died), with a 427-672 record and a .388 win-pct, with no playoff appearances (and I think Chas said that we've had a bottom 5% 6-year run in MLB history?). And after Mike I's death, AA traded away every good player on the team, including 2 no-doubt HoFers for basically nothing... .....as well as JD and other good players, also for basically nothing. And nobody here seems to want to project this team to be a winner for at least a couple of years, meaning that we could realistically commemorate the 10 year anniversary of DD's firing in 2025 about the time we are a winning/playoff team again? 10 years??? ....nobody can reasonably support a 10 year hiatus from competitiveness, not for any reason. I am not saying that if DD stayed that we would definitely have been a good team most of the time, but we could not possibly have done any worse than we have, and my guess is that we would have at least have been a decent team, maybe better, and we could have been just as profitable as we were as a horrible team.1 point
