I believe this is the 2nd or 3rd game I've watched with Carlos Pena and I have to say I really like him. Offers great insight to what a batter is thinking at the plate without going too overboard into the "back in my day" or "what I would do in this situation", brings up past experiences but also speaks in generalities. Definitely the best I've heard for us in awhile.4 points

Wenceel, Parker, Riley. That should be the Tigers set it and forget it OF.2 points

I feel sorry for the Cincinnati Reds because they have Candelario as their DH. That would be almost as bad as us having the DH whose BA is .200. Oh, wait…2 points

The thing is… people are not surprised by Bidens performance and even if he, ahem, passes away or resigns… so what. How are we hurt by that? If someone is inclined to vote for Biden why would that scenario stop them? They already voted for an old feeble guy with Harris as the waiter in wings. I’m supposed to believe that actual voters saw that and said “damn, he is old. I can’t vote for him, he might die and Kamala is president”? That was the choice in 2020 and he won. The post debate reaction are sports fans venting about their favorite team after their closer blew the game in the 9th. They are pissed and angry. But tomorrow they will be back at the game cheering them on. you know who else might die? Clarance Thomas or Sam Alito.2 points

With McGonigle, Franyerber and Osorio ...we have some SS prospects in the low minors...I would anticipate McGonigle and maybe Franyerber moving up a level in the 2nd half. Hope to see Osorio stateside next year.2 points

Oh come on now. The esteemed Dr. Ronny Jackson has declared him one of the fittest people on earth and he would know too since he’s written scrips for millions of people. Trump’s done very very well on many congestive tests. One anonymous doctor told him that he aced it and did better than anyone ever has. It’s almost as if you are making this stuff up CM.1 point

Who are these guys and who do they think they are coming back like this to tie the game? Don't they know that Hinch is the manager and doesn't care about winning games? 😝1 point

Trump is showing signs of mortality as well. Watch his gate, not as pronounced as Biden's (neuropathy, as well as the effects of a broken foot in 2021). Trump is obese, it's been long reported his diet is not the best. Not good for a 78 year old man. It was also well known that the former President seldom reported to the office before 10 AM.1 point

At the risk of going up against the relentless buzzsaw here, it's becoming clear a week afterwards that the debate was indeed a cataclysmic political event that almost certainly will have democracy-altering effects. Blame anyone you want for the ensuing state of affairs, and trash anybody who expresses any level of doubt if it makes you happy, but you can't pretend the thing you say is not happening is indeed not actually happening. It is definitely happening. The best we can hope for is that Biden stays in the race and beats Trump, but that is becoming increasingly unlikely. It's true some polls are showing little or no effect, but there are other polls showing substantial movement toward Trump, and that must mean something, because many people inside the actual house are lipping off about wanting Biden to pull out of the race, while other are battening down the hatches to keep such barbarians away. The obvious disunity alone could be enough to prevent people from crossing over to vote for Biden, but it could also be enough to peel off a number of people who were inclined to vote for Biden because he was obviously more stable than Trump, but now that's back up for debate. And if it turns out that Biden does end up pulling out of the race, that leads to its own potential parade of horribles. First of all, who gets the nomination in his place? So many people believe it will and should be Kamala Harris, but she has been such a cipher during her vice presidency that I don't think anyone has any clear idea what if anything she actually stands for. And do we really believe Kamala is the person with the best chance of beating Trump? Because beating Trump is Job 1, and you can't pull Biden off the ticket without replacing him with the person who has the best chance of beating him. That may or may not be Kamala, but a thorough vetting of possible replacements would be 10 times out of 10 better than following the party tradition of Peter Principling the next person in line up for the job. The Detroit Tigers did exactly that in 2015, and how did that turn out for us? And whether it's Kamala or someone else—let's say Kamala for the rest of the post—Trump is already on record as going to sue in 50 states to keep Biden on the ballot. That probably won't work in most states, but it might work in several other states, including states where the Democrats have a natural leg up. But even if that occurs in, say, a dozen red states only, what is the election going to look like with most states' ballots having the replacement candidate and the remainder having a candidate who can't even take office at all? Who's going to vote for Biden in those outlier states? Practically nobody. That could get Trump the electoral majority he'd love to claim, since that gives him the imprimatur of a mandate, which makes all the horrific changes they want to make that much easier to implement. It's still easier to make awful changes with even a sham mandate from a compromised electoral majority than it would be at the point of an M16 against a clear opposition majority. And even if all that happens and Kamala ends up winning the election, Trump is going to file beaucoup lawsuits seeking to overturn the election as being illegitimate because of the chaos, and once the case that reach the egg that is the Supreme Court actually gets there and the Court expedites a ruling for it—how do you like our chances then? We are now in a world of ****, and what we are left with is hoping Trump gets incapacitated by a stroke or something before Election Day.1 point

