It's helps to understand and acknowledge that, with a few exceptions, most of the party tends to approach policy by starting from a conclusion (ie. whatever points them at odds / against their political enemies) and working backwards, when thinking in terms of policy requires the inverse of starting from a place of factfinding and working toward a conclusion. And if you're starting from a conclusion and working backward, you are never going to exhibit anything resembling ideological consistency.4 points

Well he's got Secret Service with him at all times and they work for the Gov't. They are equipped to lift and carry him for safety so they can lift and carry him for extradition. If his private security get in the way then there's an armed conflict and they are aiding and abetting a fugitive. SHove him into a big black SUV and off he goes. DeSantis won't lift a finger for him anymore.2 points

I see MAGA is already sucking him up online thinking this is their anthem. If he goes the direction of John Rich or Travis Tritt and turns into a whiney MAGA singer than I'm out.1 point

The thing I cannot wrap my head around is how the MAGA right and Republicans are always talking about how they are being ripped off and the game is rigged by powerful special interests. Yet, when government does step in and try to course correct and put regulations in place they fall hook-line-sinker for the same old "but that's socialism" bit and regurgitate it. So they want things to change, but when change does happen it's socialism. There are some on the right still who legitimately believe the Milton Friedman/Ronald Reagan line of government is the problem. But I think most of your modern day Republicans and the MAGA right would not want or endorse the kinds of deregulatory measures we saw under Reagan and Clinton. Yet ever measure of regulation is evil Socialism. The other thing that's always hard to comprehend, and this centers around the Ukraine argument, is the whole "imagine if we spent all the money we're sending to Ukraine on the American people." Spend that money on what exactly? We did do that in 2009 under President Obama with the ACA and the expansion of Medicaid and the right lost their minds of expanding Medicaid. They had an entire tea party movement, the precursor to MAGA, form partly as a result of expanding Medicaid and diverting resources away from Iraq and Afghanistan towards helping actual Americans. It's a real headache trying to dissect and understand the mental gymnastics of the right.1 point

I ****ing love this kind of country/roots/Appalachian music. I hadn't a clue who Oliver Anthony was until earlier today, but damn is he good. He's got the vocal characteristics of a Tyler Childers for sure and I love it.1 point

Also a reminder of how fast the game moves. The mind to body timing is a long time relatively speaking. Adrenaline too.1 point

I don't want to agree with all this because I want Jamo to be a huge part of this offense's and team's success, but I do agree with it. If he's not trending into bust territory he's at minimum trending in the wrong direction and quickly.1 point
-
I think anyone even talking about bust is ridiculous. This is the starting line. Everything before this was basically a free lesson. Anything up to this point isn’t worth evaluating based on his knee injury. His real evaluation begins in week 7.1 point

The comparison isn't so much that Okudah and Jamo are having the exact same issues... it's more that there's just one thing after the other... With Okudah it was: He's a rookie... he's got a bad coaching staff... he had nagging injuries... Oh wait this year, he's starting to look good-- BAM: Season ending injury. Okay this year he's starting to emerge as a true 1st round pick... and now he's dropping off to much he's a healthy scratch. And now he's traded for a 5th round pick and oh... look at he's injured again. With Jamo: He's coming back from a huge injury. Okay, he's health and look at that a TD on his first catch! Oh, but no he's a non-factor for most of the reason of the season because he's still nursing an injury and he's learning still. But this year it's like an extra 1st round pick-- BAM: 6 game suspension. But we'll at least see him in training camp-- BAM: Out for the rest of camp with an injury. In either case here, I'm not trying to blame the player. Injuries are mostly unavoidable... they can't help it when it happens. You can argue how much the gambling is the NFL's, the Lion's, or Jamo's fault. Not the end of the world by itself. So I'm not trying to dog on Jamo and say it's all attitude, or being fragile, or whatever. It's just the cumulative things that make me worry that there will always be the next thing that prevents Jamo from being what we were hoping we traded up for.1 point

Every time Torkelson gets into a heater, I think, OK, here he goes. And then the ensuing slump seemingly ends up not being a higher floor than before. Hopefully this is where he becomes more consistent as a hitter. Hopefully we're seeing another phase of the maturation process. As for Cleveland's bandbox, this is kind of interesting:1 point

KISS' "Christine Sixteen ", "Goin' Blind", and "Domino" are all about older men lusting after underage girls. Here is my take on it: way back in the day, girls did get married young, way before 18, and started families. Coming out of the depression, there was a resurgence of this in the US. Many families were very poor and children were encouraged to be on their own at a younger age out of necessity. I have an aunt who married at 14 in 1947 to an older man. It was pretty common. Loretta Lynn married at 14. That generation"s children became the free love hippy generation in the 60's and 70's, the time period most of these songs were written. It was out of fashion for girls to get married so, so young anymore, but their parents were in serious relationships having sex when they were 14, 15, 16, so I think the parents of these kids probably thought it wasn't really a big deal then (late 60s, early 70s). In the 4 decades + since then, it has become really taboo for kids 14-17 to be in serious relationships and having sex. Those songs have not aged well, and we question why they were written and popular at the time. It was just a sign of the times. It doesn't make it right, it just was. In the early part of the 20th century it was commen to see postcards and pictures of native americans wearing swatsikas. It was a symbol of good luck. I when I was going to school in the 70s and 80s it was common for kids to where shirts and clothing with the confederate flag. Now you would never do either, because they have become signs of hate. Times change, mostly for the better.1 point

The Who. Went to see a Who tribute band from the Detroit area called "Live The Who" and they were absolutely 100% the best tribute band I've ever seen/heard. I was blown away by how good they are and it really made me reappreciate the catalog of music and the musicianship of the band. Townsend is such a raw emotional player and this dude captured it perfectly.1 point

How can they have spent the whole season not knowing Vierling is their best 3b and it's not even close? And TBH, his bat is pretty marginal for the OF unless he is in center, and that isn't going to happen with Riley here and Parker Meadows likely on the way. So he's more valuable at 3B anyway.1 point

They’re also very good tin a frittata. If you slice them super thin, and pan fry them in EVOO, (I like them to look almost burnt 😁), then use them w/grated cheese in your egg base. Makes a great sandwich in a good Italian bread.1 point
