Merck doesn't want you to know the real truth about Ivermectin.4 points

I think people just don't understand exponential math. This is especially true when they rack up credit card debt, which our country is terrible at, but when you talk about a disease that spreads exponentially, something like mask wearing that can reduce spread a small amount really compounds once you get several potential disease hosts down the line.3 points

I mean, everything you posted was wrong. It has been proven that transmission had been lower in areas with high mask usage, unvaccinated people are significantly more likely to die or get seriously ill from COVID, Ivermectin is an anti-parasite that hasn't been proven to make a difference against COVID and Tractor Supply had to put up warnings because so many people were buying the horse paste, and I'm guessing the paint and vegetable seeds had to do with the guidelines in Michigan about going to Home Depot in the beginning to slow the transmission.3 points

My views have changed greatly from this post. While the radical right in America wants to blame Jews for stealing all the gold, the Chinese feel very much the same way about Leprechauns. It’s one of the big reasons that St. Patrick’s Day is not celebrated in China and Colin Ferrell is no longer allowed in the country. Knowing this information, I believe the Chinese were trying to find a way to kill all the Leprechauns and that’s why they developed the virus in a lab in Wuhan. Unfortunately, as has been happening for centuries, humans continue to underestimate the amazing craftiness of the Leprechaun. The test subject the Chinese thought they caught was actually playing possum and ended up destroying the lab and in turn releasing the virus on the world. They should’ve followed the Ancient Chinese proverb. The more you fuck around with Leprechauns, the more you will find out.2 points

Your problem in all of this is that you take cautious statements and attribute them as someone stating a fact. Fauci never said it didn’t come from a lab and that it’s absurd to think that. You keep referencing it but have yet to produce a single item showing he ever said that.1 point
-
eh, he said, she said...Fauci is by far the public figure I have trusted the must throughout the pandemic (not that he has much competition). People change their mind when they learn things. They sometimes say different things according to the sophistication of the audience.1 point

Fauci had no problem selling the natural origins story days after knowing scientists had pointed out, what they thought at the time, was a likely lab origin. The similar finds in nature took awhile to come out, not days. I will admit things could have changed, but there is no public information that gives a reason why Fauci sits on a conference call where scientist identify how it makes sense it was of lab origin in Wuhan and then day's later he's pointing to The Lancet article which admonishes 'conspiracy theorists'. And if you want to take Fauci on his current word, he claims he was always open to both natural and lab origins, but again, that's not what he was saying publicly early on and for quite a while after. If that can be shown, that would be a good thing. But if the experts convince everyone not to look there, maybe it's never shown. I guess we can hope if it was lab leak, internally they decide to do something different in the future. There certainly is an argument I'd be willing to accept where our virus research experts would work to correct that better than government oversight could do.1 point

A wreck with a semi contains one 53' container of toxic something. You might have 40 of those on one single derailment. I would think the that single would be much easier to contain.1 point

So Dr. Fauci and family deserve all those death threats because he MUST have some ulterior motive! Thank GOD this MENACE to good people is out ! But let’s not let him off the hook because 4 decades of work means nothing because he MUST be hiding all kinds of nefarious shit. He still has people gunning for him. Good lord.1 point

I would agree with this... Character Concerns connote something far different than not being a gym rat. That said, these "workout concerns" (for lack of a better term) might be even a bigger negative for Campbell than "character concerns." IF it's true that he's not a heavy workout, always trying to improve kinds guy that might be a big red flag for Dan.1 point

There are so many factors that it is tough to get a mathematical number on how effective things are. Good luck isolating variables, so that leads to bad faith actors twisting data how they want. Let's say you went out into public in 2020. Your chances of catching COVID were dependent upon... -Amount of people you came into contact with -How long you came into contact with those people -How close you were to those people -Whether those people were masked -Whether you were masked -Was it indoors or outdoors -What was the humidity/temperature indoors or outdoors -How strong is your immune system? -How was the ventilation? Good luck isolating all the variables you need, and that's only a fraction of them.1 point

Thats the sword that conspiracy theorists die on. The same government they decry as being incompetent and all that... are the same ones who can also arrange for these elaborate conspiracies covering many different organizations and thousands of people and keep them all in line.1 point

