These guys have a chemistry and camaraderie that is fetching. A lot of them are achieving for the first time their lifelong goals and they’re doing it together which magnifies the experience; while others who have hit bumps in the road and been injured or sent down have returned and are justified in feeling a reacquaintance with the same thing but in a different manner, and they are all rising together. It’s a beautiful thing to witness.

I think the chances we sign JV or Max is zero. Harris has a plan. I feel positive that signing gimpy over-40 players when your team haven’t played even .500 ball in eight years is not part of it. I doubt overpaying over-30 players, impact or not, is part of that plan either. If we had six positions and the majority of the rotation filled, maybe. But we’d have a hell of a time trying to talk most guys into coming to Detroit if they have other options.

I was less than 10 years old during Vietnam, and I would like to think that as much as I would have been anti-war (if I was old enough), that I never would have spit at or shouted at or thrown anything at a returning soldier, but I think I probably would have gone along with the crowd on that. That was disgusting. Those guys didn't want to be there and they got pulled or lied into fighting an unwinnable war to save face. It was never on them. The **** they saw and had to do and then to come home and be treated like that - shameful bout of extremism. Extremism is almost never good. Should have spit on and shouted at our leaders on that one, but not the soldiers. Extremism is why I refuse to vote for Tlaib (who I agree with on almost everything). I just can't get past it with her now.

I don’t understand why so many people fail to grasp the idea of a sunk cost. Baez should not be on this team next year. Even eating his salary, the payroll is low. They definitely should be signing one impact bat from Adames, Kim, Alonso, Bellinger, etc. And with holes at 1B and SS and some positional flex with guys like Vierling they won’t be blocking anyone if they do sign a FA.

I'm requesting that Harris and Ilitch divert a little bit from their risk profile to get a real impact right handed bat. Make a trade and ship off excess prospect inventory to get a guy who will help you next year. I don't want to hear about blocking prospects. They aren't all going to work out..as we have seen. And they have to figure out a solution for SS. Henning seems to think that they are going to dump Baez's money. But I have my doubts. Even if you do that, you need an actual option to play the position.
