A year ago, if I would have told you a bullpen that included Jason Foley, Will Vest, Joe Jimenez (coming off the awful years he was coming off of), and Alex Lange would be the Tigers' best bullpen since 2006, would you have believed me? I can't emphasize enough how important it is to just assume all bullpens will be average and your w/l projections for any team will be better.2 points

So it does appear players playing in Detroit pay city taxes. Not only that, Detroit also has a jock tax and collects taxes from opposing players. The thought of Aaron Rodgers coming to Detroit and throwing three picks and having a huge tax bill makes me happy. https://www.deadlinedetroit.com/articles/16977/detroit_finds_a_way_to_collect_more_income_tax_from_pro_athletes_playing_in_the_city2 points

You will not get an argument from me about spending more on mental health.... having said that, I don't believe the United States is unique in having people within it's borders who have mental health issues. Our counterparts in Europe and Canada no doubt have people living within their borders who have mental health issues, yet on a per capita basis, they do not have the problems that we have with shooting incidents. Which brings us back to the overarching point.... I have seen a lot of politicians run for a variety of excuses over the years for why we have gun violence at the scale we have it in this country, or why we have mass shooting incidents in schools and public spaces at the scale we have it. They talk about building design and mental health and video games and any number of subjects. In this case, they are even engaging in identity politics over the individual shooter (see preceding post from Stan 2.0). But none of that matters.... if something is to be done *at scale* about the problem, we need to talk about the guns. And unfortunately, almost all Republican politicians have shut down any real discussion on that subject in this country.2 points

We do. we need to make it harder to get guns. I'm sorry it means that a "good" gun owner who is responsible and won't hurt anyone and will protect us if needed has to do more paperwork and perhaps wait a few more days. If I had to wait a few more days to participate in one of my hobbies but it meant it could prevent someone else from killing others, I would do it. Too many gun control opponents think the standard is "Unless we can prevent everything then we shouldn't try to prevent anything".2 points

I will adopt the Tigers bullpen. Not anyone like Cisnero, Lange, Whistler, or Shreve. I will adopt the entire physical home bullpen area of Comerica. This includes one of the last working landline phones still in existence as well as a Detroit Cop that sits there to make sure fans don’t heckle and get out of line.2 points

I ended up paying $20 to be able to watch the rest of the Griffins games this season through AHL TV, should be interesting. Mazur is one of the better Griffins so far I would say, skates well with the puck and has tried some creative passes. They have him on both special teams already, he drew a penalty on a GR penalty kill to even it up at 4 on 4. So far so good.1 point

The bolded parts is really all that need is required. I'm convinced they are just simply bad people who are miserable and want everyone else to be miserable and the way it turned political in 2020 because of Trump's followers being synced up with Evangelicals is disheartening because it's spread to no covid vaccines too. People are going to be hurt and die unnecessarily because they want to own the libs and sadly many children will pay that price because their parents believe in politics over science. Some people shouldn't be allowed to raise children.1 point

I was at LCA last night with some buddies and it was very confusing when they announced the game misconduct… I looked it up on Twitter and showed the clip to my row and the row behind us and we were dying laughing.1 point

It finally struck here. My wife was in Detroit last week for work and flew back here Saturday (major Spring Break travel day at DTW). Woke up Monday morning feeling like she had a cold coming on. Same with me this morning. It feels a bit like a chest cold. Home tests showed a light pink for me, more positive for her. E-visits on tap for both today. My pulmonary guy has already ordered drugs. Downside is a family visit scheduled for this weekend is off, along with a couple of events we had tickets for.1 point

Amazing how all the people who get bent out of shape when people point out the identity of a white male shooter and their political identity seem to have no problem scoring some points when the shooter comes from a cohort they hate. Really the identities don't matter.... it comes down to the access to guns.1 point

Likewise, If Ukrainians are afraid of mass murder and the dislocation of families and having their children stolen and raised in Russian orphanages they can flee from Ukraine and say goodbye to the notion of a Ukrainian nation. And if western assholes who have been heavily invested in by Russian politicians are afraid of being exposed by the Russians, they can flee to Russia where they will be welcomed with open arms and even made minister of sport or whatever fig leaf job they have left after they reward Steven Segal, Donald Trump, Matt Gaetz, MTG and Kevin McCarthey.1 point

I guess I'm so totally burned out by those years locked into mediocrity by a not quite fit for his position O-lineman in the form of Dom-yeah-undersized-but wasn't-he-a-great-signal-caller-Riaola, that I don't want to see them risk getting anywhere near that possibility ever again.1 point

Stop quoting the latest incarnation of Stan. You only bring his ignored posts to light. Again, back to vaccines. Do your part and vaccinate yourself against that and don't spread it to others.1 point

Just think............48 hours from now we'll be watching Matt Vierling make an instant impact with 3 hits, including a Home Run and E-Rod, Jason Foley, Mason Englert and Alex Lange combine to 6-hit the Rays in a 5-2 Tigers Opening Day victory !1 point

Nate Silver mentioned months ago about these polls and the binary aspect being misleading. Someone might say they are not a fan of Biden as a preferred choice, and answer the poll/quesiton that way, but they damn well will vote for him if on the ballot regardless of who's on the other side.1 point

I think Biden is doing great, and assuming he still is by next November, I'll be happy to root for him to win again.1 point

They didn't reshsape their offensive identity. They got one guy who has on base skills which is something they have lacked for years. It's a start. I am hoping they bring in more players like that and that one or two of them will come through at the major league level. I am tired of hackers like Reyes and the Castros who have no potential to ever get on base at a good rate because they can't draw walks.1 point

I told a couple ppl this in DM's, but... for those of you who've been in this community for 16+ years now, this is jarring. On facebook, a colleague of mine showed up in the ppl you may know. I poked around and saw an old profile picture, him in Virginia Tech gear reloading a rifle. That was triggering to me... By my math, he would have started at VT about 3-4 years after the tragedy, but damn...0 points