I don't know, gehringer_2...I felt A LOT better back when we could look forward to Mr I bringing Miggys, and V-Marts, and Prince Fielders to the roster each winter. Even with the Fielder disappointment, he served as evidence we were at least trying. Saving money while looking for the next Ronny Rodriguez IS NOT WHY I WATCH THE GAME.1 point

I forgot to add one: Vitamin D? HA!! No way! 🙂 Anyway, normally, no I don't go espousing my thoughts from the rooftops anymore but this is a situation where it is obvious that the lies originated from a money source. Insert the media, sponsored by Big Pharma, who promoted the lies/cover up and suckered over half the country. I'm not dismissing the disease, I'm just sneering in the general direction of the bony hands still clutching onto every last thread of fear which is obviously still prominent in this online community. Congratulations you guys...you were successfully conditioned.1 point

I'm not going to give a lab leak theory credibility based on what the likes of crazy people say. That's what you are missing in all of this. The motives. They didn't care about the why. They only cared about the who. These people were throwing shit at the wall and had no basis to make their claims. I have no skin in this game. I will not "win" or "lose" based on what eventually happened if we'll ever know because the idiots will still be the idiots even if they guessed right on this one. You can be correct for the wrong reasons when the outcome is one of two things. If an old wives tale says that you are more likely to have a boy if you have sex in a certain position.... well there's a 50% chance that happens. Doesn't mean it's because of what she said. I'll still think the person is crazy for thinking that.1 point

I contend you're either trying to continue the mockery as you refuse to believe you may have been wrong this entire time or you simply don't understand what believing something with low confidence means. They could have come out and said they don't know, they could have said low/medium/high confidence that it was natural. They claim they have intelligence which pushed them towards declaring it was likely a lab leak. Rather there is some other counter evidence they don't believe strongly enough but warrants not claiming medium/high or simply don't have enough evidence, again, they are leaning towards lab leak. Not long ago merely suggesting this put you on the same level as people that believed in Jewish space lasers. To note folks, you can still believe the Orange man is very bad AND that this virus came out of a lab that just happens to investigate/research the exact thing we're dealing with.1 point

Im sure I would be upset at the time but by the next day I would look back and be happy that they atleast won 1 playoff game. It was the same way for me with UM in 21/22, I was disappointed we got crushed in the semis but after the original disappointment I was happy to just be there and beat OSU. I imagine Id feel the same with the Lions except would be even more excited about just getting there.1 point

I was never part of that debate, but I never understood why it mattered how the virus originated in terms of managing the virus. Regardless of where it originated, you stll have to deal with it as best you can. Instead, we spent a couple years politicizing it.1 point

Honestly, I don’t want our home games to end at 9 pm while it’s still light out. I’m conditioned to watching games later. What am I going to do at 9:30? Read a frickin’ book?1 point

Winning a single playoff game would be awesome after 33 years. Of all the franchises that were around for the first Super Bowl, the Lions are the only one not to ever appear in a Super Bowl. I don't count the Browns because that Browns franchise became the Ravens, who have been to several.1 point

Didn’t the Tigers have 6:40 game times last year when average games were coming in over three hours? I know the Cubs and a lot of other clubs have had that for a few years. I selfishly love that game-time start and kind of wish they’d extend that throughout the summer. I think it’s as much about getting parents to bring the kids to games on schoolnights as it is getting the parents themselves home early. Even absent that, I would bet that most people are not going to be disappointed to be leaving the ballpark around 9:15 instead of around 9:45.1 point

I wonder how much his year last year was influenced by his hand injury as well. Overall, the 2022 team, built around a lot of undisciplined hitters (some of whom are now gone and replaced) accentuated some of his weaknesses, and because he was arguably the biggest name on the team outside of Miguel, he bore the brunt of the criticism. He wasn't my first choice in last years free agency period, but they are a better team with him than without him, even with his flaws... and the Tiger fans who hope he opts out are off-base imo, good shortstops are hard to find in this league1 point

As an innocent bystander, I'd be amused at the outrage when it came out that the waste was transported by truck and nobody was advised of the route. "I can't believe you drove that through my neighborhood!" "I was not advised that any of my constituents would be subjected to the risk of having this waste transported so close to their homes." I dealt with something similar on a project years ago....contaminated site (cyanide, heavy metals, the soil was bright blue in many areas) in the middle of a residential neighborhood with an elementary school, church, and walking path nearby. Full funding is secured to execute the cleanup in just 1-2 years and the public freaks out that we might drive it past their house to get it out of there....okay, well, there is literally one route available out of the site. You choose....want it to stay there or do you want it gone?1 point

