  1. they have an actual written plan - Schedule F - to get around this; convert at least 50K federal workers from civil servants to political appointees, who can then be summarily fired. DeSantis has given this his full endorsement as well. will it work? I don't know; Eastman's crazy plan to overthrow the government was sloppy, stupid, unconstitutional - and it was about 2 hours away from happening. 1984 is over the top, but pretending there is nothing to fear from Trump/GQP is a really odd take. and flatly incorrect.

  2. Trump 2.0 would not destroy the country - the rich and powerful would not allow it - but it would do great, lasting damage as the GQP tries to turn America into the 1950s South. POC, immigrants, the poor, queer communities, women, Muslims and non-Christians specifically. All sorts of bat-sh** laws, EOs and policies attacking these groups would be passed. Many would be ruled unconstitutional, but not all, considering the wacko federal judges Trump 1.0 put in place. Trump would find someone who would allow shooting of social justice protesters. He would find someone to arrest Milly and all the other traitors. He would pardon OK and PB and other J6 criminals. As a white, Christian, old male, I would be just fine, probably better off financially if they push through yet another tax cut. But the suffering would be real for so many.

  8. this if from the Atlantic article; had to share Meanwhile, millions of voters are folding their arms like shirty children and threatening to sit out the election because they don’t like their choices. Some are threatening to withhold support, in particular, for Joe Biden if they don’t get their way about student loans, climate change, or policy toward Israel. They are living in a booming economy that is outperforming any other developed nation since the start of the pandemic on many measures—and they are miserable and angry about it. Many voters resent hearing all of this. They think they are being bullied into a binary choice between two candidates they do not like, and so they engage in wishcasting: If only someone could beat Trump for the GOP nomination (no one will); if only Biden would step down (he won’t); if only America didn’t rely on the Electoral College (it does); and so on.

  9. Baptist, by definition, means independent. There are larger groups of denominations that call themselves "Baptist", like Southern Baptist, that have a structure. But anyone can form a church and call it Baptist. You don't answer to anyone. You can join an affiliation which tells members that you believe "X,Y, and Z". It's like a mission statement. But Joe Bob Baptist Church on Groveland Avenue in one city has no link to Jim Crack Corn Baptist Church on Fremont Street in another city. Nobody can come to you and say "You can't call yourself that". But of course there are affiliations and whatnot that will hold you accountable if you wish to join up. And if you call yourself a Baptist church but are preaching God awful things about Mary and Saints then word will get out that you are too "Catholic". The affiliatons and networks lead to a breeding ground. Start a church. Then a school. Then send those graduates to an associated "College" to churn out more pastors. Then they go out and start their own church. Multi Level Marketing that leads to a LIberty or Bob Jones University. Then you have your cult. How much of the church starting is a calling to preach or just to create a job for yourself? Get 100 member families to donate $50 a week.... that's $15K a week plus some other stuff and you can bring in 1/3 of a million a year in revenue, minus your costs... a pastor finds himself making six figures. Nothing stopping you. Nobody can tell you that you can't call your church that.

  10. Trump 2.0 would absolutely be a larger embarrassment to this country than Trump 1.0. He definitely would bring in some deplorable folks for his cabinet. And while there is a part of me that would be fine if we simply decided to execute anyone that stepped inside the Capitol on 1/6, let's not pretend that our democracy was almost overthrown. The "deep state" does exist. It's not some boogie man that is trying to control your lives though, it's roughly 2 million fellow citizens from various race, religion, and creed doing their part to provide the services the government provides. I'm still confident it's stronger than any 1 person. All that said, i'm going to do my part to avoid 2.0.

  11. He played the entire 4th quarter and almost 40 minutes the entire game after playing almost 40 minutes the night before. Not to mention that their offense is almost entirely dependent on him so, yes, I do believe that fatigue was a factor in the 4th.

  12. This is the answer on his first presidency. But he's not as stupid as you think. He browbeat everyone around him, Congressional and Senate Republicans, state Republican apparatchiks into supporting his bull**** lie, AND ALMOST PULLED IT OFF!!! He ALMOST overthrew our Constitution!!! In 2020!!! We came a Pence-ethics hair away from HAVING our Democracy OVERTHROWN by this Fascists ****. And now, he actually knows what he's doing! Tell me how we are NOT going to be Authoritarian if Trump wins 2024? Feckless Republicans will stop him? No. MAGA Republicans in Congress and Senate will stop him? No. They SUPPORT him. MAGA, right now, and MAGA Congress and MAGA Senators & Governors and MAGA state party voters and party apparatchiks want the CONSTITUTION OVERTHROWN, right now. They want Trump as a dictator, and Trump WANTS to be dictator... so badly! But they're not saying the quiet part out loud. Not yet anyways. So tell me, how are we NOT going to be a dictatorship once Trump wins. Who is going to stop him?

  16. Killian always puts up that 1 game every few weeks to a month where he looks like a potential offensive weapon only to revert back to his usual self the next game, tonight appears to be one of those games so probably one we need to take advantage of and win cause we might not see another one from him till December.

  21. Will be interesting if Blake Corum sues Ryan Walters for injuring him in the Illinois game last year as part of collusion with the other B1G coaches he was in consortium with. Ryan Walters has been one of the loudest complainers. Every accusation is a confession.

  23. If this whole thing has shown nothing, it's how dumb the NCAA is for not permitting two-way communication between a coaching staff and players on offense and defense. They allow it in baseball between coach and catcher, but not in a louder, more open environment?

  25. I still go back to the whole sign stealing thing as a tempest in a teapot. Is there any team doesn't use multiple signals? I heard a coach call in on the radio talking about what a huge advantage it is for a DB to know run/pass before the snap, but if you signal a run and a pass in your multiple, how much help is it then? Not to mention you'd think any coach worth his salt would just send plays in on player rotation if he suspected the D had his calls. Teams played football successfully for decades before play signing became a thing. It's not justification of breaking the rules but the way all these dummies are talking about this doesn't say much for the brains of the average sports commentator.

  26. I'm okay with the penalty, not the fine. The penalty needs to be assessed on a quick basis from what it looks like on the field. You can't pause the game and go to replay just because a players complains he was tripped. But the fine is a different story. The league absolutely can watch the replays, can take into consideration the player, can view exactly what happened and then make the correct call. This ain't it.
