  1. All of Lynn's info for these comes from internal folks. Temper your enthusiasm accordingly.

  5. Let's not bury the lead. The subject of slavery was out there since the founding of the Republic. It's one of the main reasons why parts of the Constitution are wound up tighter than pretzels. The need to placate the smaller southern states like South Carolina and Georgia who depended on "free" labor. The words of Confederate VP Alexander Stephens could not be more clear ahead of starting the Civil War: “Our new government is founded upon exactly the opposite idea; it’s foundations are laid, it’s cornerstone rests, upon the great truth that the negro is not equal to the white man; that slavery subordination to the superior race is his natural and normal condition. This, our new government, is the first , in its history of the world, based upon this great physical, philosophical, and moral truth.” Folks like Nikki just want to rewrite history.

  6. "Pitching Performance and Integration Coodinator" sounds like the title for a bogus position they create to keep Jim Adduci on the payroll.

  7. It is worth noting that Colorado and MIchigan were not deciding the same thing. They were each answering different questions under different standards. Colorado said “you can’t put someone on a primary ballot who doesn’t meet the requirements to be president, like age and birthright, etc including insurrection”. Michigan said “you can put anyone on the primary ballot… , a dog. Mickey Mouse. A 23 year old. If they were to win that nomination then it’s your responsibility to resolve any eligibility requirements”

  10. Not quite yet. I don't think the Lions management expected so much success this season. We were building for 2024 and beyond. But this season showed how much the fans are starving for a winning team. I went to FanaticU to buy a Central Division Champion shirt and the woman there said they sell out as soon as they come in. Totally crazy...

  11. The thing with Melton getting so much prospect love this offseason is I'm not sure the people doing the ranking know he left his final start with an elbow injury. That dings him in my book until he is throwing again.

  15. kudos to Lynn for not including any released players in his top prospect list this year! FWIW - 11 of the team's 2023 draft picks made the list (including some who have not played yet) as well as 5 more guys acquired by Harris maybe that reflects some access bias, or Harris & Co are pretty good at talent identification, or both

  16. Their turf is really bad. They're being forced to change it during the off-season. https://www.msn.com/en-us/sports/nfl/after-injuries-and-complaints-vikings-set-to-install-new-turf-for-2024-season/ar-AA1lS3xo Looks like they'll have plenty of time...lol

  17. I don't really get Payton. He was worshipped in New Orleans. The franchise had gone to the playoffs five times and won only a single playoff game in its 39-year history prior to his hiring. He went to the playoffs nine times and won the Super Bowl with them, never winning less than seven games. He wasn't untouchable, but I think he would have survived a rebuild. He didn't want to rebuild from ground zero in New Orleans though, so he just up and left in the middle of a contract, and then a year later gets bored with broadcasting (?), so he goes to Denver, where instead he can rebuild from ground negative one, on a team with $85MM invested into a sunk cost quarterback that is missing future picks because they valued him more than the picks. It doesn't make much sense. From Campbell's POV I understand the mentorship angle. Campbell's playing career ended with a training camp injury on the Saints and Payton is who encouraged him to get into coaching, vouched for him to get the gig in Miami, and gave him a job when the Miami staff got fired. He wouldn't be here if it weren't for Payton, but he's also definitely not Payton. Payton is obviously a good coach, but Campbell I think is a much more calm and collected presence on the sideline than Payton, and I think the players like him more... You would never see Campbell yell at a quarterback how Payton did Russell Wilson. Even the officials, I've never seen Campbell lose his mind on the officials. Payton earned himself stupid 15-yard penalties with the Saints, one of which I remember costing him the game. And BountyGate? I couldn't even imagine a former NFL player like Campbell entertaining the possibility.

  20. Yeah, pass on Turner or another DH. I’m ready to see Malloy get those AB’s. Dude had over a .400 OBP and 20 HR’s in AAA. He can DH and play a ****ty 3B, instead.

  22. Two things that I've been saying all season still hold true. Cade deserves better and Monty is poison to this team and is the worst thing to happen to this franchise outside of the day Gores bought the team.

  25. The problem is they have a team capable of going through a long offensive drought. Instead of April, it could be 20 games in June instead. They need to get better offensive players in order to avoid that.
