I wasn’t booing Stafford. I was booing his kids.4 points

Really. Stafford wasn't coming here to have a 20th reunion with old pals, he came here to take the Lion's lunch money and to do his best to send the fans home in despair again. Football is an exercise in sanitized war in 4 parts. For 60 minutes between the line the other guy is supposed to be the enemy.2 points

Why do we want to trade Hooker? Knock on every piece of wood in the two-mile radius, but although Goff has been very resilient in the last three years (owing in no small part to the offensive line), that is not the case league-wide. Aaron Rodgers, Anthony Richardson, Deshaun Watson, Daniel Jones, Kirk Cousins, Kyler Murray, Joe Burrow, Justin Fields, Justin Herbert, Ryan Tannehill, Jimmy Garrapollo, and Kenny Pickett all missed multiple weeks this season, and you could argue that a handful of those injuries substantially effected - if not totally derailed - their team's season. We have him on a four-year contract, and I would be willing to bet (and hope to lose the bet) that even if Goff signs a long-term extension, Hooker would be needed to start at least one game over the next three years. Rather than be relying on Tim Boyle or David Blough or [insert terribly mediocre backup here], I'd much rather be in a position to put our own version of Matt Cassel into the game, having been born and bred into the Lions' system, and then flip him when his value is highest. The board was ready to burst into flames before we signed Teddy Bridgewater, why do we now want to get rid of the next probably-at-least-decent backup for pennies on the dollar?1 point

If the Lions win the Super Bowl, they should give McVay a ring.1 point

I don't know where the end zone runs out for his hatred of Goff but he should really back off because he's way out of bounds here.1 point

Orlovsky is weird. He is such a Stafford guy but such a Goff hater. Probably upset Goff did something in Detroit his boy didn't do in 12 years.1 point

Here is the Rams defender going at Laporta's knees. They already know he has a bad knee. The defender also has the sideline. He doesn't need to take Laporta to the ground. This isn't an open field tackle attempt. He just needs to bump him out of bounds. Instead, he dives for the knee.1 point

I’d complain about the league and their stupid rules rather than calling a player dirty for a legal hit. There's a saying for people that complain about stuff like this…being a little bitch.1 point

It's common down there. "Favorite to sign" is a common euphemism for agreed to a contract before eligible.1 point

My hot take is when things are all said and done, Goff will be remembered more fondly than Stafford. Barry Sanders and Calvin Johnson were all time greats, Stafford was good but not an all time great. It's like the Pistons comp I made earlier. Stafford is Grant Hill. Goff is more like Richard Hamilton. Hill was a superior player talent wise but it's Hamilton's jersey hanging from the rafters.1 point

I still think the booing of Stafford was more to show support for Goff and that we are "over our ex gf" if you will and are fully behind him now. As we know with how crazy fans were 2 years ago supporting the Rams so Stafford could get his SB they don't hold any grudge towards him or anything. Also this wasn't the time or place to be the courteous and classy fans, this was a big deal for the franchise and its fanbase. You can give Matthew his proper ovation another time if you like.1 point

We say this like Al was in the room beyond the first pick. I will say this for Al, even if his hand was forced, the player development shift did start under his watch. Now, whether there was some lip service and if it was a half measure is a legitimate question. Player development has been a definite emphasis for Harris and company to the point where they deserve a lion's share of the credit, imo. They've gone all in, whereas Avila dipped his toe in the water enough to give the veil of an upgrade, but still made sure to tip his hat to the old school folks. There are plenty of quotes to that nature. I suspect this was a big reason for the disjointed 2022. Besides, a strong player development reputation does help in the draft. Say you get to the third day and you have a sleeper you like you want to take in the 13th round. Your area guy calls to make sure he will sign for $150K, but he says no. The Dodgers, with a strong player dev reputation, take him and sign him for $150K instead.1 point

This team is beginning to show how good Yzerman is. Almost every night we go against teams where the best player on the Ice is on the other side, but Yzerman is starting to build enough depth of secondary talent that they are succeeding anyway. Yzerman has often talked about the fact they you can't really control getting generational players, so he's doing all the things he can control better than the other guys. I don't know if he can get them to being a great team without finding more stars, but they're at least getting to be a good team again. The question is are they good enough yet to keep Yzerman from deciding to pull the plug and sell assets for future picks one more time.1 point

I want to see a play where they reverse it to Jameson Williams who then throws it downfield to Goff so you have the fastest player on the field throwing it to the slowest player on the field. Goff has the hands for it as demonstrated, but does Williams have the arm?1 point

The court bugs me. Other than a spot on each baseline you can barely tell its the Pistons court. Plenty of ads though.1 point

If I were Atlanta I would try to sign Cousins and draft my future QB. They got talent at receiver and RB and a decent OL. You can plug Cousins in as your bridge and be a contender in that division.1 point

It was a bad joke (DNC commenting on Social Media on the former Governor's withdrawal from the GOP race). But a nice gesture on the current President's campaign to apologize. We all know followers of former President Stinkey would never do such a thing1 point

They are. This year. The feel good underdog from a hard knocks city led by a rah rah coach. It will never be quite the same again. Once you start getting good and knocking teams out you pick up enemies along the way. And by next year there will be a new darling team.1 point

It reminded me of the Netflix series Daredevil and Punisher. Gritty and street level and sometimes brutal. All good series. And yes, Andor for Star Wars was in the same vein... great series.1 point

For the same reason I never watched the Sorkin/Jeff Daniels "talk show host" show, I just do not feel drawn to shows about the industry, especially on the news side. I think mentally it's too close to reality and I want my viewing to be an escape from that. Granted I never watched a second of those shows so it's by definition an ignorant take but with so many things to choose from.... I didn't choose those. I'm not interested in watching an avatar of the Murdoch family or Bill O Reilly or Jon Stewart. I started watching Echo and it reminds me of Andor. Street level stuff that's not directly connected to anything else in that universe.1 point

Kelly Stafford didn't like Lions fans booing her children but she lacks the self-awareness to realize they were booing her and not the children.1 point

I've been thinking, what exactly is Stafford going to be remembered for as a Lion? He will likely still be the Lions all time leader in many passing categories for years to come, but what is his special moment as a Lion? The game against Cleveland where the Lions won a meaningless game with his dislocated shoulder? The fake spike against the Cowboys in a mediocre season? I will always remember the Goff pass to Chark against the Packers to end Rodgers Packer career and his pass to St Brown to win the first playoff game in 32 years and who knows what will happen in these playoffs. Stafford had those opportunities and for things within and out of his control came up short. Stafford kind of reminds me of the Grant Hill of the Lions. A star player who played on some mediocre teams but never advanced in the playoffs. They both left for sunny pastures and the Pistons, like the Lions, were left with a castoff that became central to a playoff run and a new era.1 point