Is it Gen X versus anyone anymore? All we ever hear about are the boomers and millennials and Gen Z. I don't hear boo about Xers, in any way. Talk about a silent generation ... 😏1 point

Hinch drives me nuts. Keith and Greene have a huge game, let's put perpetual slump Canha between them. Let's bat .285 OBP Vierling first because sometimes he's hot for three weeks (but not recently).1 point

what isn't shown it the FB release vs this other pitches. If the change moved the FB release closer to his other pitches, that could be a big deal in itself. Difference in release point is one way batters pick up what is coming so being able to throw all your pitchers from the same "key hole" as Jim would say, makes you more effective across the board.1 point

I actually started episode one last night, and fell asleep about 15 minutes into it, which never ever ever ever happens to me. I don’t fall asleep watching TV or movies. Maybe I was just really tired? But I’m having a feeling this show might not be up to snuff.1 point

Yes. American made. The parts are from China and Canada and it’s assembled in Mexico. Maybe somebody in Detroit designed it. But it’s a tight well functioning vehicle. Handles great. The irony is that if I could’ve afforded the Toyota I wanted it was made in Lafayette, Indiana, probably by children of my old friends from there.1 point

That's the thing, they very well may have won without cheating. I remember a player accusing the Tigers of a guy in the stands stealing signs, years ago. We all thought he was crazy but who knows....1 point

Now I could be wrong but the vibe I keep seeing is the Tigers are going to go for a prep player. Now if Rainer or Griffin drop they will take him but if they don't it feels like they will grab Caminiti. The prep path tracks for Connor who ran San Diego's drafts prior to coming here and they were not shy about taking HS'ers. From his last SDP draft he drafted James Wood and Jackson Merrill so let's hope he can continue that streak with our drafts.1 point

It's been a 4 year story for many in the media and not just FoxNews types. Granted you only heard about it on the right wing, but there have many things that Biden has done or has been reported over the years that now people are taking another look at. - Biden's first campaign, he did very little travel (comparative to POTUS campaigns in the last 30+ years). Covid was blamed for the reason and the majority of the media went along with it. - Few press conferences, the least since Reagan. (Wonder why Reagan had so few?) - Passed on the SuperBowl interview. - Many instances of physical issues (falling up stairs, etc) which Biden wasn't known for, he's not Ford. - Looking for the dead House rep among a crowd, only to be reminded she had died recently. - Special Counsel note on why they wouldn't pursue charges with Biden "sympathetic, well meaning, elderly man with a poor memory." - Recent article where even dems (anonymous) said they saw Biden aging drastically recently. Meanwhile, anytime any of these stories came out and the Biden WH felt they were suggesting his age was the reason, you'd have top friends/colleagues come out with fantastical stories how he's only getting better with age and is the sharpest they've ever seen him and I think I lot of people kind of knew they were getting gaslit. Then the "one day" story happened at the debate and I think you've been seeing everyone reconsider so many of these previous stories.1 point