This will sound arrogant, but in general, East Palestine has exposed a real lack of understanding on a number of subjects surrounding the derailment among the general public. Environmental policy among them. I dont blame people for that, not everyone is a civil engineer or works in the railroad or environmental spaces, but if someone's only attachment to the subject is to pin it all on Politician X or Politician Y, it's kinda pointless to engage... the problems here predate Politician X and Y and are more common than people realize1 point

According to this recent study, games costs have roughly doubled in real term since the '60s 'golden age'. That's actually less than I would have guessed. https://thehustle.co/americas-favorite-family-outings-are-increasingly-out-of-reach/1 point

Interesting point, but my guess is probably not. It's not like the play clock goes longer in basketball or football or players take longer to serve in Tennis when the game is on the line. The delays in baseball are actually tension breakers anyway aren't they? A guy steps back to do his gloves or a pitchers goes through the signs repeatedly. It's the pitch you anticipate, so I'm not sure that cutting out things that only break the progression to the pitch will lower the overal game tension or not.....1 point

The biggest tell for me as to Waters true import to the band is that, essentially, there are three albums under the Pink Floyd name that were more or less domineered by Waters or Gilmour: The Final Cut, Momentary Lapse of Reason and The Division Bell. The latter two are both flawed albums, but the music overall fine... Gilmour's guitar sounds great and you get to hear more of Wright's organ in Division Bell in particular. The former was utter trash and contained some of the most over the top, navel gazing lyrics you'll find. The last song (Two Suns in the Sunset) was about the literal nuclear holocaust, ffs. Just self-important tripe, most of that album. Maybe it's because I'm more an instrumentation guy than a lyrics guy, but I just don't see it with a lot of Waters' solo and solo-esque stuff1 point

My interest in sports has been waning for awhile now, mostly because of some of the awful people who are part of it and the over emphasis of legal gambling too. I still follow the local teams, but honestly, I hardly know any NHL players outside of Detroit anymore. I hate the NBA and college basketball because of all the prima donnas. Juwan Howard should have been fired. He threw a punch at someone as a Head Coach. So much for that higher standard, Michigan. College football is less appealing now, I mean I am a Michigan fan, but I really can't stand Jim Harbaugh, he's the biggest phony in sports since Rick Pitino (I know, they're all phonies). I will always follow baseball because it's like a religion, in a way, and it's what I have always done, but I found last year that in July when I discontinued my MLB TV subscription, I really didn't miss it that much. Having a horrible team was a big part of that. Maybe part of it this Decade of Suck in Detroit. I played along last year ($10 at a time), and I did really well (because it was only $10 at a time and my future was never at stake), I think the most I ever bet was $50 - on Tampa to beat KC in the Super Bowl, and I turned a $10 NFL playoff parlay into $160 thanks to the Cowboys and Packers choking), The $10 bets on the over 5.5 goals in NHL games was easy money. Probably won 6.5 out of every 10 times, but only $10 at a time. They wised up this season and you rarely see even a 6 these days. Too many NFL games are coming down to some very very shady officiating, officiating so bad that it lends credence to those who are saying it's all fixed. I stopped playing along this year. I was breaking even the first few weeks of the NFL season, but too many games came down to odd officiating that it just wasn't fun anymore. You have thousands and thousands of guys betting their mortgage and bill money on heavy bets. Something tragic is gonna happen and you can bet there is going to be a player scandal somewhere. Greed ruins everything. Always has, always will. And I am so burned out on the ads for betting. Every one of the people in those ads just sounds like the "degenerate gambler". They're worse than drug dealers.1 point

Political theater....those US Ecology facilities are among only a handful of landfills in the country permitted to accept TSCA-regulated (Toxic Substances Control Act) waste. They receive soil and groundwater waste from around the country, much of it as bad or worse than the waste coming from East Palestine; many of my own projects have sent waste there over the years, particularly once the one in Model City, NY stopped accepting material. Government officials in each of those states have permitted the US Ecology facilities and they are never specifically notified of waste received, as long as it is in compliance with their pre-established permit. Coming out now to say they weren't aware their jurisdictions were receiving waste is a bunch of BS and purely theater to be lapped up by the masses.1 point
