  1. 11 teams, out of the other 29, have won more games, 12 have lost fewer. No, I wouldn't call them "good" but I don't think they warrant the beating they get here after a loss. People act like they are the 2003 Tigers sometimes. They are on the the middle of the pack.

  3. This looks promising ( I guess I should add in Lee too...): Player April OPS May OPS June (SSS) Campos .662 OPS .942 OPS 1.086 OPS Dingler .725 OPS .980 OPS 1.189 OPS Jung .828 OPS .878 OPS 1.171 OPS HY Lee .719 OPS .833 OPS 1.333 OPS These guys also look good overall... but still working out some kinks: Player April OPS May OPS June (SSS) Clark .722 OPS .780 OPS .680 OPS Gold .922 OPS .800 OPS .547 OPS McGonigle 1.127 OPS .902 OPS .782 OPS Meadows .443 (Det) .924 OPS .814 OPS

  4. And people are getting sick of it. Especially the "saner politicians" on both sides of the aisle who are "quitting Washington". And you are correct the current reality is spreading to the local level as well. Is the best we can hope for is something similar to the European Union with a dozen or so member nations to come about in time to morn the Declaration of Independence on its 250th birthday?

  5. Unfortunately all we have basically is a binary choice, not counting the Kennedy guy who seems to have his own cognitive issues. Which party has the saner bench to better serve "We the people" and not the business or outside overlords. I may have been persuaded to vote for McCain over Obama if it hadn't been for his choice of VP. The federal government is not just one man or woman. I trust Biden's choice of folks over whatever or whomever Trump is being sold

  7. The 2009 Tigers were 34-31 and leading the division by 2 games. The 2012 Tigers were 31-34 and four games back. What I’m saying is that we are probably going to get swept in the World Series again after Skubal gets rocked in game 1. But that’s better than losing game 163.

  8. Not a great look for JJ to go from lock for job to second choice after someone else turned down it with a bigger contract and term than he’s going to get.

  14. I have to say that the Tigers rank on that list is a lot higher than the mood of this MB suggests. Lots of doom and gloom around here for a team that nobody should have expected to be much better.

  17. so far this season there is no reason not to play him everyday. His platoon split is pretty much a wash: 30pts better OBP against LHP, but 100pt better OPS against RHP (he has hit his HRs off RHP). DRS doesn't give him a lot of love but I think we are pretty certain that over time the numbers will bear out that he is a plus OF, even if he is only an adequate 3B. But on this team that makes him 2nd choice only behind Urshella.

  21. I see Tiger 337 laughs at this. This guy could win and even if he doesn't he'll probably get about 48-49% of the vote. It's not funny, it's scary as hell.

  22. He should play 120 games, hit .240 with 20 home runs, and make the All Star team. But unfortunately, he isn't allowed to play that often. It's a mystery.

  24. That is not correct. My standards are not too low. This is the correct way to put it: My standards are "all-encompassing." I love the Miggy Cabreras and JV's and Scherzer's and Skubal's and (hopefully) Riley Greene's as much as the next guy. But I also know that there is no one that can construct an ENTIRE TEAM consisting of all-stars from top to bottom. That's just not realistic. So I embrace the top-level players and hope Harris can construct a team with enough of them to make us a real contender. But I ALSO embrace the bottom 10-15 players on a roster because if they are total crap then a top heavy team won't survive the entire season, won't survive injuries, and has a serious chance of not making the playoffs... because... baseball. So yes... I embrace the 4th OF'ers and the "glue guys" and the middle relievers and others that ALSO are a required part of any real, serious, contender. Why is this such a problem for everyone? Vierling is not the problem. Baez is. Tork is. Etc. So my standards are perfectly fine. I recognize what Vierling, Malloy, Lee and Canha are. And their limitations. Or their correct spot on any contending team. Unless you're telling me that Clark and McGonigle are garbage prospects and therefore my standards are too low...?

  29. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/40275531/tucupita-marcano-gets-life-mlb-ban-betting-baseball Along with Marcano, 4 other current players with MLB experience were given 1 year suspensions. All 4 are detailed in the above article, did not bet on their current teams, and placed low wagers. It should also be pointed out all lost badly. I think this will become just as big of a headache for MLB as PEDs were 20 years ago. Not many people are going to Blink an eye at the above 5 players, not many have heard of them. But the mud will hit the fan when the first star is caught. I'm sure many players are having cousin eddy place bets on their behalf, and that could be be a bigger mess. It would not surprise me to see Duece behind all of this.
